Really? I have that same annoying rattle and have been trying to figure out where it was coming from. Though it only makes the noise at certain times and situations. Do you have to get under the vehicle to see it or can you see it from up top, looking down at the engine? Thank you for the post!
You can see it when lying under cat looking straight up at exhaust. There is a 1/2" solid round rod that comes from a bracket bolted to the engine block across to the exhaust. That was broken on mine & previous owners mechanic had done an atrocious job trying to weld it up. I fixed it myself by welding it, then half round sleeved it and then welded sleeve down. I still think the noise levels are a tad high which could re related to the decoupled as someone suggested. Cheers
these engines total junk....mine through a rod punched hole in block at 150k miles...now just sitting behind my garage 2yrs now...what to do with junk? chrysler screwed us all with this. never buying chrysler again.
schickmann, join the club. About 6mths ago this engine suffered a fatal oil pump bearing failure. It also failed spectacularly and shot the Conrod through the block. Oil was changed every 5,000km!!!!remember this engine is not a Chrysler engine. My advice, get a known 2nd hand engine like we did, flash it for more power and enjoy it instead of mothering it like we did. Change the tensioner every 40,000km and all should be good. All these high powered common rail Diesel engines are prone to failure as they are so highly strung. Your options are Petrol!!! Or an old mechanical fuel pump vehicle. I’ll take the later once we’ve got some enjoyment out of this one.
Ok, sorry should have reported back. It was a broken exhaust mount right where the solid rod is welded to the cat/dump pipe. Welded it up and perfect.
Mine have the same noise. started from few days ago. So annoying... Mine's Automatic trans.
Hi guys, do you had problems with JK's Rubicon '11 performance due to the exhaust particulate filter?
Filipe Sousa rubicon doesn't have a DPF?
The tensioner should not be moving! I would check your decoupler. I had this very issue recently
Explain why you chose this diesel?!?!
They all sound
Like that
