    Legend! Quick and easy to follow and straight to the point, been putting off connecting the 3 solenoids in my backyard for a week or two & ready to tackle it now!👍🏼

    Great tutorial...i do have a question...i have 3 valves in the irrigation box...however i wanted to add a 4th & 5th zone down the yard. How do you wire so Value #3 is open when 4th needs to open and then same for 5th valve. Essentially valve #3 is acting as a master for #4 and #5.

      The #3 valve can be wired to the pump start on the controller. Assuming #3 doesn’t have heads on it and is only acting as a master valve. Most controllers have a pump start.

      @@cupchanger Thank you for the quick response. Yes there is a Pump (black label) on the control box, will add it there and test it out.

    Got a question if possibly know the answer?
    Hooked up my 3 solenoids, 2 work fine when ran by themselves but the third runs when any other station is turned on, including the front 2 stations (seperate to the 3 I have connected), not a wiring issue as have checked its all definitely correct and no damage to cable underground or anything (checked via continuity), could it possibly be a faulty solenoid or am I missing something??

    • @cupchanger

      More than likely that zone is hooked up to the pump connection. It is generally the connection adjacent to zone 1 in the controller wiring. The pump connection is activated whenever another zone is turned on. Often the controller numbering label doesn’t make this error apparent. To fix this you would just move the wire down from this slot to zone 3 or move all wires 1 slot to the right if they need to stay in order.

      @@cupchanger again, have checked continuity so don’t believe it’s a wiring issue. Black wire is in the common and then I believe the green wire (which is the colour I’m using for that station) is in the zone 4. Unless it matters which of the two wires you connect it to at the solenoid but I thought they were transposable?

      @@cupchangersomething else I haven’t tried is just changing it to a different zone to see if maybe that zone is faulty?

      Solenoids can be wired either direction since they are an electro magnet, unless it is a battery operated controller. In that case the solenoid is directional.

      I have had that happen before, so it is worth a try.

    Is 16 AWG "marine wire" good for sprinklers? Wasn't sure if all 16 AWG wire are created equal. Thank you!

    • @cupchanger
      @cupchanger  7 месяцев назад +1

      Most home grade sprinkler wire is 18 gauge single strand wire, so the marine wire is of adequate gauge, but it is likely multi strand. While I can’t give you advice on this specific wire. I have seen home sprinkler timer systems run on all kinds of wire, and they work fine, but it is probably not recommended.
      The recommended wire to use is direct burial 16-18 gauge for short distances and direct burial 12-14 gauge for most commercial applications.

    What if they’re was too valves in the back yard instead of one?

    I bought recently the house and I did some backyard work but the contractor removed all wires. I have question can i connect two comp wires at box (I mean two white wires, since the box have two wires one from side yeard and other back yard)

    • @CDPMATH
      @CDPMATH Год назад

      I don’t see why not. I would probably do a pigtail. Connect both white wires along with a third wire (also white) to connect to the controller.
