Good luck with your project. I got my ER5 a week ago and i love it already. As the winter is coming I have a lot of upgrades in my mind. Its always a pleasure to watch your videos for some ideas and inspiration. Keep on doing the great job you do. Thank you.
I'm new here! I've just rebuilt my 2001 ER5. But mine was effed compared to yours. It took me 6 weeks as I live in the middle of nowhere, I have no other transport I can use, and don't have all the right tools to do it quickly (it took me 40+ hours to chisel the rust off the frame). Loads of welding, plastigauge and buying OEM parts later, my bike is ready for another 114k miles. I kept it looking ratty, with the original 'champagne gold/rust' look, but it's like new to ride. It's good to check the frame for rust where it cradles the engine, as it gets pebble-dashed by the front wheel - once I removed the flaking rust, I could get several fingers in the hole! Also check the brace plate on the underside of the swingarm, as water can get in the top of the swingarm, but not out easily. An extra mudguard for the front wheel will reduce general maintenance time, especially if you use it over winter. Safe riding dude :)
FINALLY have time to catch up! :) Good to see the ER5 getting some more love! Those brake shoes are knackered....definitely glad you replaced them for your sake! Looking forward to your ambitious special! :D
@@MillerCorner Could always do a stop-motion time-lapse like Mathisox did on his Piaggio Ape 50 'Off-road' build! Might be a LITTLE time consuming though! ;) ruclips.net/video/X8fZ_ASPwuA/видео.html
With the onset of dubious weather here in the U.K, a garage project is a great idea. Looking forward to the 2021 update and the transformation of your bike Joe. I also enjoyed the use of the Clarkson hammer 🤣🤣.
Looking forward to seeing what your dream Kawasaki ER5 will look like alongside this project movie 😁 Those brakes were rather busted to say the least...
My old Peugeot scooter drum brakes were the same design, and so are a lot of other bikes I've worked on. However, one thing my Peugeot used to do was drink water into the drum and basically create a disgusting grimey sludge which made it fail it's MOT with brand new shoes lol.
i think you put, the brakes on the same way you take it off. :-( p.s, could you put some sticky out indicators , back on because new riders will get ideas.
Personally I wouldn’t have put grease where you did. Heat will make it run and poss hit the shoes. The cam can be pushed out if you remove the operating arm. I would grease the shaft of the operating cam. Not where you put grease
@@MillerCorner you should have heard me after doing the rear suspension on the Alfa, I was feeling it for days! Maybe I'll invest in a proper lift one day (or yoga classes lol). Have fun with this winter project.
Loving the commentary very entertaining thank you.

Awesome, nice work bud! Thanks for the tips, should be very useful with my build 😁 cheers for watching 👊🏻
@@MillerCorner My pleasure! Thank you for showing us what you get up to. :)

Good luck with the rebuild and looking forward to seeing the results.
Thanks Andy 😁 it's gonna be good!
Fitting the break shoes is a reversal of taking it apart (you attach the springs before placing them on the cams)

I've always said the rear brakes on the Kawasaki were decent!
Morgan Freeman: The rear brakes were not decent...
@@MillerCorner Any chance of getting Morgan Freeman to narrate any of yours or Classics Worlds videos in the future for moments such as that? 😜
If only the budget stretched to such thing!
Nice videos my friend. 🏍👍😊
Thanks bud 😁
That sounds AWESOME!!!!!!
Sweet, I need to do this on mine over the winter for sure
for the pads, connect th springs then pry pads over hub, likeyou took off
Thanks for the shoutouts last week and did u like the bmw joke? Also as usual, top noch video
I laughed my arse off at the BMW joke. But that's alright, because I drive a BMW, so I'm allowed.
So did I when he said... argh
the frame would last a lot longer if you had it powder coated. love to see it in 2021

Lovely Jubbly, that's a long wait, why not break it down to 30 mins each one?
Is that something people would prefer? Two or three long videos or one massive one? 🤔
Rebuild soon come

I laughed my ass out about the bmw joke
Am I the only one thinking I wish I could squat with my knees bent for that long without showing any signs of fatigue?
Oh believe me, you didn't hear the groaning and complaining afterwards...

I hear you brother...
Joe i might be making a come back to fiat 😉
Ooh! 👀
Ill need some mpi indicators tho
Ahh they all come back in the end 😁👍
If you haven’t got an old toothbrush, you can always use some else’s instead.
