I got rid of my one eye tooth that had a root canal and a cap 30 yrs ago,, I felt so much better immediately as dentist pulled it out. He continued to pull all the rest too. I am so glad all the bad teeth are gone. Going to get a second dentist to do a inspection and evaluation of first dentist. I might have second dentist do any tooth fragment removel and take down any high spots that will get in way of dentures & make dentures for me..😊😊 Plus I am practicing water fasting that takes away a fatty tongue which causes different folks to need a sea-pap breathing device. Yes I noticed the differences too. Not sure what to say except pray then listen. My teeth have been white and no dark tartar, UNTIL my dentist gave me chlorihexadine. Not sure why he gave it to me, maybe because they don’t know about the mouthwashes I was already using and 2 of my teeth broke off so maybe he thought that would keep infection away. This is the second time recently that I've heard about the microbiome in the mouth. I'm guilty of eating too much sugar and when I do I notice that my mouth feels yucky. Even when I eat bread I notice my gums feel irritated. I've been cutting back almost completely. It almost feels like as soon as I eat sugar or carbs I feel it in my whole body right away. It's hard to explain. This video has now terrified me about my teeth. I have sensitivity. I have brushed too hard. I want to keep my teeth!
Yes I also have that feeling about immediate sensation responding to the sugar and carbs crap, so I've been looking for a competent dentist in my area such as a bio dentist, is that what it's called???
What does your dentist say about your gums.... If pink 🩷 Not inflamed, swollen or pull'n away from your teeth... You sound good.... Just get a good water pic to Not be hard on them but flush out debris and bacteria daily to keep gums healthy so they can hold on to your teeth... Far better than mouth wash or often flossing.... Gums are the secret seldom exp'd, Sugar isn't as tough if you're pay'n close attention to your gums.... If you make more plax than usual get em cleaned every 2-4mons... Found that out the hard way.... It's the build that creates the issues.... If Keto can show it deters that it would be huge for plax builders and those that frankly can't always afford dental ins.... That's what we really need access to to Help people be healthier!
Your mouth is not separate from your body. Dentists only know about the mouth. If you want to keep your teeth, remove sugar and gluten, take d3+k2, ReMag (magnesium), ReMyte (minerals), Nordic Naturals fish oil, eat sauerkraut, natto, miso, kimchi etc. Also eat pasture-raised eggs, grass-fed meat, avocadoes, cruciferous vegetables, broccoli sprouts, bone broth, hemp seeds, chia seeds, colostrum, spirulina, kelp or seaweed etc. Your gut is EVERYTHING. But you need to make sure you have high stomach acid to be able to absorb the nutrients. We are what we absorb. Digestive enzymes before meals will also help with nutrient absorption. Good luck.
Thank you for so much information to help us with being advocates for our own mouth health. For the last 25 years, I’ve done everything that Dentist has said to do, probably except for using an electric toothbrush on a regular basis. For some reason I couldn’t get with that program. I’ve had so much tarter over the years that all of my dentists have convinced me to go for cleaning every three months. I have been meticulous with that because I don’t want to lose my teeth. I’ve had gum disease this whole time with no results or very little. Onseeing your video you both of have givin me ideas how to improve my mouth health. I’ve had burning tongue since 2007, and gone to multiple specialists and no one can help me. I think this oral health test can you give me some answers. Thanks to you both.
Hey Dhru, a holistic dentist from Texas say gargle with hydrogen peroxide and baking soda, that will minimize bacteria that causes heart attack and brain stroke. Cut sugar from diet, very simple
I've used only baking soda and hydrogen peroxide for years and I just had a stroke a week ago from hemorrhage two cracked teeth and thrush from antibiotics I believe
There’s a FANTASTIC dentist in NYC! Keith Marshall, Gramercy Park. I used him for years. Sadly I live in Ireland 🇮🇪 and have not found a good replacement yet 😢
Plastic in my mouth, every night, all night. I’m so concerned about my plastic mouthguard. I cannot sleep without a mouthguard but I’m ingesting plastic all night long, every night. Are there other options?
Message for Dhru : This podcast is great, however, it would be so helpful to have time stamps (as the Huberman lab and Peter Attia do) as it is long and difficult to listen to in one sitting.
I haven't been to the dentist since he kept pushing root canals for problems that I didn't feel. Its been a few years. The price was astronomical and I lost trust. Dentists and car mechanics stress me out. This has been very informative and since alzheimers runs in my family I will definitely take more care of my oral health.
Also, I'm running low carb about 20 to 75 carbs (mostly sweet potato and veggies) a day with good quality protein foods and my performance and muscle gain are great and feel fantastic, blood markers are spot on. People that don't want to give up carbs are addicted, to mostly prossessed carbs! Again dud stop talking so much ! Let your guest speak you constantly talked over him, Very annoying and rude.
I'm right handed and my tooth recession is on the right side. I always wondered about gum message. My gums are not red at the tooth margin. You would think gums get quite a workout just by the act of chewing, especially things like apples or nuts. I mouth tape at night, but I've found my heart rate goes up when I use tape. I wear a watch that tells me how I'm sleeping.
Big fan of Dhru P. here. Also of Dr B. So many great takeaways. I’ll definitely start introducing Bristle to my dental patients. The root canal dilemma has been underrated for way too long. I do my best to avoid doing them if possible but if a patient’s tooth requires it and is a good candidate (no fractures etc.) I will do it with a Lightwalker Laser. It’s called PIPS ending. This bubbles out much more of the pulp tissues. I won’t refer to a specialist unless they use this technique.
Guest is good. If you loo at him on his own channel you now his thought process benefits from dialogue. and i love listening to Dhru.He is leading and structuring the conversation and guiding it. That is what his channel is offering and I lie hearing him talk.
Dr Ellie Phillips asserts flossing damages the gums and is not necessary with her proper dental hygiene program….this involves several mouthwashes, closys to normalize acidity, a fluoride toothpaste and special brush to use for teeth and also gum massage, listerine, and ACT a no alcohol fluoride rinse, plus liberal use of xylitol after meals, snacks, or drinks. Many people assert a drop in plaque, tooth sensitivity, no cavities, and regrowth the of receding gums in time, using this system. So this differs quite a bit from your flossing recommendations, and ‘no fluoride’ stance. Some of the mouthwash has other chemicals in it that I worry about. Why are these recommendations so divergent??? Very hard to reconcile.
I used her method years ago and my oral health seemed to have improved although I hadn't been to a dentist to see what he thought during that time. I quit doing it for some reason...can't remember why other than maybe just so many products to keep up with. My mouth is a mess now because I grind and nash my teeth in my sleep and have chipped or even fractured some through the root. Dental work is outrageously expensive and insurance covers almost nothing. If oral health is so important it seems that a lot more would be covered in order to avoid other major health problems down the road.
Omg Dhru, who is an expert in this discussion - you or the Dr? Could you please let the expert speak next time and interject with good questions. Thank you😊
My dentist recommends rinsing on periodide-what are you thoughts? I also started taking `120 mg of COQ 10 for bleeding gums in my 40 after gum surgery. NO MORE GUM BLEEDING for me!
Forward head carriage is typical in Parkinson's patients. It causes the tremors The brain stem is comprised so corrective chiropractic realigns the spine and takes the pressure off the brain stem.
In 1981 I had extremely bad gingivitis and my gums were operated on. I ended up having 4 gum transplants. Since then I have looked after my gums really well. I learned about effect of mouthwash on the oral microbiom about three months ago and no longer use tooth paste or mouthwash. At 76 I'm a biohacker and look after my gums by spending many minutes a day cleaning my mouth with electric brushes of different kinds, tongue scraping and usingvsoft picks instead of flissing.
@les9058 it took a few years . They took the graft from the roof of my mouth and placed on my gum. It is hurts on both sides, the mouth roof and the gum. After a quadrant healed they did the next.
My mother had all of her teeth removed and replaced with false teeth when she was in her late 20s. She's now 92 and only just beginning to show signs of memory loss.
My mom had perfect beautiful teeth and her dentist removed them at 40 years old because he said she had gum disease. She died in her 70s from kidney failure of type 2 diabetes. The doctors gave her insulin and didn’t talk about diet at all . 🤬😭.
I had a neighbor who had a lot if not all her teeth removed and had dentures. She had some teeth problems but shame on the dentist for doing it. This was before she was even 20!
Still affected by removing her teeth, they affect the brain, eating all kinds of sugar including starches main reason for Alzheimer's. A change in diet can reverse it. Look it up here on RUclips"Reversing Alzheimer's Naturally" The teeth affects all major organs Brain is one, teeth are part of the head right, and removing them makes much of those problems.
I read elsewhere that it had been a dental fad back around the 50s give or take to pull all the teeth in some 20 year olds particularly rural barely high school diploma people! As a cure for dental problems!
So here are a couple of important questions. Number one, should you brush or do anything to clean your teeth right after you have eaten? Number two how long should you wait between eating and having a snack if you feel you need to have a snack? And number three is drinking water throughout the day bad for the saliva?
So whats the good Doc saying? We shouldn't use toothpaste? What about smelly breath? I use hemp toothpaste and it has really helped the balance of bacteria in my mouth. I'll try the tongue scraping and flossing. Not sure i want to give up on my hemp toothpaste though- hahahaha!. I never use mouthwash, its terrible for the gut microbiome.
Reflux & drooling happens during deep SLEEP that seems to harm our beautiful essential function of our TEETH. 😢😢❤❤❤❤❤❤ How can we prevent or restore our teeth & brain functions??????
Thank you for this video. I have dental implant bridges Food constantly gets caught I’m very nervous about getting dementia. Wondering if there are studies on implant bridges. I have to use tools to get food out from under my bridge. That and water flosser
Should someone who got regular dental amalgams decades ago have them changed for the the new neutral variety? And if so, is there more danger in releasing toxic metals by removing them or is it better to leave them?
If mouthwash is so bad for us, please explain why drinking alcohol is not just as bad - and if so, why are we never advised that drinking alcohol is bad for our oral health? I have asked this on other forums with dental professionals, but have never gotten a reply and would love to hear your thoughts.
I think we have been told alcohol is bad. I have never heard anything positive about alcohol. Even that one drink a day for heart health has been changed and the recommendation is zero alcohol. Alcohol can cause an increase risk of mouth and throat cancers just like tobacco.
@@moewilson4605 Yes, understood. But every time I hear a dental professional talk smack about mouthwash, they never mention consequences from alcohol. You would think that a ton more people drink alcohol than rinse with mouthwash and if they are equally bad, then why not say so?
This is the first time I’ve heard most of this information, when we gon to the dentist they don’t go over any of this this makes me angry, it’s always after the fact
You can also consider using a cotton bandana cloth that's been modified with an elastic band to hold your mouth closed. Just turn it under the chin and over the top of your head. Those can be used for many purposes. Including as a porous face mask. Keeps bugs off my face, can cover my nose if I'm riding a scooter or fast bike, mowing. Can block the sun off my face.

Salt water gargling, gymnema sylvestra powder
I wish they had discussed oil pulling. Otherwise, useful information.
Me too
Me three!
Me 4
Agree!!!
Hey Dhru, a holistic dentist from Texas say gargle with hydrogen peroxide and baking soda, that will minimize bacteria that causes heart attack and brain stroke. Cut sugar from diet, very simple
Not only sugar, but all refined carbohydrates that turn to sugar straight away in the body.
Also dmso at half strength!
what is dmso?
Salt water gargling, gymnema sylvestra powder
I've used only baking soda and hydrogen peroxide for years and I just had a stroke a week ago from hemorrhage two cracked teeth and thrush from antibiotics I believe
There’s a FANTASTIC dentist in NYC! Keith Marshall, Gramercy Park. I used him for years. Sadly I live in Ireland 🇮🇪 and have not found a good replacement yet 😢
What about water flossing?
Amazing video, thank you!!
wow, this was more helpful than i thought. thank you guys
Excellent topic!!! Thank you for bringing this to us!
Plastic in my mouth, every night, all night. I’m so concerned about my plastic mouthguard. I cannot sleep without a mouthguard but I’m ingesting plastic all night long, every night. Are there other options?
What about the use of the water pick, how beneficial is that
VERY, No chemicals or abrasion on the enamel...
Please let your Guest speak 😅. You interrupt way too much. On a separate note, great content!
Shutty
Message for Dhru : This podcast is great, however, it would be so helpful to have time stamps (as the Huberman lab and Peter Attia do) as it is long and difficult to listen to in one sitting.
How about a transcript.... Great for details and notes!
Fascinating and informative. Making a big effort with my diet and dental hygiene to hopefully not go the path of both parents.
Settle down host. Stop talking over the guest. Stop interrupting . Please!!!
Dru why don't you let your guest talk ?
2 hrs is too long . good info. just need to condense it .
What a great Podcast. ! Waooo!!! Thanks so much.
Why tape, are you a mouth breather?
This is a host who cares about his audience and holds his guests accountable to the truth. Thank you Dhru!
I won’t refer to a specialist unless they use this technique.

.
Great info. I really like, and see, the great value in your questions. It's all good.😊
56:16 we grew up using salt rinse
Heal'n to the gums and throat a good gargle for sore throats! Especially sea salt!
Thank you😊
Hush...would subscribe but not sure I want to hear host interrupt soo much
My dentist recommends rinsing on periodide-what are you thoughts? I also started taking `120 mg of COQ 10 for bleeding gums in my 40 after gum surgery. NO MORE GUM BLEEDING for me!
I don’t understand. Why no mention of xylitol?
What is it???
Forward head carriage is typical in Parkinson's patients. It causes the tremors The brain stem is comprised so corrective chiropractic realigns the spine and takes the pressure off the brain stem.
Thank you! Do u have any references?
In 1981 I had extremely bad gingivitis and my gums were operated on. I ended up having 4 gum transplants.
Since then I have looked after my gums really well. I learned about effect of mouthwash on the oral microbiom about three months ago and no longer use tooth paste or mouthwash. At 76 I'm a biohacker and look after my gums by spending many minutes a day cleaning my mouth with electric brushes of different kinds, tongue scraping and usingvsoft picks instead of flissing.
sounds great! I am over 50 and been meaning to get the sonic water pik thing/machine. Have u considered it? It seems like the best tool
Look up Dr Ellie Phillips too.
Where did they do the gum transplants on you were they small so they took and what type?
@les9058 it took a few years . They took the graft from the roof of my mouth and placed on my gum. It is hurts on both sides, the mouth roof and the gum.
After a quadrant healed they did the next.
Thank you.
I listen to a ton of health podcasts. Never heard any other host hog time as Dru. Rude and irritating, won't be back
My mother had all of her teeth removed and replaced with false teeth when she was in her late 20s.
My mom's 89 and has had dentures for well over 50 years. She has little brain glitches here and there, but is very intellectually healthy.
Look it up here on RUclips"Reversing Alzheimer's Naturally"
The teeth affects all major organs Brain is one, teeth are part of the head right, and removing them makes much of those problems.
I read elsewhere that it had been a dental fad back around the 50s give or take to pull all the teeth in some 20 year olds particularly rural barely high school diploma people! As a cure for dental problems!
Why do you have guest when you talk instead of them
So here are a couple of important questions. Number one, should you brush or do anything to clean your teeth right after you have eaten? Number two how long should you wait between eating and having a snack if you feel you need to have a snack? And number three is drinking water throughout the day bad for the saliva?
Hopefully he does a follow up and asks these questions and others I’ve seen that are very good that we’re not asked.
Am using tongue scraper . T’s really good for oral health.
Continued blessings on your channel. 🙂🙏
You should not have bad breath if you’re healthy. 😎
There's a dentist from the Detroit area on YT who also says toothpaste isn't necessary. That's so weird to me.
Heard somewhere it’s a parasite thing. Bad breath.
Regular toothpaste No! For the fluoride and other stuff that's Not good!
Bake'n sofa is centeries old natural... Add 3% periode and bacteria is gone!
Reflux & drooling happens during deep SLEEP that seems to harm our beautiful essential function of our TEETH. 😢😢❤❤❤❤❤❤ How can we prevent or restore our teeth & brain functions??????
Wonderful, helpful interview.
Incredible dialogue between host and guest!
Thank you for this video. I have dental implant bridges Food constantly gets caught I’m very nervous about getting dementia. Wondering if there are studies on implant bridges. I have to use tools to get food out from under my bridge. That and water flosser
If you don’t eat processed foods or starchy carbs fruit you shouldn’t have to worry about it.
Are you sure the bridges are fitted well, shouldn't be get'n food from my understanding of how they're attached.... You may need an adjustment!
What about the plastic in Denture and partials😮
Major Good Q!!!!
Should someone who got regular dental amalgams decades ago have them changed for the the new neutral variety? And if so, is there more danger in releasing toxic metals by removing them or is it better to leave them?
There are places who supposedly can do this safely..Biologic dentistry.
Chlorella is very effective at pulling heavy metals out of the body.
I had mine removed by a holistic dentist. Look for the smart program
EXCELLENT Q.... How do you know!
Amazing podcast - thank you for this invaluable information!!!
If mouthwash is so bad for us, please explain why drinking alcohol is not just as bad - and if so, why are we never advised that drinking alcohol is bad for our oral health? I have asked this on other forums with dental professionals, but have never gotten a reply and would love to hear your thoughts.
Great question! I’ve asked the same thing
I asked if it was the alcohol in the mouthwash . 🥂
They never mention sniffing glue either.
So i heard that you can have a procedure to fix gum recession???? Why leave us feeling doomed 😢😮
Fascinating discussion. Thank you.
What about the Denture / partial warer! Are we screwed 😮
Dunno, good to have the guy back on those specific issues!
I know of a woman in west Africa. She is 120 years of age (certified) with perfect teeth all her life.
Excellent!
Thank you!!!
This is the first time I’ve heard most of this information, when we gon to the dentist they don’t go over any of this this makes me angry, it’s always after the fact
Thank you both❤❤. So well done!
Dhru any white tailors thread is a flossing material cheap and effective
Bad breath, you can smell: floss some area and smell your floss!
Tired of hearing all of Dru's personal stories & interruptions. I'm going to search this doctor elsewhere
Me too!!!! Poor guest was not allowed to speak.
You should have had the interview without the Dr...you didn't let him talk
