- The Legendary Panasonic RF-2200 AM FM Shortwave Portable Radio is put through a Daytime Medium Wave Band Scan for a Second Time. Spent some time, and took apart the radio before the video to clean up the pots, and switches. It works like new. If you own this Receiver, DeOxit is your Friend :)

Excellent radio
I would love to own this radio
This is my go to SWL radio for over 40 years.... And it still works great with no mods.
Panasonic made some fantastic radios.
Panasonic was huge back then, more of a big name even than Sony in the 70’s. Oh, and it sure does pull in 720 WGN, lol 😇
Agreed! And Panasonic was actually the more reliable product because it was more robust. They were generally built to take some roughness.
I had this same model and enjoyed every single aspect of it. I did use it to listen to ameteurs and it was OK, you just went with the drift. Still one of my favourites to use. Surprise that you found one that is still in good condition.
Sitting on my non-enclosed back porch last week (Ill. Valley) with a very cheap shortwave radio trying to find something to listen to,, I also fired up a Amazon Fire Tablet which was maybe within 3 feet of the shortwave radio and UHF/microwave signal coming off that tablet wiped out that shortwave signal,, I check to make sure and yes it was RF from router/tablet doing it. Thinking I maybe want an old boat anchor shortwave but also new enough for FM/SSB and maybe a scanner for the 50mhz and above listening with decoding and all the goodies depending. Only problem is everything is "new tech", I like the durability of solid state or maybe a few decade after that,,, with "real dial tuning" and not a push button. Nothing on the market new and an Elite is about the closest I see. Thanks for the videos.
Back in the day, Panasonic was tops in everything they made. Do they make any radios today in Japan?
Hej Todderbert, thanks for the AM bandscan. The Panasonic RF-2200 is so nice. I would love to have this lovely Panasonic radio. Take care, Todderbert, and have a nice day.
Argh! Another rf-2200 bcb scan turning the entire radio instead of using the rotating ferrite antenna that was made specifically for this purpose.
yeah, no kidding right? :)
Nanotechnology has shrunk everything 🤏🏻
