@larryandjoe As a 5-string player I'm so impressed! I really enjoy the progressive stuff. You go Joe and Larry! Big fan of Dule as well, thanks to him and the crew for a most excellent film!
Thank you for sharing this wonderful story. I love the music. I feel like bluegrass is seeing explosive growth and people like Joe are helping to keep it fresh, alive, and accessible to a larger audience. I have been fortunate enough to see Rhiannon Giddens & Jake Blount in concert. I would say Larry & Joe fit into this wave of artists challenging the boundaries of bluegrass and showing unique possibilities not yet explored.
Interesting story and beautiful music. Both the 5 string banjo and the cuatro llanero utilize re-entrant tuning (the strings do not go from low to high across the instrument, as in a guitar or other linear-tuned string instruments).
Try telling that to my grandma! I hear you though - we're foothills. But every region starts somewhere, and Winston-Salem sure is a hotbed for Appalachian folk music. Some of the greatest Appalachian folk musicians are from the Piedmont!
Thanks for sharing our story!

Greetings from Australia. Was that a picnic at Jordan Lake?
That was at the Eno State Park in Durham. Not too far!
Such a beautiful story. Also Winston Salem isn't in Appalachia.
Thanks for sharing this.

I live in Ohio & we have areas that may not be considered Appalachia geographically but culturally and economically they are very Appalachian.
