I really liked this song. Sadly I didn't find this song from spotify. It seems odin is my guide, signy, andvari's god and journey to utgard, is there. Do you have any plans uploadin these songs to spotify?
When you say darker days are left behind, what do you mean exactly. Freyfest is traditionally held in August, which if I'm not mistaken is sacred to Frey. The way I think of it is we pray for wealth and prosperity to survive the darker days. Am I just overthinking this?
Toq The Wise To try and make a brief response: Freysblotar and general festivities to Freyr/Frey have precedents in different parts of the year -- Yule (cf. Helgakviða, and Helvarar saga), autumn, spring (this lattermost seeming to have been popular for the 'ship-processions'; and Frey, as a figure of the sacred kingship, could also be seen as the bringer of the new year after winter, and the increase of the Day). Not only god of the harvest, but of fertility and virility and produce, too (as well as other things). So the line you're inquiring after, could be taken 'literally' as to the 'when', though it could be taken figuratively as well. Reaves' academic essay "The Cult of Freyr and Freyja", paints the picture as he was seen by the arch-heathens quite well (an essay which should be read in itself for anyone interested in the topic!). Not sure where I first found that essay, but probably off academia.edu :)
Thorrin Jonsson Also, from what I recall H.R.E. Davidson's 4th chapter ("Gods of Peace and Plenty") in her book "Gods and Myths of Northern Europe", was a good overview and discussions of sources and whatnot as well (though HRED is sometimes to be taken with a grain of salt, as her scholarship is a bit older and some of the ideas she endorsed are no longer agreed with, though they're not frequent; for the most part, she is always worth the read, and was a great scholar)
Its just the Irish-Bouzouki, same main instrument that plays through the whole song ;) though it may be worth noting that I usually use lower open tunings for these types of original compositions
Sing, don't growl. Growling in Norse or Viking music is the result of men having no outlet for their masculinity because of feminists dictating what is acceptable behavior in most social situations. Men then react by trying to become hyper-masculine in situations where being masculine is permitted. Don't play that game. Growling is not appealing and I highly doubt that Skalds growled at all.
Hail the joy bringer, the gift giver, prince of peace, mighty Van, the harvest king!
I love it! Well done!
Hail Frey!
Amazing Thorrin!
Great lied!!
Hail Frey
Freysblot is tomorrow. Hail Yngvi!!!

How hard was the ending to the song on your throat?
You should put your stuff on spotify 😊

+Toq The Wise Art does not need explanation. It actually is more powerful with a hint of mystery in it.
Is the sheet music for this song available for sale? I would like to learn it for an upcoming Freyr blót. Thanks
Nequeo nisi fateri me esse incaluisse tuo cantu magnoque gaudio, quamquam plus amassem si voce veterum tuorum Deorum usus esses. Vale.

Excellent feel to the song. What is the stringed instrument you used in the very beginning?
Its just the Irish-Bouzouki, same main instrument that plays through the whole song ;) though it may be worth noting that I usually use lower open tunings for these types of original compositions
Hail Alfrodull Yngvi Freyr
SKol!
Iontach ar fad
Great tune, but would leave out the Irish whistle. Makes it sound Medieval and well not Nordic at all.
why do you SING in english? SING in old germanic!!!
The real question is why he doesn't sing in Eāld Englisc

This is a pretty disappointing comment, to try and enforce social constructs onto an artistic outlet such as music is just plain sad...
Jesus you fockin nerd loser
