They also may have had only small hand held fire extinguishers, the average person has a minute or two to get a fire under control after that its grown to big to handle.

    The aerial photo shows many boats that are not on the fire end of the pontoon that are leaking a lot of fuel. even boats tied up to the seawall, and one clear up at the top of the image. it' no wonder why so many boats burned, the water is and was flammable.

    It constantly amazes me that whenever there is a fire disaster like this, there are always some heroes that try to either fight the fire or save the boats that are not alight yet. Most ordinary people just stand around with their smart phones filming it, but boat folk get motivated and do their best to ensure that no one is in the boats, put the fire out if they can, or tow away the boats to stop the spread.

      @@tamasvarga67 Help the people who are trained fire-fighters to stop the fire spreading and call the emergency services rather than just standing around videoing on their phones and getting in the way.
      Most people who are trained mariners are also trained in firefighting. All RN personnel do a course at HMS Raleigh on mock-up ships and use real equipment and techniques to put the fires out. I guess that the answer to my question above is that most boat folk are ex-armed forces or professional sailors and they've gone through courses. The important thing is that any of these boats could have people onboard and if they might not be aware that they are in danger, or they might be injured and unable to escape. Boats tend to have a lot of flammable material and so the faster you react to a fire, the better the chances that you will stay alive and save lives.

      When we had a fire 🚒🔥 at are Marina
      We only lost 6 boats. Not saying that lightly it could have been much worse like this fire. Here is the sucky thing. The boat where the fire started ( the man smells fuel in the bulge) goes down to investigate or he was fixing something
      They just skipped town, filed for bankruptcy, just totally avoided anyway so no loss people could get money from the couple. I really felt bad for the people that lost a boat they probably loved. The marina requires us to have boat fire ( insurance for any loss) and they require the boat leaser of slip to provide them copies each year. After the fire at the marina. And believe me when we got there the whole parking lot was full of Ladder and Engine Rigs. Our FD has a 30 foot moose boat build type modern fire boat, with a big deluge nozzle on the bow. Most of their call outs are for coast guard alerts to mariners. Basically they have taken over the TOW back into the pier for Sunday boaters running out of FUEL I see so many small FDs or Fish & Wildlife cops getting High tech fast emergency boats, that they have basically replaced the CG rolls
      Anyway I've heard from a Marina employee who I know closely that the other boats that were lost to fire. The owners had to go through their own Insurance. That's why Marina wanted us to show them and have on record Insurance coverage for our own vessel
      What I hated the most about what Marina did was to lease out slips for temporary stay boaters. Some of these boats were pieces of poo, Po. Bilge pump always running. Using non Marina type plug in for power, boats that just had the woodworking all flaking up. And the people look even more scary. So the marina would let u be a seaworthy boat moor at Marina, but it looks like if there boats start a crain reaction FIRE. It's on me and you the boat owners who lost their boats.

    I know it’s super yacht news but to hear you say (about the fire). There were no super yachts involved’. Hurt me. This is because some of us put everything into owning a boat and if it’s lost it is totally devastating. We are not all rich.

    No owners were reported to jump out of boats to save their lives. The firefighters and nightwatchman had to tow the burning boats away from other boats as their mooring lines burned away and they started to float towards other boats. One yacht had to be beached, even as it was burning.

    Considering the fierce fires generated by a burning electric vehicle this fire looks suspiciously like an EV fire... Electric boats are watercraft powered by electricity, not gasoline or diesel. They use electric motors and batteries for propulsion and offer sustainable boating alternatives. They are gaining momentum as a clean, efficient alternative to traditional marine vessels.

  • @tonyadeney1245
    @tonyadeney1245 21 день назад +1

    some countries have very strict regs about marina fire fighting equipment /// but some a bit lax ....... EU and UK Fire extinguishers must be available if there is a risk for a spreading of fire between the boats. The extinguishers must be able to be used by the boat-crews. Fixed extinguishing equipment should be established in harbours containing 80 boats or more.
