- The Type R has officially proven itself as the fastest front-wheel-drive car on Japan’s most glamorous and well-known race tracks. And in today’s video, viewers get to enjoy a unique driver’s perspective of the famous F1 circuit. So buckle up for your experience of the Suzuka onboard the new Civic Type R.
The limited edition Type R made the Suzuka record lap time in only 2 minutes and 23.993 seconds. And this Type R Suzuka record makes it the fastest front-wheel-drive car to have ever completed this circuit.
And steering this outstanding Type R Suzuka performance was none other than Super GT Series driver Takuya Izawa. The results of the run certainly fulfilled Honda’s aspiration to win back the Type R’s title of fastest car. And although maybe not quite on the track intended at first, but the Civic has certainly earned itself the title of Type-R Suzuka time attack.

Nice. Two places on track I would have thought staying in 3rd and getting on the gas earlier to spool the turbo would have been better than going to 2nd, but I'm sure this team has every shift planned for the best time.

why is the spedo a few km/h off from the overlayed speed? this is a brand new car in stock spec.
All car speedos over read compared to GPS... To help account for variables like tyre sizes
No infotainment system? what others modifications you made from the stock one?
They set lap times in the special edition type R which comes with no AC or Infotainment as standard. 600 made for the world. Motor and drivetrain should be untouched.
