Just sold and moved out of an HOA neighborhood. Just bought a beautiful home in an older, established neighborhood with no HOA and the neighborhood is nicer than our old one. I’ll never live in an HOA again.
I will never live in an HOA, because I refuse to have some nerd who doesn’t pay my bills try to tell me how to live my life. I have, however, done renovations for over a decade and have had to deal with numerous HOA‘s trying to give my clients crap. Unless they are going to buy you a new car, they have no right to tell you that your vehicle is too loud or how long you should warm it up in the morning. In most cases having a straight piped Corvette is literally the best way to get back at your HOA in a way that they can’t retaliate.
I just moved out of one. But it wasn’t the hoa that was the problem. It was the nasty old lady next door. She would walk around the entire community and take picture of peoples houses and property and email them to hoa to complain like if they had a bird bath up or something like that. She would always complain about one of our cars in a visitor spot that no one ever used or used and the hoa didn’t care but she kept complaining anyways. Even the security at the gate is tired of her. Shit is crazy. She even called the cops on me one time for being in our garage at 2 am. Like wtf u doing looking into my house at 2 in the morning then calling the cops and wasting their time like u see all our cars out front but call the cops because what? My garage light was on in the middle of the night? wtf? Couldn’t stand that lady. Glad I’m out of there. Never again I’ll tell u that.
He seems polite and also telling her to be careful she doesn't trip, she probably taught he was a nice kid especially showing her the car and explaining it to her, always treat elders with respect!
That's what I gathered from this as well. Nice to see the younger generation respecting their elder. And I believe this took her back to a good place. I've always enjoyed conversations with my elders, personally.
Precisely why I would NEVER buy a house with a HOA. You might as well, continue renting. You won’t have freedom to do what you please with a HOA agreement. Plus, there will always be a petty neighbor or HOA management harassing you unnecessary over issues that really aren’t their business and possibly start discrimination actions, against you. It’s almost like renting a apartment.

It depends on the HOA. I live in a house under an HOA. The HOA fees for the year are 240 dollars. Our HOA basically covers the common area grounds keeping and painting the signs at the entrances to the development, which is a small development with 120 homes. They enforce keeping your home in good condition and looking nice. I have lived here for 6 years and know of only 2 times that a homeowner was advised to take care of their property. I like that our community is very well kept and clean. Another thing is, we have no amenities like pools, hot tubs, gyms or most anything that HOA's with fees like 500 dollars a month to cover all that stuff. In bigger Associations I have read the horror stories, but that is not the case with ours.
This lady resembles my late great grandmother. Down to the white hair and elderly posture. When my granny was 92 years old she was still sharp as a tack, living on her own, and driving. Which was terrifying to everyone else who saw her on the road in her big Astro van, wearing her huge opaque sunglasses that fit over her prescription glasses (looking like something Luke Skywalker would wear to train with his lightsaber) barely poking up above the steering wheel. Going like 80mph, getting airborne over hills lol.. i always thought it was a trip. The conversations about maybe taking her license away started in my family when she was in her early 80s after she fell on ice and broke her hip, but she was having none of it. But when she was 91 she moved to a smaller house right in town (rather than the old farmhouse out in the country) and that picked the conversations back up because she was a block away from the elementary school, and around alot more pedestrians and traffic, plus she wouldn't need it as much being closer to things and only a couple blocks away from my parent's house. So right before her 93rd birthday she finally relented. She was dead about 5-6 months later.. Miss you granny, rip. Hope you're raising hell and scaring God in your van up in heaven... :)
@@ironpanther2420 she certainly was. She was great to visit at her home. Always seeming to have some freshly baked biscotti for me to eat. My experience of loud pipes is that they're usually tolerated if the operator is considerate and sensible. If you start your vehicle and move off they don't cause too much annoyance. If you sit there revving the engine then they do. Some are just obnoxiously loud all the time, but most engines are tolerable for short periods at low revs.
In Texas, HOA's can be disbanded by getting 67 percent of the property owners signature and filing proper paper work with the state. We disbanded ours with the help or the new board nominees (who were for disbanding) we elected when the developer turned it over to us. The management company tried to talk us into keeping it. LOL Never been happier since.
I bought my house, on my property. Unless you’re either paying my bills or sleeping with me, I really don’t care about your opinion on my property. Unless you are an absolutely lovely neighbor who is seriously the people in the world, then I will bend over backwards to not disturb you. I have had the greatest neighbors for the past 32 years. My wife lost her job due to missing work taking care of me. They have literally made sure my bills have been paid!! I only have the four neighbors, and I’m telling you they are the greatest!!

@@SlumpTia How about next time they're outside and she has her kids exposed for all to see, you call the police. I could be wrong, but I'm almost certain it's illegal for anyone to be naked outside where people can see them. As they're children, the parents are responsible, as I'm sure you're aware. Wouldn't that come under indecent exposure? She's purposefully exposing her child's naked body for people to see. You shouldn't be expected to deal with that if you're minding your own business sitting outside doing what you're doing. Now she might think it's acceptable. The funny thing is, if you were living next to her and near her where she's from, I don't think she or anyone else would allow you to live how you did in the US. You'd be given a quick reminder that you're not in the US and to respect their way of living or deal with the consequences. The same should apply here. If she wants to expose her children to others, then isn't she a borderline sexual predator? I don't really give a fuck if it's normal where she's from. Nobody else should either. She's no longer over there. She doesn't need reminding. All she has to do is look around. You might want to look into that in terms of a parent deliberately exposing her child's naked body knowing her neighbour/neighbours can see. Also, if you don't. I don't make sure you have surveillance cameras covering your vehicles. If those kids "accidentally" damage one or both of your cars, do you think you'll get an apology and an offer to rectify the damage? Make sure to look after you and your own. I hate to say it, but sometimes, but people like that and her family keep the stereotypes alive. You know, I'd say to be an "asshole" with them. But playing it smart is a better way to go. So definitely look up the laws around parents intentionally exposing their children to people. It might even come under child abuse. Just because a child doesn't mind, doesn't mean it's right. Most children don't even know they're being abused in any way until they get older. Anyhow. All the best. Doesn't sound like a fun person to live next to.
I thought the same thing until last month when I bought a house in a non-HOA neighborhood. I can see 3 different eyesore hoarder neighbors from my front porch, trash blowing down the street from them everywhere. Cars driving past at all hours of the day with aftermarket subs blasting bass so loud it rattles the house near the point of cracking windows. And four nocturnal college age kids a few doors down all with straight pipe civics who think they're professional drag racers at 3AM. Just sold and moved out of an HOA neighborhood. Just bought a beautiful home in an older, established neighborhood with no HOA and the neighborhood is nicer than our old one. I’ll never live in an HOA again.
This is such a great blog post. When's part two?
I literally moved to get out of HOAs. No regrets.
Buy acreage so you can live free! Best decision I ever made. F the loser nosy neighbors! 😂
Our HOA never complains about loud cars, bikes, etc. They just dont like me blocking the sidewalk overnight. 😅. Trip hazard they said😂
I just moved out of one.
@@Armory52 that's kind of a no brainer. Blocking the sidewalk is an asshole move no matter if you live in an HOA or not.
Ahhhh, finally my excuse to the wife to buy that Corvette! Thanks brother 😅
@@richhoops2413 ye it's good hearing there stories and one day we will all be that age and will also want to be treated with respect!

That's when you pay some teens to tag up neighbors fences constantly
No I heard it's even worse you could be barbecuing they will harass you....
Worse than, actually. Waaay worse. Just look up the countless horror stories and atrocities committed by numerous corrupt and evil HOAs all over.

LoL, it’s not a club everyone chooses to join. If you build a house in a new sub-division there will be an HOA. You have no choice. You can either live in the hood next to a renter that doesn’t mow his yard or you can live out in the middle of nowhere. Otherwise you’ve gotta deal with this old bag coming over to make sure you aren’t going full hill billy in the middle of civilization.
You don't. You move into an area and then get a letter one day saying "oh yeah btw there's some asses who's rules you have to abide by now"

Here in Hawaii, my HOA complaints about something that they can’t see or hear…my Ham Radio! 🤣😂🤣😂🤣
I had a big CB radio once that would talk through turned off computers and TVs for about a 300 foot radius of my home. I got rid of it after one neighbor recorded it and came to me about it. I didn't want to be that guy. You're working with maybe, what, 10 watts? That shouldn't hurt anything. We need more HAM operators because all the old guys are dying off.
Never get rid of your Ham radio or CB radio. Cause when shit starts to hit the fan in this world...not that it already has...but when it gets really bad, you will need them.

I can't imagine having to deal with those kind of problems😅
My experience of loud pipes is that they're usually tolerated if the operator is considerate and sensible. If you start your vehicle and move off they don't cause too much annoyance. If you sit there revving the engine then they do. Some are just obnoxiously loud all the time, but most engines are tolerable for short periods at low revs.

City people deserve HOAs
In Texas, HOA's can be disbanded by getting 67 percent of the property owners signature and filing proper paper work with the state. We disbanded ours with the help or the new board nominees (who were for disbanding) we elected when the developer turned it over to us. The management company tried to talk us into keeping it. LOL Never been happier since.

it’s hard because we even came out to introduce our selfs & they just scoffed, laugh at us & asked if our puppy was a pet or something else (asking if we EAT our dog!!!) it’s a frenchbulldog like no we don’t eat it.
i miss my old neighbors . they had morals, respected us & the property line.
next house i move into i will NOT be sharing a driveway…even if i still have the bigger lot /driveway. if we ever ask them to quiet down or get the fuck from our vehicles they just laugh at us & the mom doesn’t say anything but glare at me while her kids (true story) spit & shake their ass in my face while laughing infront if the mom/dad not giving a fuck . but the mom will care when cops are called ( we live in inner city st. paul minnesota ) & the worst part of the hood in east side, they think they’re in the suburbs & do some stupid shit that i’m surprised they haven’t got shot or snatched up tbh
