This is clearly what 90% of guitar players should own instead of buying a dozen pedals at well over $1,000 with no programmability. This is a 70+ pedal board for $350. Brilliant.
except if you want a compressor that isnt CS3 based, more than 3 basic reverbs, signal chain customisability... the list goes on.
@@adamp8765 You're in the 10% that shouldn't own it then, as I said 90% should. Most people, and I really mean MOST don't need all that flexibility nor know what to do with it. This is ample and allows guitarists to focus on their music, not their gear.
I am so gonna get this and sell all my redundant pedals. I don’t jammed anymore due to family commitments. Just entertaining family members when there’s gathering. This is the perfect set up!!
I really hope there will be a bass guitar version of this pedal. It's about time for a worthy successor to the me50b!
Fr
True. But how about just using the ME-90 for Bass? 🤔
Apart from not expanding on the delay/reverb section with stereo/tone options! This release is great! If it can help you get away with leaving Amps at home! and deliver great new sound quality! It’s going to be a winner
so pleased this came out, I've been using my me 80 for the last 5 years and now the 90 is out its a no brainer to upgrade to this. straight in the Pa or into my work horse amp. Boss is my choice.
Finally it came out.
Hi BOSS :)
I've just had a chance to test your latest ME90 unit . . .
It is very assuring to know that as a long time user, a company as big as Roland BOSS take in to consideration customer feedback, as I can see that two of the three suggestions I put forth are present on the new iteration of the ME unit - namely; LED colour change and the Gt.Amp/Line switch . . . . With the modification of a few other aspects that long time users such as myself always look forward to seeing what Engineers at BOSS cook up :)
Side note: 6 months after of posting my original message on the [BOSS TONE CENTRAL] ME-80 played by Kim SeHwang video - and my follow up message, I bought a GT100 off of a friend and started to run the ME80 in the GT100 effects loop - Because I wanted to experiment with effects processors not just the units, and expand my audio horizons . . . . BOSS, your technology inspires pushing the boundaries of what effects can do.
An end of an era
my opinion is a cropped version of the gt-1000, but the effects with effects control are brought to the panel for the convenience of working on stage, the sound is the same, but the possibilities are slightly less than in the gt-1000
Im starring at my me 80 like WHY YOU NO HAVE EFFECTS LOOPS? And um now I need this!
Great job BOSS! Glad to see you updated the ME-80! Simple layout with lots of knobs, for people like me who don't like editing in layers of menus!
XLR outputs on a Bass version is a must. Not 1 but Stereo XLR. 99% of the time a bassist sends a signal to FOH. I use a Digitech GNX 3000. The engineers always love my sound because of the way the chorus in stereo fills things. It makes the whole room move. When a pingpong delay is engaged in stereo.... Yeah you NEED stereo XLR on a Bass version.
Beautiful ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Really good.
YES!!!
Eita! Vai dar o que falar!
i've had the me50b since 2006/7. I really wish you guys would make a me60b or something. bass needs some love too! 😂😅
And since we send a direct signal 99% of the time to FOH. They need stereo XLR outputs. Digitech has been doing it since the 80s. The ONLY reason I avoid Boss units is that shortcoming. It's a shame they made such a great product and left out XLR outputs.
The Boss Me 5 is still the best.
What do you think if you pair HX stomp with this??
I use the helix with clean, crunch and drive snapshots(is limited to three snapshots) And I kinda don’t wanna invest into the big helix because I love the compact HX stomp, but sometimes I need random effects to play with…
Do you think both pared would be good idea?
I’ve had an ME-50 since I was in my early 20s. Now in my mid 40s it might be time to retire the little guy and upgrade to this thing. 😮
Yeah boss!
I have so many BOSS effects including the awesome GP 10 with the GK pickup but the ME 25 was the fave.
Why? BC the looper was much longer and the foot pedal pitch drop is identical to Cliff Burton's For Whom the Bell tolls live bass, running from an ABY switch into the GP 10 also (or whatever) and with the GK can also run the Roland GR 55 if you want to hear unique.
In short, I want this new ME occupying the 3 out of my tripler pedal 🤘
Can it program scales into the harmoniser , such as exotic scales like the harmonic minor , melodic minor or harmonic major ? I use the Boss GT-8 and it can do this from 2005 and having a selection of scales to choose from pre installed ones would be awesome as programming them in every key is a lengthy process . Also having a feature linked to a tuner to set the rate of a modulation / delay would also be awesome , as if playing a sound in key of A , setting the modulation tuned to say 44.0 Hz sounds very sweet , with the delay auto setting to 440 ms , other notes might change the setting to match its pitch / key .
Needs more IR Slots!
Can I use a "TRS to XLR" cable to go FOH or would I need a DI box to have a balanced line out.
When will Boss realize that all we need is a updated Gt1, with IR loader, send/return and MIDI in/out.
When I say we, I mean people that need something compact, simple and lower priced than the GT 1000 core.
I wondered if the amp simulation was able to be bypassed on this one?
How about separate effects loop in out for delay and modulation?
Hi great fx board,? Can you connect ME 90 to a iPad Pro with the usb c to record in a DAW iOS app like GarageBand or logic for iPad?
I can't believe they didn't put in a drum section, like in the RC-5. Guess I will hold out for a ME-100 with drums and and SY-1 built in.
Hi Boss.
Why 90, not the 100, as in line with nrs the other series? Just curious.
Missing extending to a full 3 knob Reverb pedal, a seperate Loop group besides the Delay group, no option to combine Dual drive options and skipping the aux in are massive missing options imo. 😢.
Seems the Pre amp and the Drive sections are improved and the Metal options are now up 2 speed. Detune is a nice idea as well as the improved bigger pedal. Colour indicators also a good idea.❤
Would love to play and hear one in stores. Where is that in the Netherlands?
But, missing on the options, Im back off to my own pedalboard. While I was a hooked ME80 user and looked forward to the ME100. Suggestions free of charge ... 😊
Is rare to see Boss reply this comments. But worth a try. Kind felt much more like a step back for this one. Don't know...maybe i'm wrong. I'll loved to see a small unit for gx100 too ? Like gt Core...
I have two questions... Where can you buy IR? And the factory presets already have IRs preloaded?
List of all the amp models? Including ones you gotta use the editor for?
I hope those knobs (pots) would be better than the previous MEs.... I've owned ME 70 and after some year, the gain knob turned down by itself every time i use it😅😅 and other problems like some pots are so sensitive that even i barely touch it, its value will increase or decrease to a certain amount
If it had a longer looper length it would be perfect!
And drums, like in the rc-5
I don't understand why its power supply is listed as optional. Do you have to buy it separately?
Yes you do , Andertons are bundled one for free £309 all in
Will there be a bass version too?
Oho🎉🎉🎉
When does it go on sale in Mexico?
Are you going to produce a successor to the GR-55?
Can the switches be momentary or just latch?
I've heard that the maximum delay on this is 800ms, a big drop from the ME-80. Why is that the case?
what's the name of this female guitarist?
Does this processor have Turbo overdrive?
Can you change the order of effects? I.e., put modulation before the drive pedal or the preamp model?
I downloaded the app, and the order doesn’t seem to be editable. If you want to change the order, I guess GX100 or GT1000 are more suitable for you. I own ME80 and GX100, and I usually bring my ME80 to jam sessions for its easy setup, and use GX100 or my pedal board for home practice and gigs.
Yes, but there are limitations. . It will automatically move the Univibe to front of the signal chain which is cool. You still cannot put the reverb in front to get that nasty 'verb sound.
This is an awesome unit. I have several multi pedals and the only thing that keeps me away from BOSS is the lack of XLR output. I don't understand why you made such an awesome units but fell short on the output?
Being primarily a bassist. I hope there is a bass version of this and since most bass players run direct I hope there are XLR out on the bass version. Along with quarter inch outputs. Digitech does it.. jab jab 😜😉
Probably an adapter for that.
@@jessearchinal-scott8306 yes we all love having to carry extra stuff around to break, forget, signal degredstion ... Literally EVERY other company has at least one. Digitech has been doing it since the 80s
Plus a balanced XLR signal is much better than unbalanced when doing a long cable run. Or sending to a recorder
Is the solo effect under the comp/fx 1 essentially a volume boost?
No. It's a Boost. If you're playing dirty and hit it with the Solo, it just gets chunkier not necessary louder. You can do a Solo volume boost with the actual EQ or within the EQ section, there's a Boost.
Why not classic switch buttons like GX ot GT line ?
someday Boss will launch a product slightly bigger and better than the Zoom MS70CDR and slightly smaller and compact than the TC Plethora. That day I will be a happy man :)
GT-1000Core?
@@JeffHendricks yes well i do own the core - but its still overkill in terms of amp & cab sims, drive pedal emulations. I would rather have a strong sfx+mod+dly+rvb pedal (that combines the power of all the 500 series + the SY) that can go right in between our own analog drives and maybe into an analog amp/cab sim like the Simplifier or Tech 21 Blonde (my most fav amp sim pedal of all time) - wonder why Boss is not thinking on those lines.
@@bandbaaja dont understand. That s pretty much precisely what the ME90 allows you to do with it s effect loop?
And the OUT into the IR, foregoing the ME IR. Or load the IR you want into the ME.
@@MrRFasters yes as Jeff says a GT Core too is the same (and more powerful)
I was talking about a specific product that is without drives amps and cabs - and ONLY takes care of the mods, delays, reverbs, sfx and can sit nicely between your favourite drive pedals and your amp.
The Zoom MS70CDR is exactly that BUT is a single pedal and its quite a pain to toggle thru 4/5 favourite patches with one button. With Boss being the master of mods dlys rvbs - there is not one product out with just those fx and that can kick zoom’s ass :)
(though now there is a hack to add drives and amps into the MS70CDR as well 🤷♂️which makes it into a better MS50G with stereo ins and outs… am not talking of that part)
@@bandbaaja what about the old Line6 M5 and M12 series?
Or: build a simple pedalboard yourself doin th trick?
Cool this update on the ME line, now missing a Boss GX-1!!!
#BossIsBoss
Who is she?
BOSS4L! Please show my GK-3/GI-20 setup some love. They've been abandoned as ancient relics?!
I wish it came without the built in expression pedal, but nice amount of tactile control otherwise.
do someone a vidiou how to install the driver please
Solo 3 irs impulsos de respuesta ? que tacañería.
It really bugs me when companies make multi-effects and label everything left to right, when signal chains for pedal effects have always gone right to left.
My chain goes left to right with outputs going to a 4 buss control mixer
Legit point dude!
Edit less, Play more.
interesting, I'm entirely agnostic to this
Your right but changing the reading orientation would be worse to many.
Esperava mais da BOSS.
carinha no BR, será q valerá?
I am guessing it would replace an entire pedal board.... ?
It has the potential to, if you're looking for total simplification. It also plays nice with pedals using the FX Loop. One of the most requested feature upgrades from the ME-80
@@BOSSinfoglobalYes, because my ME-8 has one
@@BOSSinfoglobalYes, because my Me-8 has one..
Get Johnny Demarco to demo it!
このままのスピードでMEのナンバリングが100まで届いたらGT計画はどこまでいけるんだろう
ME and GT different formats and lines in their own right. I love the ME line (70 and 80 owner) and use these live most: pedal boards are much more complex and less reliable on live on stage chaos situations where small flocal festival bands need to change their gear very swiftly. Cables keep getting wrecked all the time.😢
So GT and ME forever!
I have been using my ME-80 for last 9 years. Love it and now this? I will get this too! GT models sucks by the way!
If you hate the GT line and love your ME-80, don't get the ME-90. I regret it and miss my ME-80. You really have to work at getting good sounds. Having menus might actually make it easier. As a plug and play experience, the ME-80 is so much easier to get great sounds right away. Yes, there are some attractive features, but it's not worth the money because those features aren't that good. The main thing I liked on my ME-80 was the modulation. These modulations are barely any better and not with the money. I'm returning it and hopefully finding a deal on a used ME-80 or just getting an MD-200 or Space Echo.
Noise gate?
Is she a actual artist? Who is she?
Ghost knobs?
Honestly great but needs an external expression pedal support so I can throw it on my desk to tweak patches and have an expression pedal on the floor.
BOSS ME 90 or BOSS iR 2 only in terms of amplifiers and cabinet
Please add Stereo panning, stereo delay and/or ping pong delay... 😖😖😖 I loved the Me-80 but sold it because of that missing feature
Who Is the guitarist?
😢why dont have xlr and 32bit
I hope the ME 90 will not suffer the same defect as ME 70 and 80 where presets on the display keep on changing. It prevents you from identifying the preset your are in and not allowing you to edit and save. This is a real deal breaker for Boss ME and GT series.
that is an awesome guitar solo! who is this?
never mind saw it in the description
@@hijodesieteleches thank you glad you enjoyed it!
@@phildyerguitar that’s a badass handle bro! 😂
I’m will not be buying the ME-90 multi effects unit from Boss
…unless they incorporates a coffee percolator and an oven to grill cheese on toast, into the unit
I have standards that I live by.
I think it is a big mistake not crediting the performer...a male guitarist would have been named. I'm sure BOSS marketing will say its not intended, but it rings of sexism...
Hi, we're both credited in the description. Thanks
チューナー432hz出来るように、、バージョンアップしたら 即買います。。。ゼッタイです。
not bad, BOSS, but I already bought a ZOOM ;)
Still waiting for an answer: Who is she? Is she actually playing? Nice demo, but needs explanation, please.
Hi Bruce, I wrote, recorded and mixed the track Arianna performed it on the day
@@phildyerguitar Thanks. Well done! (Sorry. I guess I could have read the notes below the video.)
Is she included?
Parece una burla que anuncien tal producto y no tengan existencia para venderlo 😢😢
Not impressed! The girl went thru no sonic realm! Typical for Boss commercials, yawn! How come Boss cant create a classic sound every time you come out with a new product. I have a Boss GT-1, many boss pedals, and Roland GR-55 and Nothing stands out. Its just so much work to get a decent tone out of a boss product. I have a Boss EQ-200 that quickly brings a tone into a useable sound but then it does create other issues. Boss pedals are worthless without a good-sounding amp. Only with the EQ200 was I able to get a good sonic tone straight into my Roland Street CUBE EX with boss pedals. I was watching artists getting great sounds out of the mesa/boogie mark v 90-watt tube head that were clear, not muddled, or sonically scratchy! Why can't Boss create the same thing?
it looks barely different from my old me-70 from 15 years ago..
Beauty is ONLY skin deep my friend. It's her brains that makes all the difference.
@@dunbarcustomsound im not talking about the looks.. i am talking about all the effects and stuff. i'm sure the me-90 has improved, because if not that would be really sad. but.. how much did it improve ? im honest i cant tell right now, but the customer could think twice at least.
@@KaptnJolly Well, as an owner of the GT-1000 I can testify that the AIRD audio engine is a MASSIVE upgrade over COSM in my hearing. IIRC AIRD is the audio engine driving this ME. Even if the the buttons don't change, the layout is the same and the effects on offer are similar, the sonic fidelity AND the ability to control the unit through BT/MIDI( and etc is a significant upgrade in my view.
I hope it sounds better in reality than in this video. Come on Boss, you can do better than this.
Hi, i wrote the track. Please tell me what you'd do better so i can do this next time. You have no videos up so i cant use your account for reference, thanks.
@@phildyerguitar it’s not the track or the playing, I just don’t think that the unit is shown off particularly well.
Nothing new, just a different package so save your money!
Back again BOSS, So dare you to prove you can get this song by Red Breath live into me guitar tone ruclips.net/video/yH-k_6tU9Wc/видео.html on your 90! Hell I dare you to get this sound on any of your products but I know you cant because boss sounds are muddled and not clear on heavy guitar sounds. Also, the sonic muted harmonics he does in this song you cant do! Take the challenge dare ya!
I miss NORMAL MIDI, NOT INTERESTING!
How do they get away for a releasing a unit that can load only 3 IRs IN 2023 FFS??? A $150 modeller can load a hell lot more than that.
Could be because this is the budget end of the Multi-fx line from Boss. The GT series would load more, but it is more than double the price.
@@35milesoflead the GT can only load 16. Even if it’s the budget line, seriously only 3?
The whole idea of the ME series is knobs and simplicity. People went for the ME-80 over the GT-100 because they wanted something visual and easy to adjust. Adding dozens of IR's to it takes that away, and you can always run a Two Notes or other IR box outside if you really need them.
@allanb1402 I own an ME-80 and have done for a decade. The reason I got it was price. I always use it in stomp mode and not program mode. And you are exactly right about why I own one - the knobs and dials. I need a tactile interaction with my pedals, not menu diving like other Boss/Roland equipment.
Boss, please stop with the shredders. Put 20 shredders in a room and no one can tell them apart, they all sound the same, a flurry of notes. Get players who will make your pedals sound good, not people who are just going to play fast. That's no longer impressive. This isn't the 90s anymore.
troco a minha 80 por ela !!!
Useless.
Waste of money. Its running display and auto change proble afyer somedays.
I sold my ME-80 for the big "upgrade". What a disappointment! The ME-90 feels as cheap as it looks. The interface is actually deceptively difficult compared to the ME-80. The 4CM functionality was my biggest draw. The way it automatically routes the Univibe to the front end but puts the chorus in the loop in the is actually quite impressive. I won't knock that. The drives and preamps were better on the ME-80. I spent time with the manual, meticulously working through settings. It was a huge hassle. These are supposed to be EASY! I regret selling off the ME-80. It was so much easier to get great usable tones. The GX-100 is probably easier to use than the ME-90 when you realize how much menu work you actually need to do. The GX-100's interface is designed for it, and the ME-90 is not. Me? I don't want to be bothered by any of that. If you want a more powerful device, go for the GX-100 (even GT-100). If you want plug and play ease of use, get an ME-80. The ME-90 doesn't have a place in the lineup.
