@@TheLastPrime38 skenes has been historically great and 130+ innings is nothing to scoff at. I’d like to see a co rookie of the year but like I said if skenes doesn’t win it this year literally no pitcher ever should win roty
Not the way I am reading it (ESPN stats ) : Skenes ended with a 5.9 WAR pitching; Merrill ended with a 4.4 WAR batting . I don't know if you are adding fielding into that . Merrill had one of the lowest OBPs of the 50 best hitters; a definite knock. Skenes was "pulled" from two no-nit performances because of the Pirates staying steadfast in limiting his innings for the entire year (inc minors). What would his odds have been had he finished the one as a no-hitter? Criminal if he doesn't win it.
I really don't understand this argument for Mendoza over Shildt. The Padres were 82-80 last year. They lost 3 of their 5 starting rotation, including the reigning Cy Young winner, and Juan freaking Soto. They are guaranteed at least 91 wins, and are all but locked for WC1. So why is the Mets getting WC3 more impressive?
Hear me out with AJ Hinch... He was literally working with 2 starting pitchers and a bunch of Triple A bullpen arms and turned it from a 10 game under .500 team to a 10+ games over .500 team after selling at the deadline as well. Vogt woulkd win it every year and hell maybe he will still win it this year but Hinch's case is greater than some think.
Chris sale went I guess went like hey, I’m not going to get injured this season, and look what happened. As a Red Sox fan, I just wanna say why did you do this
Jackson Merrill deserves it over Skenes. If Skenes was just a normal guy and not a top draft pick he would just be another guy finishing top 5-7 behind Merrill.
I agree with all your winners. The only thing is how do you not give a shout-out to Reynaldo Lopez for Cy Young. Or Marcell Ozuna for MVP. Both have had incredible years. Ozuna was battling Shohei for the triple crown until Shohei went insane and Ozuna went cold on his homers and rbis. That’s my only complaint. Other than that yeah. The winners are obvious this year
Will you be doing a year end top 100 players of the year similar to the list you did at the beginning of the year? I’d be interested to see how the two lists match up.

I don't think he'll win by any means but I think Michael Busch deserves an honorable mention for ROTY. He's having a really good rookie season that's pretty under the radar. I mean he's second in homers with 21 and he walks way more than all the other position players mentioned. He also adapted pretty nicely at first base.
I know you’re a Mets fan, but no mention of Ozuna in the MVP race is diabolical. He’s kept our heads above water offensively all year with the injuries and underperformance.
By saying “Abrae has better stats than Cowser” did you just mean to say he’s got a slightly better average? Cowser ls also a better defender and better base runner
with WAYYY more plate appearances. the reason why wilyer isnt in the race is because he's a platoon bat that doesnt face lefties whose OPS is about the same level of cowsers who plays against both sides of pitching. the only real argument against cowser is his negative batting run value because of his situational hitting. but its still his award in my opinion
The Padres would absolutely trade Merrill for Skenes in a heartbeat. Having Skenes in your rotation wins you a WS. Merrill is very good and might get you a clutch hit, but Skenes will win you an entire series by himself. Not his fault his team stinks and doesn't have a ginormous payroll like SD
For those of you who are new to this channel, please disregard any opinions given regarding Mets players or coaches. Case in point, this dude thinks the NL Manager of the Year should go the guy managing the HIGHEST PAYROLL in the entire league and is scratching and clawing to even make the playoffs.
Not disagreeing with the Skubal pick, as it is the right pick, but where would you put Clase with his dominant season closing? Any love for a closer finishing second, with an argument getting first place votes?
I don’t think you’re San Diego Padres hater, but there is no chance that Jackson Merrill is not the rookie of year as an everyday player contributing far more than starting pitcher.
Going into this year i saw most people with tigers being better than guards. Just cuz the tigers sucked the first half and came back doesnt negate the fact they sucked the first half! Cleveland didnt have to make a comeback! That is a positive not a negative. Oh and this is vogts first year while hinch won a world series before. Definitely vogt if you ignore recency bias.
Im wondering the exact same thing as Wilyer Abreu. He’s basically has more abs than Wells and his stats are just straight up better and Wells and Cowser. Not to mention is he is an amazing defender in right field
A big reason why Paul Skeans should win ROTY in my opinion is because he’s been arguably the most hyped up pitching prospect ever, and not only has he lived up to the hype you could argue he’s surpassed them
Dude, yes. He finished with the BEST era in baseball by far (albeit limited innings ); incredible. Merrill (sure...many kudos) had one of the worst OBPs (.326) of the 50 best hitters. Yeah..I overlook that if Skenes wasn't in the equation.
Cade Smith deserves at least a AL ROY finalist. Dude has been the best reliever in baseball not named Clase as a rookie. I think Cowser probably wins, but Cade Smith is 2nd in my book
While I don’t think roberts should win manager of the year, but he deserves recognition. His pitching staff has been through hell and back, and to still win the division even with the padres and dbacks playing like they have been is an accomplishment.
This is a weird award year where a lot of the major award winners have been pretty obvious for a while barring some kind of epic collapse. Ohtani 50/50 is a no brainer. Judge in the AL. Skubal crushing in Detroit likely finishing with the AL pitching triple crown. And Sale dominating. I’m very happy Sale will finally get his Cy. It’s the one feather in the cap he hasn’t had yet.
Luis Gil v Paul Skenes on Saturday. So everybody, if you love baseball and you have the ability to watch that game... Watch that game. Skenes facing Soto and Judge in an actual game for the first time. And Gil has the ability to match Skenes if he's on.
At the end of the day, Merrill impacts his team more on a daily basis and has that clutch gene apparently where he comes up big in high pressure situations. His late home runs are basically directly responsible for 6 Padres wins down the stretch in a playoff race. Sometimes you gotta throw the stats out the window and maybe it is the narrative, but Paul Skenes hasn't played in a single game that matters yet while Merrill is a huge reason the Padres are in the playoffs.
@@brycezatchey4961 Not saying Skenes hasn't been great, but, Merrill is 2x NL rookie of the month and has won NL player of the week. Dude went from never playing OF in his career to stepping in and immediately being one of the best centerfielders in the league.

I’m sorry but orchestrating the greatest single season turnaround in MLB history should win you Manager of the Year. If it doesn’t go to Q that’s insane!
I get that RoY awards are for new faces coming in to the MLB, but Imanaga has played pro ball in the NPB for years. He's a "rookie" in the MLB-debut sense, but a veteran of the game. Chatter of CY Young votes over RoY makes sense to me.
Very biased Braves fan here, but i think Snitker should get MOY. After all the injuries we had this year and still nearly getting 90 wins and making the playoffs is super impressive imo
Shota Imanaga shouldn't get rookie of the year because he's already played in Japan for so long. It's not the spirit of the award. He's not a true rookie that is young and just came up having a breakout season. If they want to give him something MLB should create a newcomer of the year award
The Mets and Braves are going to have a tough last 5 games of the season now they have to make up 2 games because of weather. It sucks for Witt and Soto that Judge was just that much better this season. I always felt they should split the MVP into 2 winners for each league. The BEST player and the Most Valuable Player
Didnt mention a Met for ROY, Lindor is quite literally going to finish top 3 in MVP, Mendoza has a good chance at MOY. Manaea was only one thats a stretch and i even admitted that
As a red Sox fan it pains me and makes me happy to see Chris sale finally playing so well just wished he could have been healthy for Boston also i think Abreu not getting more love for rookie of the year is nuts
Carlos Mendoza shouldn't have any more claim to manager of the year than Brian Snitker. The Braves had to deal with far more injuries than the Mets did and they still managed to beat the Mets for the 5 seed in the NL.
Those first 2-3 months with Imanaga were fun for roty chances then Skenes and Merrill came along and Imanaga had a couple of bad starts and the Cubs were a dumpster fire for the middle of the year. Unfortunate

Ok pirates fan😂@richardguida1598
I really don't understand this argument for Mendoza over Shildt.
The Padres were 82-80 last year. They lost 3 of their 5 starting rotation, including the reigning Cy Young winner, and Juan freaking Soto. They are guaranteed at least 91 wins, and are all but locked for WC1.
So why is the Mets getting WC3 more impressive?
Murphy over both, but Shildt is still better than Mendoza.
Don't forget losing josh hader aswell
Hear me out with AJ Hinch... He was literally working with 2 starting pitchers and a bunch of Triple A bullpen arms and turned it from a 10 game under .500 team to a 10+ games over .500 team after selling at the deadline as well. Vogt woulkd win it every year and hell maybe he will still win it this year but Hinch's case is greater than some think.
Brewers weren’t even suppose to sniff the playoffs and Pat Murphy brought them to a 90+ win season with one of the cheapest rosters in baseball
and this is why Francisco Lindor and Sean Manaea will win MVP and NL Cy Young
Ohtani, Brent Rooker 2nd. Lindor might be 5th.
Jackson Merrill ROTY!
Typical dumb Padres fan. Probably didn't watch the team til 2022
You know nothing about ball then. A 1.99 era is unheard of especially for a rookie. Merrill isn’t even close to the level of dominant that Skenes is
@@bigdaddystumps7930 that guy is not very smart. He did not pass grade school I feel like.
Hinch winning manager of the year would be the worst timeline
You forgot about giving well deserved recognition to Masyn Winn of the Saint Louis Cardinals
The winners are obvious this year
Brewers take 2/3 or sweep the mets to solidify Murphy moty campaign
Will you be doing a year end top 100 players of the year similar to the list you did at the beginning of the year? I’d be interested to see how the two lists match up.
I think Merrill & Skenes will be CO- ROY'S
His mechanics are flawless, his control precise,
Striking out batters like rolling dice.
Armed with a fastball that blazes and bends,
A mind like a veteran, where skill never ends.
While others may falter, he thrives under stress,
A future ace born to outshine the rest.

Hey, can you do this for the gold gloves? Thanks.
Merrill is winning ROTY. At least the Padres are in the playoffs unlike the Pirates who are eliminated from playoff contention
Whatever you do, don't look at Jackson Merrill's splits against LHP.
That doesn’t affect individual awards voting
The Padres would absolutely trade Merrill for Skenes in a heartbeat. Having Skenes in your rotation wins you a WS. Merrill is very good and might get you a clutch hit, but Skenes will win you an entire series by himself. Not his fault his team stinks and doesn't have a ginormous payroll like SD
Agree with just about everything you said. However a name that you didn't mention that I think deserves some love is Ronel Blanco.
Cubs hired Craig counsel as a new manager. Cubs ended up with the same record. Kind of disappointing
Unsubscribing. Oswaldo Cabrera is the clear AL MVP, and Cody Poteet is the clear AL cy young
How can i find put the best players this season that are rookies from the 2022 & 2023 season
The team you picked to finish last in the NL Central was the first team in the league to clinch their division. Pat Murphy NL COTY no question.
If you think Paul Skenes isn’t ROY you just don’t know ball lol
I ain't reading allat
@@brycezatchey4961 Not saying Skenes hasn't been great, but, Merrill is 2x NL rookie of the month and has won NL player of the week. Dude went from never playing OF in his career to stepping in and immediately being one of the best centerfielders in the league.
Whatever you do, don't look at Merrill's stats vs. LHP.
@@williamharvey124 they've gotten better the last month or so at least. I think he was batting under .200 earlier in the season
I like Mendoza because the Mets started slow this year and put it together at the right time. Wouldn't be mad seeing the Brewers manager win tho definitely great season with a nice amount of young players
Imagine being the franchise player and the moment you go on the IL your team goes from zero to hero.
Sale has deserved a Cy Young for so long and I’m glad he’s finally getting one
Shildt skipper of the year Merrill ROTY
as a padres fan, i agree.
I wonder what ur favorite team is..
I think shotas not in roy conversations cause everyone recognizes him being a rookie feels like a technicality
The Mets and Braves are going to have a tough last 5 games of the season now they have to make up 2 games because of weather. It sucks for Witt and Soto that Judge was just that much better this season. I always felt they should split the MVP into 2 winners for each league. The BEST player and the Most Valuable Player
As a Seattle Mariners fan i appreciate the Bryce Miller shoutout. He hasn't gotten enough hype this year for how dominant he has been.
8:53 Webb also has 200 innings, will likely lead the NL in innings for the second straight year
He somehow managed to talk about a met in every category, idk how he does it
Didnt mention a Met for ROY, Lindor is quite literally going to finish top 3 in MVP, Mendoza has a good chance at MOY. Manaea was only one thats a stretch and i even admitted that
As a red Sox fan it pains me and makes me happy to see Chris sale finally playing so well just wished he could have been healthy for Boston also i think Abreu not getting more love for rookie of the year is nuts
Brent Rooker should get some MVP votes for sure. Deserves a mention
Carlos Mendoza shouldn't have any more claim to manager of the year than Brian Snitker. The Braves had to deal with far more injuries than the Mets did and they still managed to beat the Mets for the 5 seed in the NL.
If alex verdugo is not AL MVP, im unsubscribing
Mr. Groundout to second
@@KingNoah8372dang lol
I’m a yankee fan and even I know that that’s bs
Sale finally getting his Cy Young with the Braves of all teams after not pitching a full season in 7 years has to be sickening for marc lmao
Gotta give some love to Yordan and Vladdy in my opinion I don’t think Ramirez will finish top 5 in mvp votes because these 2
9:04 Seth Lego be looking like big justice
Those first 2-3 months with Imanaga were fun for roty chances then Skenes and Merrill came along and Imanaga had a couple of bad starts and the Cubs were a dumpster fire for the middle of the year. Unfortunate
