Hey all, hope you enjoy this one! I made this video for two reasons. The first, the topic truly does fascinate me. When I found out such big series/games were led by people with no modern presence at all, I was surprised. The second, this video is kind of an homage/spoof of some of my favorite true crime and mystery RUclipsrs. This should go without saying, but please don't go trying to find these guys. If anybody has been anonymous for the past two decades, it's because they want their privacy. Gotta respect that. Thanks again.
This was good stuff, but I was really expecting some of the early Konami guys. I remember a GAF thread from over a decade ago that talked about one of them who REALLY vanished. Like, family looking for him, talking to the media about it, police stumped. The general consensus (on the internet, decades after the fact, in a different language) seemed to be that Konami has some amount of underworld connection and those game devs, perhaps unknowingly, tried to quit the family. I've always been curious how much truth there was to that. Konami being a yakuza operation certainly does make a lot of their business decisions make more sense.
Excellent work, I know how much of a pain it can be as a Westerner to try and research people from Japan. From what I've learned about their culture personally, it probably is just as simple as they live a quiet life outside of the spotlight. Their culture is very modest and humble and they typically don't spotlight themselves for their achievements no matter how grand they may be. Except for that first guy that worked on Ys. The fact that he can't be contacted and more than one person has said that tells me there's probably something else going on there.
Come on man, Ar Tonelico isn't that hard to pronounce! I was thinking of playing some of the Ys games because I have enjoyed playing Trails in the Sky FC and SC. (These were made by Falcom) Very bizarre story. Perhaps Miyazaki was seeking a simpler life, and just wanted to get away from it all. Definitely the weirdest story of all three. I have heard that in Japan missing persons databases aren't really a thing. I have no idea where these guys went, but you made a cool vid.

Excellent work as always
That’s definitely interesting! Where are they? I don’t want to get into all the theories I’ve got now

Yeah it’s hard when research is crossing literal barriers lol. And yes!! It’s a strange story. Dude made one of the most legendary series and *poof*
