    Well presented. Just ordered mine. Have been using the x20S for three seasons. And I can tell you I've never been happier. No issues at all. Like you. I've been in this hobby for forty five years and have seen quite allot of change in technology.

    Great job Andy Headlines reads- Old Futaba Guy buys FrSky X20S! Love it! Totally programable. You want it, just program it in. It can even tell you when you get low on fuel but one thing no one talks about is that Bluetooth mode can send sounds right to your hearing aids. You may get there one of these days! See you on the flight line.

    Completely agree. I picked myself up an X20pro the other week and it’s a fantastic radio. As you say I think FrSky have nailed the market with this one. It’s premium enough for people who like to spend a lot but well priced enough for people to upgrade who want something more premium than they currently have. Happy New Year from 🇬🇧 Andy 👍🏻

    Good overview. The other significant difference with the X20 PRO and the rest of the line up is that [coming soon] the X20 PRO will support dual 2.4G RF + 900M. So there will be three RF paths linking the receiver. FrSky will be coming out with receivers that are "TD PRO" - ie. TWIN 2.4 and 900 bands together. Love my X20 PRO. I upgraded from X20S

    • @r7_guy941

      Hi , are you sure about the dual 2,4 G RF modules ? Do you have any experience with the x20 ?

    • @cx9drvr
      @cx9drvr Месяц назад

      @@r7_guy941 Hi. Sorry, I misinterpreted the TW Pro protocol. It is not 2 x 2.4 + 900 but is 2 x 2.4 + Access R9 mode. This is what is written on the FrSky product page: "The X20 PRO added the dual 2.4G TW RF mode and supports simultaneous activation of both TW and ACCESS R9 modes. In this configuration, TW receiver and ACCESS R9 receiver can be connected via the SBUS IN/OUT ports to achieve redundant backup. This RF signal connection method allows for the simultaneous use of three different RF links in RC applications. This further enhances the RF signal’s reliability, particularly in scenarios involving long-dis-tance RC operations." I used to own an X20S but now own a Pro. X20 is a perfectly good transmitter and handles the Tandem protocol.

    Thanks for the very objective overview on the FrSky radios Andy👍…I had to go on with a new radio last month and was considering Jeti or Futaba (have a T16sz). As I fly Futaba since the 90s I’m OK with their Futaba-typical programming software 😏! Anyway, Jeti is floating on their success of the last two years and prices here in Europe are around 1.800 USD for the 16 channel, I bought a T16sz super potless and cannot complain! But I have to commit, I’m a Heli pilot and need Gyro implementation and telemetry as a standard! But nice info on FrSky 👍,

    I received my X20 Pro a couple of weeks ago and really like it. I've had many FrSky transmitters (X9D, X9D+, QX7, X12S, X10S, X-Lite) and have never had a problem with any of them. When ETHOS rolled out I was not happy about their decision to abandon OpenTX and go the proprietary route. I even bought a Radiomaster TX16S and upgraded all of my radios to EdgeTX. The dual-band intrigued me though, but I wasn't yet ready to embrace ETHOS, but after having a discussion with FrSky Steve (Schlesinger) I decided on a X20 Pro. My only complaint is, the ETHOS Suite needs the model edit function like OpenTX/EdgeTX Compaanion. Other than that. I'm selling my other transmitters and will purchase another FrSky as a buddy-box and emergency backup.

    Great overview. My biggest concern with this radio is the short sides and I am surprised no has mentioned this. I have the X7S and it has been a very good radio but when I get over vigorous with my so called 3D flying my hands fall off or down the short sides of the transmitter and I lose my thumb off the stick. I'm a mode 1 flyer. I love Frsky never had a signal loss and very good reliability, but this is preventing me from upgrading to this radio. I want to eventually fly a 100cc plane with Frsky but does anyone else have worries about this? Most other premium radios have longer sides (Hand grips)

    I started the hobby with Futaba and had owned many of their radios with the highest of their line being the 9zap WC2, but years after it was the latest and greatest. When they went to the $3000 radios I decided it was time to move on and flew Mutiplex EVO which was great for programming but poor quality and then extinct. Bought a Taranis used for cheap and liked it but wouldn’t trust it with anything but foamies. Bought a Horus 10 which required a lot of time learning OpenTx and now just a year ago bought a Tandem 18. This is a great radio. I am confident with this TX and the Archer Rxs impressed with the telemetry and customization. I’m sure I will never use more than 30% of this radio’s capability being an old radio guy. It looks great but it's just not enough money - That made me laugh. This was a great review; I'm going to forward it to a friend who's been thinking about moving on from Spektrum. Funny thing about transmitter feels. Remember the bulbous Airtronics transmitter, was it the Infinity? That was not a comfortable transmitter. I bought an Airtronics in '81 because the SR was way more comfortable to hold than the more popular Futaba Gold Box. The perception of weight and quality is so true, I myself noticed my new NX-10 was lighter than the DX8G2 it was destined to supplant. The big difference was the much lighter battery but...

    I have an X20S - I like the PRO but at twice what I paid for the X20S it is very difficult to justify.
    I prefer the squared-off bottom and the paddle switches but that really isn’t enough.
    I also prefer the side knobs to be pointing down - so much so I bought the optional knobs but haven’t fitted them - the reason is that you can’t use them with the grips fitted and I think the X20/S needs the side grips. I guess you could cut away part of the grip to accommodate the optional knobs but I wouldn’t like to do that.

    Its the best radio that you van buy from frsky. The software is nice as well as the touch screen. The most expensive of a transmitter is indeed the switches and off course the gimbal. But the thing with the gimbals are that there only 2 brands that has smooth and round gimbals wih ball-bearing and with quality hall sensors. JETI and Powerbox and they have for safety double antennas 📡. Smoothness is everything on a transmitter the less tension from the springs and abrupt deadzone in the gimbals the better you have control about your rc aircraft. Your fingers are very sensitive so the smallest resistance can lead to loss of control. Not totally loss of control but you lose the smooth controled steering with squared gimbals. JETI has rounded gimbals and smooth and easy to stear. I will go for a JETI
