  • The secret technique to draw a realistic face with charcoal. One question that many beginners wonder is how to draw a realistic face with charcoal, today we'll discus how to draw a portrait using charcoal.
    Hey guys, so many of you know that knowing how to draw skin charcoal is key to getting a realistic drawing with charcoal. But getting to draw realistic face with charcoal does not come easy to many. So today I wanted to share my technique for how to draw realistically with charcoal.       Thanks a lot @Indidi. If you want smooth skin, charcoal powder is the way to go. You can also opt for graphite powder. Thanks again 😁

      It's a fine surface. They call Pelican Card.i also recommend Strathmore Bristol Smooth.

      Wow can't really say. It's been a while. I think I used the sharp edge of a stick eraser. An alternative is tombow mono zero eraser. Or better still, white charcoal.

    Do you actually clean out the grids before you start working on, because i use kneaded eraser to clean it out and then it leaves paste on my paper which in the case messes it up

    How can you reduce darkness with tissue paper since it's not an eraser ,???

      Just rub the dark spot with tissue, it will make it lighter not completely erase like eraser.

      Not the best but great
      1. Stylistic choice - I love how white background allows the shaded subject to stand out.
      2. Lazy artist - why bother with shading backgrounds when the job is already done. Lol.

      Yeah. I use charcoal powder all the time. If you are still a beginner, though, charcoal powder might not be easy for you.

      Yeah, that's the best way to go about it. Since charcoal powder can be rather destructive, it's best to start go over lightly, at least for the early rounds.

      @@karenstanton5405 Wells yes, paper does affect drawings. II use Pelican, not available everywhere but I hear Strathmore Bristol is King for realistic drawings.
