    Godzilla: King of the Monsters is yet another big blockbuster flop of the year 2019, even with everyone's favorite Millie Bobbie Brown at the front. And that's actually sad to hear, because this movie is the perfect example of how to properly make these massive Hollywood monster creature movies. In today's family friendly PG episode of RUclips's favorite show Film Perfection, let's see how Godzilla 2 handles its ancient titan monsters and ties them into its human characters, in a way that results in one unified experience.
    Now I just need a movie about that Leviathan titan monster, Titanus Leviathan or whatever.

    Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019)
    Co-writer/director Michael Dougherty’s monster film is a sequel to the 2014 Hollywood reboot of the Godzilla franchise. When several ancient titans simultaneously emerge and begin to battle each other for supremacy, humanity desperately turns to Godzilla King of the Monsters watch full movie online free Godzilla 2 King of the Monsters honest trailer cinemasins everything wrong with Godzilla King of the Monsters blu-ray clip 4k hd as their one and only hope. The film’s international cast includes Kyle Chandler, Vera Farmiga, Millie Bobby Brown, Sally Hawkins, Ken Watanabe, and Ziyi Zhang.
    Following the global success of “Godzilla” and “Kong: Skull Island” comes the next chapter in Warner Bros. Pictures’ and Legendary Pictures’ cinematic MonsterVerse, an epic action adventure that pits Godzilla against some of the most popular monsters in pop culture history. The new story follows the heroic efforts of the crypto-zoological agency Monarch as its members face off against a battery of god-sized monsters, including the mighty Godzilla, who collides with Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three-headed King Ghidorah. When these ancient super-species-thought to be mere myths-rise again, they all vie for supremacy, leaving humanity’s very existence hanging in the balance.

    Captain America: Civil War (2016)
    In this superhero epic, the denizens of the Marvel Universe are forced to pick sides when Captain America (Chris Evans) and Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) come to blows over ideological differences. After a mission involving a new Avengers squad led by Cap ends with several civilian casualties in Lagos, the team are asked to sign an agreement that would force them to take orders from a United Nations panel. Tony Stark (aka Iron Man) pressures Cap to accept this new arrangement, in part because he feels deeply guilty about his own past recklessness; Captain America, however, fears that the Avengers will only be corrupted by bureaucracy. Their disagreement eventually escalates into all-out war when Cap's old friend Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan), now a brainwashed assassin known as the Winter Soldier, reenters the picture. Captain America: Civil War brings back former Avengers characters such as Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen), War Machine (Don Cheadle), Falcon (Anthony Mackie), and Vision (Paul Bettany); it also drags into the fray low-rent superhero Ant-Man (Paul Rudd), and introduces both the powerful African prince Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman) and a new, younger incarnation of Spider-Man (Tom Holland). Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo.

      I can understand this view and may be a flaw in the film, but I think there are a couple reasons why this is a part of the movie. For one, this is a call-back to the original Toho films. The human elements of those films are light at best. This is consistent throughout those early films. Another reason may be what Filmento touched on. The parallel of the goals between the humans and monsters. It seems at times like the same thing is being done because the paths being walked are the same to show a connection between the monsters and humans. creates a subtle redundancy that while not perceived at face value is noticeable in reflection and dissection.
      Might be something that is not advisable in hindsight, but hindsight is 20/20.

    I heard so much shit about how bad the characters are and, to be honest, for a Godzilla movie, they're not awful. Nothing amazing, they're there to give exposition and move the plot, but...that's kinda the point. The old, Showa Era Godzilla movies sometimes have Godzilla just at the end of the movie, and the rest is some boring human side story, and nobody complains about those? Like Destroy All Monsters promotes itself as a "big monster fight" with all the Godzilla monsters that were introduced at the time, when really it was just a fight at the very end of the movie with something like 5 monsters that actually did something, the rest was a boring human vs alien plot. Same with Ghidorah the Tree Headed Monster and Godzilla vs Gigan (this one is even worse because when you finally get to the battle, 3/4 of said battle is stock footage from previous movies). As far as Godzilla movies goes, King of the Monster is a very solid entry in the franchise

Even with King of the Monsters being a flop by US movies standards it is still the second highest grossing Godzilla movie of all time. In fact all three US Godzilla movies far exceed anything Toho has produced. A thought that is kind of amazing really. A great analysis! I thought these kinds of things too, albeit less eloquently than expressed in this video.

    I think the movie gets better with multiple viewings.
    I can see where the critics were coming from but the fact is, Godzilla movies where he is the anti hero are just going to be different in narrative, pacing, story, characters, ect. because we have a protagonist that doesn't talk and can only mostly interact with other monster characters that don't talk. So we have to have a human story mostly apart from Godzilla. Unlike the original were it's strictly man vs. nature with Godzilla as the nature side.
    So yes, when it comes to Godzilla movies, I'd say the fans have spoken and this movie delivers in droves.

  • @FatSack0fCrap
    @FatSack0fCrap 5 лет назад +178

    It's funny, I thought the human characters (for the most part) were kinda cringey and annoying, but I appreciated how they tied into the monster narrative. My friends, upon finishing the movie, absolutely hated it because of the prominence of the human characters. I was more indifferent and they couldn't stand it. It's surprising hearing you praise that aspect of the movie in this video. To me it was just a guilty pleasure, but not stupid or condescending enough to be as bad as a Bay Transformers movie, and for that fact alone I liked it.

      Don't get me wrong, I like me some Bay-splosions at times myself, but the movie has to be set up in that regard. I hate it when they try to have characterizations in a dumb action movie as much as I hate non-stop action in a character driven story. The problem with the human sections of these movies is that they're supposed to be what explains the plot; why Godzilla is there, what their going to do about him, yadda, yadda. However, most of the time this exposition can be explained in 5-10 minutes which leads to a lot of extra runtime to be filled. Godzilla is really only there to push the plot forward.

    Finally, a good video talking about what I felt and thought when I saw it. It's not perfect; not only did the finale sort of favor the Monsters, but throughout the movie the writing on the human story could have been trimmed in some places for character relationships to be strengthened in their place. However, I found the human story pretty compelling, with most of the characters likeable and understandable. The movie was far better than the critical and financial flak it received, both as a Godzilla movie and as a large-scale monster flick as a whole.

    Is really nice to see more positive videos about KOTM. KOTM was a really good Godzilla movie and the only good American Godzilla movie that respects the original movies and is faithful to them. Sure it has flaws, but are basically the same flaws of the majority of Godzilla movies. The plot was really good after all, the characters even if not the best have a little characterization and personality that make them a little interesting and enjoyable, the soundtrack was fantastic and I loved that they brought back some of the original themes from the old movies (like the Godzilla theme and Mothra's song), the fights were amazing and really well made. The director Michael Dougherty is a true fan of Godzilla, and this is showed for how much respect he showed to the original Kaiju of TOHO (Godzilla, Mothra, Rodan and Ghidorah) who were so faithful to the originals but at the same time so unique, to the original movies and to the series, and fir the many easter eggs and callbacks he put in the movie. Not only the majority of western fans liked it, but even the Japanese fans and TOHO itself liked KOTM showing how this movie was made right.
