I would definitely try the Bubble Tea bun. Thanks for your recommendations. Also 肉圓. They are my favourites since childhood. However,彰化 is more famous for 肉圓. Maybe you could explore there when you have a chance!
Agree totally with your take on the Spore chicken rice, definitely bamboo shoot better than miserable pieces of cucumbers but not forgetting the fresh fragrant corianders leaves n the vinegared chilli sauce that compliments the Spore Hainanese chicken rice. Oh how much l missed them. Makes me want to fly home to just spend two weeks in quarantine eating all the local food ordered from GRAB or asked my friends for favours to deliver my favorites to my quarantine hotel n then "bingeing" for the rest of my stay (a month) after the quarantine is over.
Perfect spoken Chinese! -from a fellow SGporean haha. And thank you for your foodtour of Hsinchu.. really makes me miss my stay there previously :) stay safe
Thks. Another great video on Taiwan foods. Agree that the Hainanese Chicken Rice in Singapore is nice and delicious. The rice is cooked with natural chicken stock and some spices, and the chicken meat is tender. 新竹市has many shops selling good foods. Love to visit Taiwan again when the pandemic is over Can you do an education system in Taiwan as compared to SG esp with expatriate like you whose children are in-between countries and attending different schools?
Hello, excellent report, very well detailed, I had just had lunch when I started to watch your video and I got hungry again 😊, thank you for sharing these trips and commenting on the gastronomic culture of Asia, I congratulate you on your excellent way of explaining everything , greetings and until the next video 😊👍☘️🙏.
Taiwanese chili sauce are mostly watery, sweet and a just a tiny tinge sour. Spiciness level could just be 5% at most for the sake of it haha! But lots of great food there. Just that Singapore's variety is much wider. I can't live long without a sample of our Malay/Indonesian food at least a meal or two per week.
Richard, it must be sweltering hot there @5:47; Man! Those copious droplets of sweat! Anywhere, always looking fwd to ur videos cause you brought to me 3 greatest loves - hiking, food & Taiwan! Would you ever wander out to other provinces for a day-shoot of sorts? TC and stay safe.
Yes. I will be starting more long distance and trips to other counties starting next week. It was a bit tough to do so while moving house, doing quarantine and with the kids on holiday!
If you want to try out some old military (眷村)flavor... try out 家家麵食. For Hakka style food, visit 義民廟 in 新埔. Also a Historic site. For a more diverse dining experience, go to 東門市場 in the evening and find small shops and restaurants that specialize in different styles. Kinda traditional market meets trendy feel. Personally a fan.
I'm from Hsinchu and grew up here, it's cool to see how you enjoy our foods) Regarding the 肉圓, I suggest you have a try of 內媽祖肉圓, it's my top 1 肉圓 in Hsinchu. There's another tasty food just at the corner not far away from 胡椒餅, it's pork ankle.(黃家豬腳). Anyway, there are a lot of delicious foods at the 北門 old street. Enjoy your life in Hsinchu.
Wow, thanks for the food tour. I admire you can live in such a good city. One suggestion, the post for food price is kind of short to me. The post disappears so quick (3 or 4 seconds). I need to rewind very post to watch the price again. If you can double the post window, that will be great to me. Have a good weekend.
Food food food , i had to have my lunch after watching the vlog Richard but thats not a bad thing . I think i would prefer Singapore Hainan Chicken Rice too . I think you really miss Singapore by all your references to the place but no worries Taiwan looks okay and good for your wife to be back home :-)
This week is a "tempting" epiode 🤤, but I still look forward to u bringing close ups of Taiwan scenaries 🥰. Still backtracking on your Spore videos (hope u dont delete them) as I followed u only a couple of months ago. Seems like we might have to go into another no outdoor dining session soon as many bus interchanges have been hard hit by covid in the past week! 😓😓😓

SG has boon chang chicken rice too. And the last part where you were holding a bot of sambal chilli, my first thought was you have become half SG oredi bcoz SG can't go without chilli, we swear by it to go with the food. Lol. Hsin Chu looks like a quieter place than SG, I thought I like that💘😇.
Hi Richard, thank you for the food tour. Just on looks, I think I’ll go for the smoked sausage and the boba bun. Stay safe and take care. Look forward to your next adventure next Saturday. 😋😷
I like that. It's funny. Surely, it's getting better these days thanks to all the tech industry migrants? I guess it depends whether you are like me and will eat from the street stalls or not. I prefer that kind of food to overpriced restaurants.

Hi thank u came to Hsinchu ,Have a good day!
Thank you! You too!
Some Singapore chicken rice use achar to replace cucumber and tomato
When I see you enjoying your favourite pepper bun, it explains why you also love curry puff that much.
Well done, Richard. Another thumbs up for you.👍👍👍🇸🇬
Very interesting video. I will have to check out some of these places myself when I go into town!
You should!
If you are still around Hsinchu, there is another 胡椒餅 place on 學府路 that's also quite nice.
Thanks
Every episode bring so much surprises. The mood is like receiving a new story book. I would cuddle at a cosy corner and enjoy it. 👍
Besides珍珠奶茶 包, the other products are so delicious. You can taste next time, such as 城隍包,竹筍包…….
Glad you're back in Hsinchu

Great food.....! so no place in SG to get Hujiao bing Hújiāo bǐng? Google does not know any.....
I know. I had to make my own!
Good to see you settled in well and widening your range in Hsin Chu.
Richard is superb

Try the Singaporean place (龍虎海南雞飯) on Minsheng Road - it’s probably the closest to Singaporean Hainanese chicken rice you’ll find in the city.
Really enjoying your content and can't wait to visit Taiwan again someday.
You should!
For that bubble tea bun, it said buy 10 get 6 more free. It was quite a bargain. I think they also have black sugar bun which is also quite nice.
I only bought 2! I need a bigger family.

Given the cost of living in tw, 胡椒饼isn’t cheap however it’s also my all time favourite.
The chicken fats and pandan fragrance beat it all 😀
I guess the pepper bun here is a little bit higher priced. Usually a pepper bun costs roughly ntd $40
