    Hej Todderbert thanks for the bandscan XHDATA D-901 is very interesting and a nice strong flashlight perfect to have in a radio when you are out in the woods or camping although I have good flashlights with me too but it's nice with more light backup. I've ordered a new Aiwa radio again and it's the Aiwa RS 44 so we'll see how good it is when it arrives but was very impressed with the Aiwa pocket radio RS-33 that I bought. Then I'm waiting for the Sonny IFC-P37, it should probably arrive this week, I've downloaded specifications for both the older model Sony IFC-P36 and the newer model Sonny IFC P37 so I look at what sets them apart. Right now from what I can see now, the Sonny IFC-P37 seems to have better battery life than the Sonny IFC P36 and a higher frequency range on the FM band and AM band Sony IFC-P37 has
    FM: 76MHz - 108MHz
    AM:530kHz - 1710kHz
    otherwise they seem the same, but it could be something else that the Sony ICF-P37 is better at than the Sony IFC-P36 the Sony IFC-P36 seems to be hard to come by now The Sony IFC-P37 appears to have replaced the Sony IFC-P36 but I'll see if I can get the sony IFC-P36 as well take care and have a nice evening.

    Thank you for your MW scan. Pretty impressive decked out radio at the price point. Just right for all the car camping folk. I bet they could have squeezed the NOAA band in there some how. Right? 😎

    Just a heads up, this has gone on sale for $24 on Amazon, and the smaller but similar XHDATA D368 is currently on sale for $20.

    Looks like a very good buy with a lot of features for $26. (This may be radio blasphemy), but as much as I hate to admit it, I have become a fan of DSP radios. Most are goofy to tune but they pick up so many channels fm. This radio will be on my list. I need to save up some radio money and get the CC Pocket and Solar Observer. Thanks as always.

      What I like about DSP tech, is that when you get a station lock, it stays there, and never drifts. I have a cheap $5 NIA radio that has been running 24/7 for the past three years, on the same FM station. I just keep swapping the batteries out.

    Why do SWL enthusiasts rarely use ham radio general coverage receivers? The performance of a modern ham rig is going to beat a consumer-grade Chinese SWL radio. Maybe cost or operating complexity?
    Would love to see your review of the Icom IC-705 on AM in the MW BCB.
    Perhaps Universal or HRO has a loaner or open-box unit they would let you review.

      Cheap and cheerful is sometimes the point with SWL. After all, I could listen to some random Ham's expensive gear on KiwiSDR without my own radio. When my thrift store radios pull in something good loud and clear with a wire antenna, I am a happy shortwave guy. I really appreciate that I can listen in a free country, to the same broadcasts as someone who has to do clandestine radio radio listens do wherever they are. It doesn't matter if it it's a religious station, the BBC, or a numbers station-it really matters to someone else out there with maybe just a cheap radio.

      @@brentsutherland6385 Agree, and I'm happy the Chinese are sticking with radio for the masses, all the western companies gave up on it. These little companies make good products for very little money, congrats to them I say. Many might see the traditional radio as dying or dead, but I imagine there are many countries, like India, China, and countries in Africa where analogue radio is really popular still with millions of ordinary people. Happy to have both vintage Western and Japanese and modern Chinese radios in my collection.

      @@neodonkey Exactly-the people that SW broadcasts are aimed at probably do not have an Icom or Yaesu and a massive antenna. They've got an old Sony or new Tecsun, etc.

    Oh, and I’ve been meaning to ask: if you use this with an SD card or USB stick and stop playback to listen to the radio or just do something else, when you come back to the SD/USB playback, does it pick up from where you left off? Seems important if you want to load up some audiobooks.

    • @michaelbaumgart7625
      @michaelbaumgart7625 2 года назад +1

      No, it starts the last MP3-file from the beginning. I have this radio and it's a bit annoying, especially if you listen to audiobooks.

    Hey man, great review. I just bought one but honestly I´m a bit disappointed, the reception it´s not great but at least it´s cheap. I will keep trying but I want to buy another one. What would you recommend me for AM/FM? Tecsun PL330, CC Skywave, Seangean SG-104, Thanks for this and a lot of great reviews.

    • @todderbert
      @todderbert  2 года назад +2

      I honestly get great reception with my 901. If you want a pocket radio that is a decent starter, the Sihaudon R-108 is a Great Choice. If you need SSB, the Tecsun PL-330. I'm a fan of the R-108 because of the included AIR band. I live near O'Hare INTL.
