    This couldn't have come at a better time; I've recently started a body recomp and I'm worried I will have body dysmorphia issues as I had them when I was younger, I've never tried working on my relationship with my body / viewing it more positively. This is going to help so much. Thank you thank you thank you.

    The end had my crying :( I've been in ED recovery for a year now and I feel soo much better, I actually now find that my body "suits" me better, in a way, bc it looks excentric, small and funny (just like I am haha) : that's a good way to kill your ego as well, seeing your body as living and weird and funny, instead of such a serious thing. Anyways thank you for ur words ! And you do look so hot and so cool

    wearing looser clothing is interesting because i feel like the worse i feel about my body, the looser clothes i wear because i don't want to be seen. so for me, becoming more comfortable with my body includes getting comfortable wearing clothes that are more fitted and allow people to see what my body looks like (to a degree)

      I can definitely relate, like at the start of the school year I would always wear baggy sweaters and sweatpants because I was pretty insecure about myself, but then during the middle of the school year I got more confident and started wearing tank-tops. After my grandma died however, my confidence and happiness plummeted and I started wearing hoodies more. Recently tho, I do love myself more but I’m not fully happy with my body, I still feel just a bit uncomfortable.
      Sry this was long lol

    vibing with you while you sang! as a final note today, your podcast and attitude has helped me not obsess so much about the negative and intrusive thoughts. i used to really obsess and fall into negative self-talk all the time. and now, it has literally cut in half. i just feel like you're my support team, life coach lol. but seriously.

  • @AdamFishkin
    @AdamFishkin 6 месяцев назад

    This is what we're getting and that's fine. :)
    An unhealthy relationship with the mirror is what you've described and more. When the self-hatred gets even a second of breath, it spirals. Every time.
    I've gotten better. I eat whatever the fuck I want. I wear whatever brings comfort. I keep the most toxic platforms severed from my internet routine. Most of all I avoid mirror checks.
    Choosing who you socialize with in life makes a difference too. The current problem I face is that in many social circles, there are certain people who don't let the others choose. They gatekeep, they slander and they divide ... how people feel about themselves becomes irrelevant in their eyes and when they wield authority, everyone suffers. If you disengage, you're painted as scum and they harness social media to do it. And they are relentless in monopolizing conversation time so no one can adequately counter them with a positive message. You can of course move to a different town to make new friends, but that costs money.
    Words mean things, when we say them to other people and when we say them to ourselves. I just wish more people could see that.

    this episode is beautiful and so raw. i struggled with body image and do at times because my waistline is different on my right side than my left side. i had scoliosis, so my back straightened out, but that difference in my curves has made me insecure at times. also, my bottom, my goodness. i stopped exercising because i've been so busy studying and my butt is so flat and is something i frown upon now lmao (basically nonexistent), back when i was an athlete, it had a little voom to it lol. but anyways, that was awkward but yeah, love ya Keara. hope you're healing well!

    Whenever my friends trauma dump with each other or I watch these types of videos, I realize how much us girls have all lived the same lives 😭 it’s sad but comforting and validating to know that we are not alone in our trauma. This is also why it’s important to talk about these things !! I was raised to be a people pleaser and value appearances/fitting in especially coming from an immigrant family. I developed an ED by age 12. I was extremely anorexic and then a few years passed and being curvy was in. I wish I could go back and give myself a hug lol

    Hey Keara. I just wanted to say thank you for all your videos. Yes they are lighthearted and fun but I really learn a lot from you. I’m still closeted but your videos help me. Once my grade went on a 2 night excursion and my best friend and I were sharing a bed. Btw I go to an all girls school. She touched me in ways I didn’t want her to touch me and she kissed me. I didn’t like it. I thought about you and everything you said to tell someone your sexual preferences and I told her I didn’t want that. I still see her a a friend . I always have. I didn’t tell any of my family because they’re homophobic and she would never accept that I like girls. I have told some of my close friends and since then they’ve always been there or me in all the uncomfortable situations I’ve been in. All you tell us about also helps me. Thank you so much. I’ll always cherish you. ❤

    Yesss plss do a video on your gender journey, please and also how your relationship is with your gender as someone who loves women and nonbinary people!!? Because I'm also non-binary and I also love women and non-binary people, but sometimes I get confused if I consider myself or even a lesbian. But yeah, sometimes it's crazy for me to see masc androgynous lesbian women know that their women and not non-binary. Get me? Like how do some masc ppl & androgynous women feel good about identifying as a women and how do they know they are not non-binary. I'm asking this because like I want to experience a sapphic lesbian relationship but I also don't think I'm a woman like I don't feel like a woman or man. I'm wondering how other people who are masc still feel comfortable and good and comfortable identifying as a woman, but it feels so wrong to me or weird and uncomfty you know? Even though sometimes in my expression, I am feminine, I guess. Yeah like really curious on how some people still feel like women idek how to explain its anymore lol. But please give advice.

When approaching females you are interested in what are you supposed to say? Give me some good lines. The last time I was in a relationship was over 10 years ago.
