    Wow, nice pitchy knot there. Indexing of the face on the piece is awesome. Definately looks like an old trapper 👍
    Beautiful colors in that one.

      Thanks Mike, I like the vertical stripes on the face, part of the grain but different. The wool brings out tones
      nicely, hence my overuse, haha! Take care!🌞🌝

    Boob tube had me in time out yesterday,😂 so I couldn’t reply! Awesome carving! It’s almost translucent! I bet that would buff out like glass? Good stuff! take care of yourself 👍🏻

      @wood-psyche  5 месяцев назад

      No worries, just glad things are back on track. Nice observation, it’s got
      the layer effect, like you say translucent. Could be like amber, where insects are trapped. Wait till I throw the super fine wool on it.🌞 b well!

    Paul, you are one of the best for faces! There seems to be a lot of sap or is that just that? The colors are amazing, I love this piece and its movements! Question: where to find these pine roots? Are you cutting directly into the ground?

    • @wood-psyche
      @wood-psyche  5 месяцев назад

      Many thanks/merci Sophie, these are pine knots, they are laying usually on the ground around a decomposed trunk, you have seen the other video I noticed. Each knot has different colors and shapes, like humans sort of. It’s why I like them. 🌞cheers!

    Thats a lot of resin how do you clean your pits

    • @wood-psyche
      @wood-psyche  5 месяцев назад

      Yeah, almost like plastic. I use solvent like isopropyl alcohol and brass brushes to clean. 🌞!

    Looking good Paul I was working on a knot the other day but it was rotten inside 😢on the burn pile it went

    • @wood-psyche
      @wood-psyche  5 месяцев назад

      Thank you Mark, I find that feeling the weight of the knot in your hands indicates if it’s solid or not. If it’s really light, then it’s pretty much toast. Will be doing a blank knot giveaway soon, btw. Box of knots.🌝

    Love this carve. The wood has some great colors too.😊 How do you clean the gummed up burrs when carving those pine knots? I still need to get out and collect some to carve, but knowing ahead of time how to deal with that would be very helpful.

    • @wood-psyche
      @wood-psyche  4 месяца назад +1

      I usually soak burrs in a solvent in a small glass jar with a lid, to prevent evaporation .
      You don’t need to soak them long unless they seriously gummed up. I use a little brass brush which usually removes the pitch. I recommend using eye protection to prevent
      solvent spatter getting in your eyes. This
      should get the job done most of the time.
      Otherwise, I’ve had to use a scribe to scrape
      out stubborn bits. Hope that clears up any questions.🌝 Also, this knot gets darker tones I think when it’s decomposing more.

      @@wood-psyche Maybe the decomp did have something to do with the colors in it. It's a great carving. Yeah, that does help, thanks for explaining it. I appreciate you taking the time to respond.👍😊 Have an awesome day!
