Tim, you have done a few "foamies" so I would be interested in your comparison of assembly, hardware quality, and flight characteristics. Perhaps add this segment to your next foamie build.
I recently did a Twisted Hobbies foamie and was not impressed. Instructions were not clear. Some of the hardware was difficult to work with and easy to screw up, which I did. Balancing it out to get it to fly right was a chore, but thanks to my fellow club members who helped me through it. It was not a fun project for a noob.
The Futaba build looks rather straightforward but I was disappointed you had to add your design of the control rods. I expect these kits to just go together and not have to overcome their design flaws to get a satisfactory result.
Keep up the good work. All the best.

John: As a general rule I like foamies a lot. But, that being said, some fly better than others. I do think RUclips gives a good feel for flight characteristics. RUclips research on various models can help a lot with the right purchase decision.

Good plane Tim but this is not a good learner plane. Trainer planes pull themselves away from the ground and don't keep heading for it. Now you've got a 3D plane next step is to increase them throws my friend. Don't worry expo helps 30% is a good start. Try the nose hang challenge. I have a HK fury 3D plane is great to play with . Keep up the content it's always interesting.

Hi Tim, is this a plane that you could build from scratch?

Is it good for learning to fly? For absolute beginners...
