Man...Just a killer live performance... TJ's voice is amazingly still great....And , even the guitarist does an awesome job of preserving the feel of the original . Nice surprise to see a live performance of this calibre....!
From the days when incredible music and true musicians ruled the world. No era can and will ever be like the 60s/70s again. I'm privileged to have experienced that. What a fantastic song this was!
This was playing in my 1962 Mercury when I pulled into Texaco for gas, and my husband to be walked out to my car,we locked eyes, fell in love, and this became our song forever....♥
I'm almost 65 years old and I remember when this song and Tommy James other music were on the radio all the time. Amazing how he sounds so good all these years later. Classic
I've listened to this song for many years Now, who's still listening in 2021. Still listening 6/5/21 & I'm 65 Yrs old and will still be listening while I'm still standing. The song and this performance is Far-Out.
I'm a black guy, and in 1969 I was 17yrs and loved all cultural's of music, well most any way, the Dave Clark Five, Four Seasons and many more, but I must say that Tommy James and The Shondells was one of my favorite groups.
I'm a white guy and in '69 I turned 21 and loved Motown, most of it anyway -- The Temptations, Four Tops, Smokey, and many more -- and I STILL do -- but for Rock & Roll Tommy James was waaaay up there especially with this Hit of his. Oh, I forgot to mention I love the Blues; From BB King, to Albert and Feddie King, and of course Chicago Blues like Buddy Guy. So as someone posted to you already, Music Has No Color.
@@arnoldarnold1034 I almost forgot Dion and the Belmont's, what's his name and the Brooklyn Bridge Calling all angels, and There's trouble in paradise.
Oh my god.....mom, apple pie, chevrolet, and Tommy James. I wore the 8 track out parking on a Saturday night with my girl Janelle. She is gone, but Tommy remains. Awesome
Another great timeless hit by Tommy. What a catalog of fantastic music. Why isn't this group in the RnRHall of Fame? Clearly overlooked and underrated for greatness...Come on all you people who do the nominations stop overlooking this group. Put them in while they're still alive and can revel in it.✌💙🎼
Doesn't get any better than this. I am 22 and feel bad that all the people my age have listened to the top 40 for their whole life and missed out on music like this. One of the best songs ever, and this version is the best for sure.
I think Joan Jett's version is better because the base is more pressing, but this is also coming from a 16 year old who wishes he could've lived in this time period🙃
I was just a runny-nosed kid when I first heard Hanky Panky in 1965 and then heard every one of his hits throughout the 60s and early 70s; a great talent.
HELLO its Me Montana Toni THY BOY Put A Contract out 2 Kill Me He & Elon Musk Payed 5 million 2 Have anialated ,Elon Musk & David Tvesylar Have DARK SIDE Always UR Baby blue corvette
On the day I had delivered my 29 years young wife (she passed away four months later) to the hospital I heard a neighbour playing this record over and over again. Every time I hear it I feel to lonely and helpless again.
OMG soon after I came home from Nam in '73 and started working in the oil field of South Texas, I began going to dances at ol dance halls and listen to local bands which were great. After a few months I began to step in for the bass player and sometime the lead guitar play whenever I could. then one night I got my own 45 minute set to sing what I wanted to sing. People let me tell you all I sang was Tommy James music. After that Saturday night the kids (from 16 up to 19) that's all they wanted to hear. THIS MAN NEEDS TO BE IN THE RnR HALL of FAME !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That was fantastic to watch! Great audio too! Crimson and Clover is a masterpiece of musical heritage. Exceptional guitar riffs, finely and perfectly orchestrated vocals. First time seeing a video of it by the band. Thank you. My first slow dance as a young lad.
This is a rare example of a live performance blowing away the original studio version. I never cared for this song until I heard this version. The strong vocals and great guitar solo here take this song to a new level. Tommy was one of those guys who actually got better with age.
Tommy James I am 38 years old and I'm going to save every penny I have and come see you perform live! Fuck it! I can't miss you, a living fucking legend, playing live! Rock on brother, rock on!
STILL the best song writing and delivery. Tight band, great voice. Still in the zone, no matter how many times he performs his songs. Remarkable. Hall of Fame, come on!
I remember hooking up my freind's record player to my guitar amplifier, putting the amp up to the window and blasting this song all over the neighborhood. Just cause we could. Fun days and great musical backdrop! Love ya TJ
I love this guy's voice & the band. It's 2024 & I'm still listening from when I was mid teen. My big brother ( 15) introduced them to me. He passed away soon after.

Listening to the old songs is like having a window that lets you look into your own soul. My mind goes bsck to the time snd the feeiling of those times. How it made us feel then and how much exactly the same it feels now. It has its own taste.
Had original album with Crimson and Clover on it that I played until I wore it out. Remember turning up the stereo and singing along, much to my parents dismay. It was tough trying to explain why Rock n' Roll needed to be played loud and enjoyed fully. My mom and dad are gone now, but it brings a smile to my face when I think about life and Rock n' Roll back when. Tommy James you rock!!!
This came out when I was in grade school. They would play it at the skating rink under a mirror ball in almost dark. Lights shimmering. Times you never forget
Psychedelic rock has a pleading tone to it. It's as attractive as the sirens singing on the rocks. It's a sweet enticement, like a pie curing on a windowsill. Psych rock is a love song to the frontal lobe.
I heard the chorus on a movie called the divide about 6 or 7 years ago, looked it up, and found a gem. Love the live performance better than the original recording too. Shot out the divide as well..... it's a good doomsday, psychological thriller if you haven't seen it.
I am from guatemala city, my english is not good but i want to say that this song is the hotests one i ever heard. i love u guys. Son expectaculares y nunca me canso de oir su música.
This is the first time I've heard this performed live by the originals - 40 freakin years after it was released? About time and it still sounds good, both spot on and improved. Very nice.
I'm here watching this in Sep2020. I remember this song when it came out. I am old as dirt. hahahah A lot of people here from around the world re-livin' it. Rock on.

AGREED!
Was walking down the street and saw a sign 'Tommy James' in front of the Bitter End. Walked into this show by accident...
Where are the great songs like this today.🎶
