FYI If you are watching this, 600hp is EASILY achieved with $30k with the VG30DETT....plus you can replace a lot of other stuff too, mechanical and cosmetic....and it won't sound like a buzzy piece of shit.
These are VG twin turbo numbers with FBO and a mild tune on stock turbos. Imagine all on the money you threw on the sr20, you could have a vg with over 600whp and much more torque. And it would sound tons better.
I respect your build, but could make the same power with stock VG motor, stock turbos and a set of 740 nismos... Would have been arguably more of an original to build the VG30 and try and break some records. I honestly dont get putting a lame 4 cyl with less displacement and less turbos in it.
Great job Guys ! Quinn killed it again on engine build car sounds Amazing. Engine sounds strong and health. Put in bigger injectors and Dino it again to hit the 600 HP ! Keep the great videos coming!!
I wonder the amount of money it took on that poor SR to be built in order to make what an unopened NA-TT Vg30 can make with turbos, fueling & breather mods easily.
FR that's what I'm sayin. Would have been cheaper to get a cheap TT 300zx and build the VG. You can tuck the engine bay and delete a LOT of shit when building the VG. There's a lot of useless junk that you won't miss with deletes. Going SR20 is kind of eh, like yeah its wild but I think it kills off the spirit of the car too. The VG30 is a fun engine, it sounds great, it can be made very attractive with proper dressing/powdercoating/polishing etc, and contrary to popular belief its extremely reliable as long as you actually care for it. I've seen z32s running a vg30dett with just the big ticket deletes and some tucks and the free space is about the same as this build with the SR20. Would be less than 30k to restore a TT 300zx with a stock motor, build it, and it will still make more power. 🤦♂
SR20 is a much easier more straight forward build, lot's more readily available aftermarket components vs the VG30DE not so much. It would be better to just build a VQ35DE vs the VG30DE. A VR30DETT would be golden on an old school 300zx, or an Infiniti QX80 VR35DDTT 😮
if you add a line from your catch can to your intake system. itll create vacuum on the crankcase, which helps the rings to properly seat to the walls. needed, no. but helpful. yesssss. this maintains stock reliability while keeping the cleanliness of a catch can. its just inline of teh crankcase hose. win win win =]
@20:52, this above will help again to create vacumm in crank case which will help to pull rings agaisnt cylinder walls which will aid in elimentating that crankcase blow by causing dipstick to be ejected. positive crank presssure is bad, negative crank presure is good =] . NO HATE HERE< i love you all at throttl!!!!
Is this the breather port on the catch can?Wouldn't this effectively add the only negative AOS feature, by dumping slightly oil-contaminated air back into the intake? Considering this catch can doesn't appear to have coolant lines like some AOS systems, water from condensation can build up in the catch can too (like this one did). That'll be going back into the intake as well 😬 I installed an IAG street one on my 2017 STI. I think I prefer AOS'. It's just that more frequent oil changes are recommended with an AOS. Considering EJ engines need more frequent oil changes anyway, I went for an AOS over a catch can
Waiting for the Follow Up already even though this video just dropped haha Really want to see this SR20 Sing, such an underrated engine and now its time for it to prove to the world how kick ass a SR20 can be in the best looking Z body ever made😎👍
I don't know how long you've been in the Nissan scene, but SR20s have been proving itself since it started getting popular around 2000-2001. By the housing bubble crash, people were running 500+ rwhp on stock internals on their daily drivers.
@@passageuncharted1585 Yes you are right in what your saying, but your missing my point. Yes in the 90's I had a Sentra SER with a JDM swapped Red top pushing good power for its time, but that's the thing that was 30 yrs ago. To see them put a SR20 in one of the best looking Z bodies and bringing the SR20 back into the 21st century with a build like this?? Is EPIC!! THATS my point👍
I wish they'd add more educational 🎓 information in their videos....Like I know about engine break in & break in oil etc... But appreciate them going into some tech/learning info in the video. It'd be nice to explain more about say.... turbos for example. How to make an aftermarket turbo on a car/build actually work ..Or what makes that Nissan SR20 & Honda K20 engines so much tougher & able to handle 500+ hp compared to older 4 cylinder engines. I'm weird, when I watch car videos I also like to learn stuff.
i noticed its the same Tuning Shop where Donut Media tuned their BMW from their latest engine build😂So my favorite Throtl and Donut Media isn't that far from each other huh?❤ 16:38 Mo powah baby!
This is very good power. Is this on e85? You should make even more once the engine is fully broken in. I think the dipstick blowing out is caused by blow-by from the rings not fully seating yet.
As soon as I found out that it needed bigger injectors, I would have been on the phone to Becky asking him to pick them up and bring them over to finish the tuning.
I will forever be the biggest hater of this build. Couldve slapped some twins on the NA VG and made 430whp with the stock 370cc injectors and stock turbos. Once that SR20 shoots a rod like SR20s do when you try to get 7k rpm plus outta the worst 4cyl known to man, throw in a VH45 if you wanna be actually unique, or the NA-TT VG like yall shouldve done the first time. 2+2 dont deserve having a weaker motor in them. The longer wheelbases handles torque so much better than the 2+0. Use it.

If it makes 600rwhp how many times can it reliably do it before the engine goes 💥 kaa-boom💥, clank clank💨 clunk clunk💨, clank 💨💨?
@@throtl any way you guys could print a long sleeve 300z shirt?
The dynamic between Ricky and Quinn is gold.
Thank you
Ya it’s a matter of when, for them to have their own channel, just like donut and big time
Yeah, man, these two guys are great. Love their passion
They are one of the many reasons why i watch.
It’s so dope watching them together, they feed off each others energy so well. Makes the videos that much more enjoyable

Never this early but beyond excited to hear that thing rip, need a test drive with the boys asap! always awesome to see a project come together!
These 300zx videos are helping me on my build!!! Great work, guys!!!

I don't think I've seen a dynamic dyno episode like this on throtl, great video
Love when Quinn starts explaining things. Appreciate his insights.
I remember asking for a Z32 build... Had my doubts when yall decided on the SR20. Not anymore! Looking forward to the next video.
Quinn and Ricky are my two favorites tbh. Guys act like long lost brothers lmao

Quinn and Ricky combo are pure gold! Awesome work. God bless
16:53 - Love to see the Apexi D1GP FD3S in the background.
Can't wait to see how much power it makes once the bigger injectors are in the engine! Sounds amazing!
I would be happy with 440. But I like that there is room to go higher. Great job guys!!
That car is awesome ! Even if it makes 400-500 or even 200hp I don’t even care. It looks so much good ! Props to you guys ! Nice work

The dynamic duo Quinn & Ricky
The honesty in throtl's videos is unmatched.
I love you guys so much! The 300z is amazing!
Hats off to Quinn for another premium built engine, and all others who helped
Big like before watching! Greetings from Germany and nice work on that 300ZX.
This has to be one of my favorite builds! Love it, want it!!
That car sounds amazing, great work with this one she is a real pretty one too
400+ is awesome for the car.. so bravo on another sweet mod and thanks for sharing...
Might want to add another port on the valve cover to let that thing breathe a little better if the dipstick is being pushed out.
Love this Car 🔥
Not a hoodie guy but i think i might pick up one of those. they looks super soft an comfy

Congratulations! You made what a stock motor stock turbo breather mod only vg30 on e85 makes, with significantly less torque.
Exactly. Imagine throwing all that money on a vg, they would make much more than 600whp

Mech experience is Mean 💯
Yall gotta build and tune an Acura Integra Type R💯
When do we get to see the dyno pulls with the larger injectors?
Should have stuck with a VG. It wouldnt have had any issues making 600whp.
They are not having any issue... they have to brake in the motor... if u know about cars u should know that
You guys better pray no kid pulls up with an Awd honda Civic and gopro and Laptop 😂
More Z32 content! 🖤
As soon as I found out that it needed bigger injectors, I would have been on the phone to Becky asking him to pick them up and bring them over to finish the tuning.
Such a good looking and sounding car.
What's a dyno session like this typically cost?
I want a is300 2jZ get swap build
Someone tell Quinn absolutely nobody cares about crank horsepower when you're on a dyno, it's all about WHP
Such an underrated car
Where did he datsun 510 video go? Came back to watch it and I can find it.
It sounds so good
Is it really better without the VG? Well, no.
So should I also leave one hose off my catch can as well? Do you keep it permanently off?
Whats tj hunts guy doing with the throttle guys? Or do they just look alike 🤔
Has the Throtl team ever considered working on first gen fairlady or the first Honda imported into the U.S.?
It needs a wing 😮 it's a beautiful car
You guys should build a 4.6L 3V mustang !!
With how far that oil filter is from the engine might want to double check oil levels after it’s on lol
What size injectors ?
Big question for you guy at throtl do you guys break in the engine in before you dyno it
I bet ya’ll love BC’s

I keep thinking that was the blow off valve but it’s Ricky
🤣🤣🤣 Come on bro !!!!
Exhaust needs more of an upward angle
400hp is very safe for that engine type. 700hp is for the V6 and vs the world!
What size cc's were the injectors?
He loves BCs
Wow, what a nightmare at the dyne SMH
