I have been listening to this song every night before falling asleep, its therapeutic, helps me get my thoughts together and connect with my emotions, brings me peace. I hope it brings that to many others in this world.
This song was my introduction to PoS and holy shit, when Daniel says "it's a scary one", he's not wrong. This song hit me hard. I was honestly frightened to listen to it a second time. While I like a lot of prog, much of it comes off as a somewhat emotionless display of virtuosity. I'm so glad PoS is different.
I absolutely love Pain of Salvation. They are one of my favorite all time bands. Daniel Gildenlöw is an incredible musician, song writer, singer, guitarist and multi instrumentalists. I wish these guys were bigger in the states. Daniel Gildenlöw isn’t afraid to step out of the norms and his creativity and ability to write songs that have meaning and soul is what I love about this band. Polyrhythms, odd time signature, instrumental and some time on the brink of chaos. Yet they somehow come together and end up amazing. As a musician I appreciate bands that stand out. I wish I could find other Musicians that aren’t afraid to step out and be creative. Unfortunately it’s hard to find anyone that is willing to do something original. I hope they make it my way on this tour so I can see them live. Spread the word and the music of Pain of Salvation.
Check out Devin Townsend :) he's a pretty crazy dude as well. Very different style tho. Check out the official video of "Genesis", and if you want a nice live performance look for "Deadhead" live at Royal Albert Hall ^^
I learned of them through Cruise to the Edge. The most amazing band most of America is not listening to. I was there as well, just to the right of this camera.
5:16 - that second chorus, especially the way they do it live with those lush harmonies brought out... as it blends with audience members singing along... HEAVEN. Also, beautifully shot!
It sucks this song is the only one that brings any emotion out of me, because it's a real gem. I'm a fairly stoic person but this song makes that facade disappear quickly and brings me to tears.
I was here for this, pretty much right up front and to the right. Truly a beautiful moment I won't soon forget. There were so many tears around me when the lights came up.
Damn man, this one of the most emotional and dark metal songs out there with its dynamic changes and all. Such a good band. The singers voices live are even good. How they match dynamics and the crazy riff heavy parts man, what a ride. This is one of the best prog songs I think. One of the best songs. The fact the dude who filmed this did a pretty good job for a long song is nice too. I wonder what he was using.
Truly amazing song, and really great video quality! I took a few vids, and will probably post them. Usually I take vids of a lot of songs, but I really just wanted to be in the present and enjoy the show. I met them all before the show, and told Daniel I was probably gonna get goosebumps if they played that, and he said "Yeah, me too." They were all quite nice, Gustav in particular. He was asking me more about living in NYC than I was asking him about himself!
Steve Hoffman Thanks. I hear you about enjoying the moment. it's definitely a trade off, that's why I only tape a few songs. The band seems cool. was that part of a meet and greet?
Yes, it was at the meet and greet. Since everyone was focused on Daniel, I spoke with the other guys for well over 30 minutes. Ragnar was intensely calm, if that makes sense. I'm attempting to recreate his focused gaze in my personal life. Really intense! Ha! Leo was funny and really casual, and spilled some funny personal info that made the other guys laugh, and of which I shall not repeat. I'm a drummer, but strangely didn't ask him about his fav drummers, although we did speak about his endorsements. Daniel K talked about his wife, and where they lived. But was otherwise fairly silent, except for sharing that the intro to Meaningless is a sample of Ragnar's voice. I knew already that it was a song that he (Ragnar) wrote and recorded for his other band, Sign, but it was cool to hear how they created the sounds.
I think the Image is beautiful, but the sound is really bad. Maybe the place was not properly acoustic prepared, ir maybe it was just from where it was recorded. Sounds metallic, i have been to a gig of POS recently and the sound was amazing, from where i was and my videos had really good sound. But still, its beautiful to watch this video. His smile fills the room and the song is sooo touching. The Blondie, his voice doesnt fit though.
He's just a bit off in the harmonies here 😥. He kills it in the studio (obviously) and on Meaningless and Full Throttle Tribe in this very performance.
Daniel's vocals are still great, especially considering the strain that age, touring and how much time in he spent in the hospital will causes, it's a wonder he can still sing at all to be honest

Yes, last song of the day. I´m with you and do the same ritual.
This song is so powerful, Surely do my friend.
I don't like this song but your comment gave me a different perspective! Thanks.
This man was born to be on stage.

I was there.. it was a surreal moment.. there were people crying, very touching song..
Was that you speaking with Mike Portnoy's wife?
yeah I did talk to her.. you have some great memory man! :P
Haha, yeah, I was standing beside you. You almost hit me with an extra large backpack, if I recall correctly!
Oh I'm sorry man.. was in the city just for the day, the bag was annoying me too.. but the concert was totally worth it..
Haha, no prob! Was only mentioning it in jest!

This is probably some of the best live recording I've ever seen that wasn't official. The camera must be expensive as hell
Daniel only gets more and more beautiful on stage...
You can see him choke up on the last few lines. It's beautiful
This is actually a beautifully shot fan video. If they ever decided to do a proper music video for this song, they should use some of this footage!
I heard this masterpiece live in April, in São Paulo. One of the best moments of my entire life.
You should be listed as World Cultural Heritage. Thank you for the amazing footage.

This song always makes me cry. Beautiful, beautiful song!
Pain of salvation is just on another level. The level of emotional delivery is beyond belief. Also, what a great fucking video.
The ending of this song fucks me up every time.
I was here for this, pretty much right up front and to the right. Truly a beautiful moment I won't soon forget. There were so many tears around me when the lights came up.
One of the best shows ive ever been to, if not THE best

I saw this live in the album tour in Stockholm. Man, I miss the chills I get from live concerts :(
''baby ! Hey !! I'm in too much pain to feel afraid."
(-_+
Hit hard 💔

man, I'm so bummed they didn't come out west! I probably would have cried seeing this live
This is just great...
An amazing footage and a great song.
Shit I should've went to see them that night.
Tell me about it. I had tickets and had to miss the show. :(
Ten kawałek rozwala mnie jest zaj#$%-ty
Is it possible to reupload this video - in order to increase the volume? The volume is too low...
Do you have a video of when they played On a Tuesday?
Why is this audio so quiet? Frustrating. Beautiful footage.
Very nice song and great recording! Please what camera did you use for this recording? Picture is really excellent :)
wixet1 Thanks. Olympus EM5.2
Thanks for info! :)
Picture is great but it is extremely quiet

Meaningfull and deep song, a band like no other
Great video. I'm glad Ragnar was able to help make this album as great as it is, but his voice is so out of place in my opinion.
He's just a bit off in the harmonies here 😥. He kills it in the studio (obviously) and on Meaningless and Full Throttle Tribe in this very performance.
he was too good for this...
Everything sounds good except back vocals.
Wow.. R's eyeshadow is so distracting. Glad he's no longer in the band 😄
I want to like this album, but it feels so underwhelming, especially Daniel's vocal performance. Glad the band is back though
lol your wrong
Nope

Yea, Daniel vocal style is pretty destructive tbh. This kind of decay is just normal. It's a wonder could sustain it for so long tbh
