Mase don’t get enough credit. Introduced basketball to Shammgod, Brought Cam to Biggie, Taught Jim Jones how to rap…
Yea mase did a lot for the culture he needs to be recognized more for that

Nate "Tiny" Archibald, the only player ever to lead the league and in both scoring and assist in the same year! Shammgod giving props to Nate!
Nobody tells stories like a New Yorker. Shout out to Shamgod ! LEGEND !
i was just thinkin that. New York cats tell the best stories
TRUE Indeed, We take Pride in it. I'm older than these Cat's and watched Dr. Jay, Tiny, and Joe Hammond at the Rucker. I did see Shamgod play in his Era. Crazy Nice
Sham was nice… him and ron artest played together in highschool… sham was older.. the city had talent back in the days… wen ny was ny … dam I miss it

We need Stephon Marbury on here!! 🔥
On GODDDDDD
Ive been saying to myself for a minute but this interview sealed it for me, Q does not f*ck with Steph Marbury at all! Anytime his name comes up by a guest he ethier gets quiet and puts his head down or he changes the subject.
Keith Vanhorn
Definitely need Steph, Lance and Bassy on here together. That would be dope
@@illwill718what’s the backstory? Never heard of this
Being from New York, I really enjoyed this interview. God Shammgod is a legend. I could remember like yesterday my older cousins telling me about him. Marbury, Kenny Anderson. Those was the days.
He told a hilarious Kobe story and then followed with a sad one. Shammgod's relationship with so many other basketball legends is incredible.
Sham literally taught me and my boys how to dribble when he was at Providence. We used to sneak in and workout with him and we all went to college for ball whether he knew it or not. Lol. He rocked with us because we went to Lasalle in Providence he was a real humble dude. Always love.
Obviously yall didn’t go to class. It’s WHETHER bruh… not WEATHER lol. Sorry my guy. I’m a teacher ☮️

Do u know b-ball well, just curious if he actually is good ball handler compared to actually players
@@davidchandler6885 not sure what you are trying to say. Lol. He was/is the inspiration for many however, he is also a student of the game so he's one of the guys that pushed things forward. His peers arent lying when they are giving him his flowers. He is iconic for what he brought to the game at that time. Not many guys get that type of adulation

Stephon Marbury was like a mystic back in the early to mid 90's coming out of high school. His hype was bigger than Garnett's & Kobe.Only Surpassed by Bron.He was looked at as the future of the pg position. He's the reason why I started watching college baketball. When he got to GT, I had to see what the hype was about.Back in those days, you had to wait until you saw it on TV.I would read about Steph in Slam Magazine, but to finally see him play was crazy.
For Real 💯... Probaly Bigger Then Kenny Anderson And Jason Kidd In High School....He Could Play In The NBA By 11th Grade
@tremaynebowman7709 All facts!
That's so dope to experience that in you're younger days
Mystic? Lmaooooo KG and Kobe came out of HS.. lmaooooo
@g.anthony2725 look at what he wrote. Marbury was known from the time he was in 9th grade nationally around the country. Going into his signing day with GT they were running his story on shows like Dateline NBC. Garnett and Kobe's names took off after their draft workouts. Gotta remember this was before social media. Marbury and Garnett were in the same McDonald's all American class. Kobe was like a year after. Marbury was a much bigger name going into college then both of them.
This Is Guy Is So Legendary, You Dont Even Understand. You Got NBA MVP And Elite Guards Still Doin A Move Named After This Guy. NYC Legend 🏀, Salute To This Man.

Súper dope episode. I remember the first time I went to Rucker Park in 2000-2001. I’ll never forget the feeling when I heard the guy on the mic say “ladies and gentlemen we have Black Jesus in the building. God Shammgod”. I didn’t even know what he looked like up to that point. Crowd went crazy every time he touched the ball. He was a legend for real.
“Who was in your McDonalds class?”
*mentions everyone but KG* 😂😂😂😂 you know that class was deep
Hearing it from Shammgod you know Killa was nice!
Dope interview. Appreciate everyone here. 🏀
I remember playing with Shammgod on NBA live 99!!!! He was with the Wizards!!!! Living Legend-
Really like this podcast - Q and D genuinely has interest on their guest.
I'll Never Forget The 1995 McDonald's All- American Game...I Was So Hype To See Stephon Marbury Cause I Read About Him In Slam And Darcy Frey Book " The Last Shot"...I Was So Hype....But When Shammgod Wells Came Down The Court Dragging His Feet I LOST MY FUCKING MIND😱

Hey he may only played 20 games in the NBA. But it’s one of the best interviews on the podcast. For real Very entertaining 👍🏾
Being from NYC as a kid and hearing others kids saying ima hit you with the shamgod and to now hear this story is 🤯🤯🤯
Knuckleheads GOATED for this one! ❤🔥
Already an Instant Classic !!! Y'all some fools for this one, GOD IS IN THE BUILDING 💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿. Top 5 best handles ever.
Wow! I never knew Kobe & God were close like that. I love finding out Kobe, and hearing never heard before stories. Thanks fellas!!!
This open my eyes on cam and mase... sham was a special kind of talent .... blessings to him....
Steph was unreal in High School. It was like he was built in a lab. All of his older brothers were nice in ball but either got injured or had off court issues. SO they poured everything into him. He was their last hope. Sorta like D.R🌹se. Steph had a Pro game at 15. Super quick, with a high level Ball IQ, and NYC flare to his game. Anytime he stepped on a court it was a show.
And don't forget how athletic Steph was, one of the first guards I saw catching alley oops
TO BRING SOME CLARITY THROUGH HISTORY. ERIC MARBURY WAS THE FIRST MARBURY TO GO TO DIVISION 1 BASKETBALL AT THE UNIVERSITY OF GEORGIA. I SAW HIM JUNP CENTER IN A HGIH SCHOOL GAME AGAINST BOYS AND GIRLS HIGH SCHOOL CENTER MO SANFORD. ERIC WENT TO GEORGIA WITH A GUY NAMED JEFF THOMAS FROM SHEEPSED BAY HIGH SCHOOL. HUGH DURHAM BROUGHT IN VERN FLEMING AND DOMINIQUE WILKINS WHICH TOOK SHOT OPPORTUNITIES AND THE BALL OUT OF ERIC'S HANDS. ERIC GOT DRAFTED BY THE CLIPPERS AND DID NOT MAKE THE PROS. THE NEXT MARBURY WAS DON MARBURY JR .BETTER DRIBBLER AND BETTER SHOOTER THAN ERIC BUT NOT THE ATHLETE ERIC WAS. HAD A REAL GOOD CAREER AT TEXAS AM, FOR SOME STRANGE REASON HE DID NOT GET DRAFTED. THE . NEXT MARBURY WAS NORMAN. HAD A BETTER HANDLE THAN DON AND ERIC AND COULD SHOOT AS GOOD AS DON AND WAS A BETTER ATHELTE.BUT HE HAD BAD GRADES. PLAYED A COUPLE OF GAMES AT ST FRANCIS COLLEGE. ALL OF THESE MARBURY BROTHERS PUT THEIR EXPERIENCE INTO STEPH WHICH PRODUCED THE TALENTED PLAYER THAT COULD JUMP OUT THE GYM , SHOOT AND DRIBBLE.BUT STEPH'S TEMPERMENT FOR SOME REASON CLASHED WITH MANAGEMENT ,COACHES AND PLAYERS
I don't think any other basketball player or athlete had the amount of pressure Steph had to make the league.Had all talented brothers who could've been pro players, but he combined all their talents and became a monster.Ppl can talk about Steph Curry, but I was watching Marbury shoot 25- 30 + foot shots in HS while in warm ups.30 footers in a game wasn't allowed then.
@@missayawkalot high schoolers can shoot that range even back then
@@stimmybutler6709 i saw him catch a baseline windmill alley vs. Brooklyn Tech. Crazy!😱
Man this episode was too short. We need a part 2.

NYC’s FINEST, THE LEGENDARY GOD SHAMGOD!!!!!!!!
Fellas, I really enjoyed this interview. I love all the content yall put out, but this Shammgod one was dope. I'm 56yrs old and a huge NBA fan. I think it's fascinating to hear all the background stuff that we, as fans, didn't know. Your platform is some of the best parts about the internet. Getting to know these athletes and other celebrities background stories. I'm a fan...
56 as well couldn't have said it better
Thank you for this man. One of my favorites man. Coming from NYC we tried to emulate this dudes. Steph, Kenny, Sham, The Jet, Bogger. Just thank you man for shedding light on the game.
28:02.... ABSOLUTELY TRUE.Used to see Steph shoot from range with ease....in HS from 30+ feet.
Man I’m 49 yrs old. And I have always talked about Shammgod. I have a pair of his sneakers and a T-shirt. I remember a few years ago reading about an interview he gave and he jokingly said he was mad at his parents for having him a few years too early. I’m a Kyrie fan so I’m happy to see him get a chance to work with God. Kyrie does the move in the games. Best handles in the game
SIP Ali Moe we miss u cuz🙏🏾🖤
Going to La Salle Academy and seeing Shamm, Artest, Satterfield and others battle it out was the best time. NYC basketball was elite back then.
Peace to The God Shammgod. Went to see him the year he played for the knicks summer league team in boston. Van Gundy was coaching and God was coming off the bench. Me and my crew wilded out on Van Gundy until he put Shammgod in the game lol. Big Up The God!
Been waiting for this drop since the preview on IG. Love the slept on ballers y’all bring in.
There was a guy named Craig Pendergrass- from Queens NYC who used to dribble high and wide in order to bait people to reach. He was a killer at PG as well.
Being introduced to basketball by legendary rappers is cold
Cam and mase could really hoop tho
There's nothing like listening to 90s hoop legends tell stories.
Another great guest man I love this show them early 80s babies know what is
Just used the ShamGod yesterday morning at the hoop session. 😤
Yes Nate Tiny arch was helping kids in my old school, definitely a hero. I.S 275. Junior high , definitely remember , classic moments sham 😊
I’ve never clicked on a pod faster! LG
I like hearing these old stories. It reminds me of growing up playing playground ball in L.A & Compton area. Different experience than New York I'm sure. But we all know dudes that made to the league from our areas. And it's a bunch that coulda/shoulda made but didn't for whatever reason. This was when was basketball at its purest. No one cared about stats.. and goats and top 5s, top 10s and all that social media bullcrap. Notice at one point, he didn't have no clue about anyone or anything in the nba. He just knew basketball and how to play by watching and playing with dudes in and around his circle. That's how it use to be..
Youngn's dont know how hype it was to see Shamgod do his move in national tv when he was in college. #Legend
GLAD to see he got a job in the league as he should be.
🔥 Dope interview 🔥
Shoutout to a Providence College legend ⚫️⚪️
Its crazy how some of the guest stories align with previous guest. Its like we seeing the same movie from everyones own perspective
4 years go to the NBA man. This guy is the reason why I cared about college basketball. Randolph childress at Wake Forest with Tim Duncan Paul Pierce at Kansas Ray LaFrance. He mentioned John Wallace. Jason Kidd went to Cal. The O'Bannon brothers at UCLA Iverson and Georgia tech college basketball NCAA will never be the same. I feel bad because sham God was light years ahead of his time
Between this and the Gil’s Arena pod with Pat Bev today was an elite day in basketball content

This is crazy right here.... if you don't know, you about to know. So many people on this 'cast called out Shammgod as one of the best. NYC legend in legendary times. Oh y'all came back with that smoke 😂....we here for it
The originator of a basketball move is just crazy. Thee Shammgod. 💪🏾 🏀
No his not, it's move from some Balkan European basketball player, i forgot the name but you can Google it. But he definitely make it popular, props to him.
@@greez499 you really think he saw that move from him ? Like stfu
@@greez499Nah, you had someone like Pistol Pete doing something similar to the Shammgod dribble (without even carrying/palming), back in the 70s!
Same as the EURO step.. Elgin Baylor was doing it, Dr J did it, even Sidney Moncrief or Jordan himself; yet people still think it came from Europe or whatever. Nothin is new under the sun though, and people who popularized something, didn’t even originate it…….
@@BasketballJones48021 i don't say i 100% confident i read this from different sources while ago, but really i don't care this much. Any way sham god is a legend. I only know this move called "el latigo" in Spanish, and have similar moove in football (soccer) called elastico.
He did originate it. The European move is not the same. It’s called the whip. You just Theo the ball out and whip it back. No skip to it. Most of these guys are doing the Whip , not the Shamgod! Just look at how he does it. It’s different from what you see others do. He was doing that move in high school!
What a great interview🔥🔥🔥
