Hey guys! Thanks for watching 🙏🏼 I hope you enjoyed it. Please be sure to check out the links in the description for other relevant videos you may enjoy!
Hey! I chose it because I’ve driven stick all my life, my girl has a 6spd sporty car and I like the crawl control and mts the auto comes. I like the smooth simple ride. I was open to both but the army green one was auto and it drove nice so the deal got done. Love it!
Install the Overland Torque Tune (OTT) and your torque will come on at 2K RPM until redline. The OTT will STOP your transmission from “hunting” for the right gear
Thank you for this channel. I appreciate that you have a focus and are knowledgeable. Surely other viewers also appreciate. There are some RUclips creators with 20 times the view count, but they cover so many cars that their Tacoma/4Runner videos are basically useless, because they aren't knowledgeable.
I only get to drive my 23 OR on weekends, because I’m gone during the week, watching your vids, makes me miss my Tacoma even more!!! Absolutely love these trucks. Thanks Brian
I have a 2022 tacoma trd off road. Had it for just over a year I put in 36k miles. I've taken it off roading at least 6 times smacked the under body twice doing it (nothing major). I've had to use 4 lo only twice. Driven it through snow. It's very capable and I haven't had any issues.
23’ off road premium in lunar rock here. Still adapting to the transmission and getting an OTT tune in July. The Lunar Rock colour is one that changes as well, sometimes it’s quite green and other times it’s grey. Got it for a “good deal” in today’s market with only 8000kms. Really is a wonderful truck and even though they’re stock they’re head turners.
Really glad I found this channel! Very thorough and laid back review, really enjoyed watching this! I'm shopping around for a third gen Tacoma, I've owned 3 2nd gen's(one got totaled) and I wish i hadn't sold my 2015 TRD Sport. I like the technology of the 3rd gen, now that I've had adaptive cruise control on my Camry I don't want to be without it lol. The only thing that concerns me is the gear hunting automatic but I've already reached out to an OTT tuning shop about an hour from my house and got some great info and I'm fully comfortable purchasing a 3rd gen, especially after watching your excellent review and seeing how much you love your truck. I'm going to look at a 2023 TRD Sport tomorrow with 11k miles
I saw one of these at a local dealership. I've never been a truck person, but the style looked nice. So I found this review. Great job going over it all. It looks even better now.
Just got the 2020 off-road and these videos have been very helpful, as I’m a bit of a novice with features, etc. Also just nice to confirm the satisfaction that I suspect I too will have years from now. Thanks man!
Looks great Brian nice upgrades..just back from a 400 miles day trip thru lake george over into Vermont today with the pro. Combined highway, country farm roads and even a dirt road that was fairly wash boarded. The fox suspension ate that up. With the manual transmission I find it gets better mileage around the back roads than the highway from 18.5 mpg highway to 24 on the twisty back roads. About to hit 3000 miles since July 28th. The tacoma is so much fun to drive. Keep up the great content!
Awesome video! Just bought a new Tacoma and hearing your enthusiasm and excitement for the truck makes me that much more excited for my new buy. Definitely learned a lot watching your videos. Appreciate you brother
Hey Brian Been watching a lot of your vids as I was researching and searching for a Tacoma of my own I wanted to thank you for the videos you put out on these! Apart from the trucks devilishly good looks, reliability and perfect blend of new tech while still having an old truck feel to it, yourself and ToyotaJeff Reviews are what made these trucks that much more appealing! The way you spoke about these trucks was almost verbatim how I felt about them Anyways, I picked up a 2022 Tacoma MGM DCSB Off-Road this past Monday I’m only 100 miles in but I’m so in love with my truck! Couldn’t see myself in anything other than a Tacoma I hope to keep the truck as long as I live, and from what I’ve seen, this truck might even be around long after I’m not Cheers!
Hey Alex thank you so much! Your comment made my night! I am honored to be mentioned in the same comment as Toyota Jeff! I am also honored to have helped you go in that direction! You know what I love about MGM? When the direct sun hits it, that dark double metallic grey, brightens up so bright it looks like a metallic great white shark. It sheens in such a way that all other colors must envy. But congrats! Be tasteful with your mods and accessories! I can’t wait to hear more about how you’re enjoying your truck as time goes on. I remember my first 100 miles! I still can’t believe it has 21k already! Cheers
@@brianruperti I’ll be sure to keep you updated! I definitely love the MGM, it’s classic, I just felt it would age well over time I’ll be sure to keep my mods tasteful haha Keep putting out awesome content 👍🏻 -Alex
Just got a Taco 2021 and mine is fully loaded. What l love about it is the sport package. It’s a woodland addition. The logo is a OD green and above the logo on the door has a woodland tree sticker above it. It’s a black metallic blue flake crazy color.❤️ When the dealer pulled this truck around all I thought about was “How to train your dragon” it looks just like that Pixar movie dragon. 😎
My 2023 Tacoma Trail Special Edition will be here is a couple of weeks and I can't wait. Great in depth look at the functions of this truck. Thank you for posting this.
You did it at the right time. I'm on my 4th truck - buying selling trading during all this craziness... but I'm hunkering down in the Tacoma as the market starts to tank.
I've got a 2016 TRD Sport. When I first got the truck the transmission hunted for the right gear. A few months after I got it, the dealer did a transmission reboot. The difference was night and day. I've got 95K+ miles on it and still love it.
We got "amazing drivers" in my area too. 😅😅😅 I have a 2006 Tacoma 4x4, with 110K miles. I love it and kept it, because I purchased a 2022 tundra platinum. Can't complain. Love Toyotas, they never let me down.
Such a nice truck! I'm going for a Tacoma when I upgrade! You put such great effort into keeping it clean and well maintained and I can see it! Also, I thought I was the only one who still knocks off the dirt on my shoes every time before I step into my car! Awhile ago when I had a classmate come along I told him to "knock off the dirt", and he proceeded to knock his shoes against the door sill. I was pissed.
Bought this exact army green model I’m 2nd owner. 2,000 miles so far love this truck on the highway and is smooth in town as well. Many compliments from my buddies too. Great long term insight from this video!
Chemical Guys Natural Shine will cover up the scratches on the interior plastic and prevent new ones. I've had two Tacomas and scuffs from shoes scraping the bottoms of the doors drove me crazy. This product solved the problem and actually looks really good-not that cheesy wet look.
I just picked mine up this past Tuesday, been years since I’ve been wanting one so I finally pulled the trigger on a grey magnetic grey trd off road. It’s beautiful 😍
Traded my 19 tacoma in on Monday for a 2022 army green Tacoma. As far as the SEATBELT in my 2019 I bought Velcro Strips and used the fuzzy side so when the seatbelt blows against the plastic it didn't make any sound $5 FIX & worked perfect
Watching this vid, is making me want to go get a Tacoma… but I love my ‘21 Tundra just as much and can’t seem myself parting from it. I’m the type of owner who parks far and turns around as many times as possible to look at it while I walk away ❤
@@brianruperti Hey! Just an FYI, my Tundra whenever I ride with my windows down, the belt also does hit the plastic, like banging it, so, it is a Toyota truck thing? Lol. Its a 2021 Toyota Tundra SR5 2x4. I baby that thing. So far I’ve only modified exhaust (flowmaster super 10 series) and ceramic coat every year. It’s amazing! Hopefully by the end of this year i want to add front leveling kit and 33’s tires. Keeping it stock as mych as possible ❤️
Felt connected when you said: “when I saw that green at the dealership, I had to have it” Back in 2022, 30th of April I bought my daily Tacoma TRD Sport 4x4 in that Army Green and when I saw the truck, took a quick picture and said: “I need this truck today!” 😂
Ok this is a guy’s love affair with a truck! I’m not a green guy but i must say it is perfect on this Taco. I’m ex-military and get it, might just be my favourite colour now on a Taco. Loved this review, different then most but in a really good way. Admire your patience on the mods. Thanks for sharing!
I’ve seen a lot of Tacomas but I have to say yours by far is the best looking one I’ve Seen! The Army Green with the TRD OR package is perfect together!
Hello Brian. I just finished watching this video and another one that you have on a Silver TRD O/R. I’m doing some research on the 3rd gens and plan to buy a 2023, being the last 3rd Gen year. I currently have a 2015 TRD O/R. Let me tell you I REALLY ENJOY your videos. Informative. Direct. No crazy music. Just honest observations and facts. A pleasure to watch. I saw you mention a video on Key Fobs. I will be watching that one next. I’m not familiar with them the PSB system. Some people like them and some don’t I guess. Well. Thank you for making these videos. I just finished subscribing.
Hey Petros thanks for watching and for the support! Yes I like to keep things simple because that’s what I enjoy when I watch RUclips 🙏🏼 2023 will be a sweet year for Tacoma! Some color changes! Yes be sure to check out the keyfob video it’s in the description or comment section. Thanks again for watching!
Great review... I have the 2021 TRD Sport so I have the cool hood scoop, better JBL Sound and leather and the heavier sprung suspension makes the ride on the freeway amazing... rides better than most cars Ive had....lol. Im still loving mine 14 months after I bought it.... look forward to more content..
I just learned a built-in fix for those rattling seatbelts. Behind the seatbelt strap is a flat clip that the strap slides into. No more annoying rattling on rough roads or when driving with the windows down. Hope this helps.
Hello Brian! I’ve really enjoyed watching your vid! I just found a 22 trd off road with 21k miles for $39k! I’m thinking about getting it, but I’m hesitant about a $740 payment! Anyway thanks for the vid!
Awesome video man! Actually helped me decide to get a Tacoma myself! One thing you need for that dash cam is the Dongar Technologies dash cam adapter! It plugs right in the back of your rear view mirror and you can get rid of that dangling cable. It was one of the best things I got for my Tacoma so far.
Good stuff. I can live with anything, so I got no gripes yet at this point. Just turned over 5k mi on the ‘22. Got a SR5 double cab, shot bed in Barcelona red. No options whatsoever haha. Just all season floor mats haha. Coming from a wrx, so the truck exp is awesome so far
Thanks for this excellent video. You’re keeping it real, and you offer a lot of good insights. I recently bought a ‘22 that is practically brand new, and now I’m learning everything about it. You clearly love your truck. That is cool.
Hi Brian, thank you soooo much for the in-depth review, loved hearing about the truck on long trips with passengers in the back, kinda lets me know what to expect..I’m buying a 23 TRD/O.R., 6’ bed 4dr, very well appointed, tomorrow! It has 29,000, white, I LOVE how it looks, and I’m looking forward to more vids from you, about to watch the remote fob vid.. thanks and keep’em coming, sub’d.
Great review. MGM, Army Green, and Barcelona Red where the colors I was looking for. Ended up with MGM. With the Ram bringing back the Dakota and Chevy upping the ante, It will be interesting to see what Toyota does. I've had my 22 Tacoma TRD Sport 4x4 DCSB since April and just had the 5K mile service done. Aside from the rear child seat anchors ( that as far as I know I have no use for) NOT ONE issue so far. I agree with you on the rear vents. It gets hot back there. My friends and I drove out to Gettysburg PA from the Jersey shore and the truck did fine. I've pulled my 74 VW Beetle on a trailer and it didn't give one hiccup. Even my 68 year old mother loves it. She has a 2016 Camry that she says in boring compared to the Tacoma. The only thing I have to learn is that it's not my 2017 Jetta GLi (that Mom and my girlfriend hated "SLOW THE HELL DOWN") that I replaced with this. I can't take corners with it like I did with that car. It DOES NOT like that.
Nice truck! Great feedback that’s so good to hear :-) Yea the Tacoma is very lovable by all. The TNGA will do very well. Yes I know the feeling. I owned a 2001 GTI VR6. That car was insane.
Just looking at you shaking those sandals before you got inside your truck, I know you take care of your truck really good. I sold my Tundra when the gas was about $6+/g. I'm waiting for the next generation Tacoma with a little more interial space. If Toyota stops offering the V6 then I have to settle for 2023. The interial space (especially the back seats) is the only reason that hold me back from buying one right now. I drove the Tundra for 6 yrs and got used its roomy and comfortable interial.
Just went to Toyota of johnson city in northeast Tennessee. Drove a tundra SR5 so pkf truck ans ir was a smooth ride. But I also drive a used Tacoma TDR OR and lived hiw it rode. So the deerskin found me a magnetic gray metallic colored one at a dealer in Georgia. Rhey called me back lady night and said that dealer agreed to swap out a black colored TRD OR truck from their lot. So in 2 more weeks I will be picking up my Tacoma. I am excited as I havw been driving a F150 STX 4x2 model truck for the past 15 years. Tired of only getting around 12/13 mpg. Also looking forward to onxeagain owning a 4x4 truck. Living in Northeast Tennessee about 30 to 40 miles away from the holstom mountains and cherokee national forest I am very excited to bw able to take my new 2023 Tacoma TRD OR truck up some of the fire trails and 4x4 trails along the TN and NC state line over by Erwin, TN and up by Hampton and Roan mountain areas.
Hey Brian, really like your review so much, I thought that would be my color tacoma. But where? On 11/ 21 I lucked out and found '21 army green identical to yours except 6 spd manual and Predator step rails. No modes and with 11k. Had to drive 270k to get it. Someone hated the manual in the city traded it back in. I love this color...and all the toyota features you describe. The lines and style. I enjoy it so much! Thanks for an awesome video. Two modes..tailgate prevention..even though it locks and black pull staps and screws, I added to the back seat bottom cushions the holes are already there, now pull up from the center.
Really enjoy your videos! This is the EXACT truck I wanted but unfortunetly army green isnt avaliable in the 23' model, which my dealer says that's what I would be getting due to the backlog...but oh well i'll settle for magnetic grey (or lunar rock) whichever comes first!
Thanks Kurt! I appreciate you! The green is great. I will say magnetic grey and lunar are awesome as well. Both also very nice truck colors. My buddy has the MGM and he absolutely adores it.
Great review, and after 2 weeks of owning my 22 TRD OR 4x4, I agree with much of your review. BTW, gas in CA is $5.40, so wish I was getting a bit better, but I'm coming from an F150 FX4 that got 12/13.
There are rear vents on the double cab 3rd gen Tacomas. They are located under the front driver and passenger seats. They don't have a lot of output volume, but at least give some air when using bi-level mode on your A/C.
I had the choice of a 23 TRD double cab , with the premium and technology pkgs and a 6’ bed or an identical 24 TRD. The 23 belonged to the dealership as a loaner pickup with 6K miles. I chose the 23 because of the proven reliability and durability of the 3.5L Naturally Aspirated (NA) V6 engine. Historically the Turbo simply won’t last as long as a NA engine. Now that I’m retired I drive about 5-6K miles per year. I plan on driving my Tacoma until I can no longer drive or I’m dead. I bought my first Toyota in 83, (it was a 78). It had 70K miles on it and I needed a college car. I bought it off of my sister who used it as her college car as well. I paid her $500 for it. It was a bare bones Corolla. Vinyl seats and flooring. 4cyl, 4spd manual transmission. No pwr steering, no rear defrost, an AM radio with 1 speaker in the middle of the dashboard. It got me well past Grad school and died in 02 with 488K miles. I had over 400K on my last Toyota truck when I sold it. It still ran, but was burning a LOT of oil. So because of the amount of trouble free miles I’ve put on my Toyota Corolla, Camry, Rav 4WD and trucks, that’s why I chose to buy my 23.
Been waiting for this video to drop! Good stuff. I got the same 2021 green one used with 25k miles…but has the bigger OffRoad tires + tech package. I can’t for the life of me get “Green Bean” (what I named her) above 17mpg avg! Maybe its the tires…. That said, I knew goin in its a gas guzzler. Installed 2 steel bars on bed and painted them matte black. Super cool. And with kayak mount it’s sooo useful. Looks great with the bars and kayak I wish i could attach picture here. Such a beauty. I have to test out the windows down+seatbelt flapping. Taken off-roading a bit and lots of boating/camping adventures in the bush already. Looking fwd to your off-roading vid. That is still a space I am learning. I think next upgrade will be the truck bed rubber mat. Cheers man you make the best review vids!
Nice truck! The tires prob doing that to the mpg. Nice to hear it being used well! Rubber mat will make you very happy. Thanks for the support and for watching! 🙏🏼
On my 4th Tacoma in 20 yrs. Love my 23 off road edition. Great review I agree with you. I'm also from the salt belt of NY . Looking forward to putting 300,000+ on this one as well as the others.
Thanks for a great honest review, your truck looks awesome. I had a 2016 sr5 axcess cab nice truck but got a little frustrated with the Atkinson motor and trans searching for the best mileage. After 2 years went to a 17 Tundra sr nice truck for 2 years now drove a 21 TRD Sport super nice truck. Stay safe out there and keep the videos coming. All the Best to you
I like the wheels too ! I like my 4Runner off-road premium wheels as well. Same silver machined finish with paint. Not all silver...that would not look as good for sure. I did change the tires to Pirelli ATplus and am loving those. Quiet, grippy, look good.. should be great in snow and again i will say quiet ! Also added rock sliders from RSG. You have A Super-nice truck Brian.. keep it for many years for sure ! I also did undercoating film ( Blaster-Surface sheild ) after your video on FF.. thanks again for that !!
Yes I agree! And those sound like some nice tires 🤔 I’ll have to check them out. I plan to keep it for now and thank you 🙏🏼 also yes undercoating is a must! Thanks for dropping by with a comment
Now that I have one, haha, I’m seeing them ALL OVER… here in So Cal, white is a very popular color, due to the high heat..I’m also noticing quite a few gen 2’s
Great review, Brian! I have a '22 Tacoma TRD, so I can appreciate how much you like your truck. I feel the same way. Regarding the rear passenger vents, my '22 Tacoma TRD has rear facing vents under both the driver and passenger seats. I put floor jackers by Desert Does It under the passenger seat to lift it off the floor a little bit (including a 1/2" lift on the rear bolts) and that helps move the air to the rear passenger better. I didn't install the floor jackers on the drivers side because having the power seat I don't feel like I need them. I enjoyed your video and info. Thank you! Jon
Hey thanks for watching! Yea I have the same vents but I wish I had the rear vents like the RAV4 that but your face and chest. But other than that very happy with the truck. Enjoy yours as well!
Thank you! Is this Henry w the FJ from yesterday? If so it was great to talk with you! If it is Pat, nice to meet you also! (I’m assuming Henry from your user name and photo of an FJ)
Regarding upgrades: I have the same army green TRD Off Road. I replaced my front bump stops with Sumo Spring bump stops and what a difference it made in instances where you bottom out the front end. The Sumo Springs smooth out those compressions. Speed bumps in parking lots caused my truck to bottom out hard on the hard rubber stops (I don’t speed thru parking lots). The Sumo Springs (blue) won’t disappoint.
The Tacoma is a great truck if your not looking for anything fancy, that’s tough and reliable. There are much more powerful options(that’s how it’s always been with tacomas/ Toyotas in general) but it is a good truck and is very capable off-road.
Yes, yes, and YES! Definitely Army Green! No TNGA! This body style is preferred by me! I think maybe I would prefer a sunroof as I’ve had cars with sunroofs for years! I wouldn’t nec😢want a Limited model Tacoma. The way yours is outfitted is more than sufficient! What is your opinion of the 2.7 Liter 4 cylinder? I don’t think I would “off road” myself. I would agree with rear seat air vents. This generation of Tacoma is really about the best. Emphasis on “about”! I’ve heard many good things about the 4 Liter V6 and the 5 speed automatic as being pretty dependable and reliable as well. Just my thoughts. Your comments are always welcome and appreciated! Have an awesome weekend! Stay Blessed as well! Mark in Iowa.
Sunroofs are def cool! Thank you for watching! I think the 4cyl is weak and cheap. For the wood choppers that like 4x2 it fits. For me I like power. But maybe you’re just hauling food for a restaurant and don’t need the 6 cyl. They each shine in their own way. The 4Runners drive very nicely. The 4.0L is very smooth. I hope you have a great weekend too and many blessings! Always great to see you here!
Love the review. I own a 2018 subaru wrx and been toying around with going back to a truck, been told to get a tacoma. Been doing research and I am liking them! Will be better for me to get a truck for the roads I have to drive on sometimes for work, I'll miss the gas mileage from the wrx but I think I'm going to pull the trigger and get a tacoma trd offroad
Thank you for the tips and ideas. I just bought a 2021 Tacoma OR 6.5 bed. My first OR truck, so I need to learn how to drive this beast OR. I hope you have a tutorial. BTW I had my truck tuned.
Very nice truck! I have a 2018 Tundra Limited 4x4 Crew Max, fits our needs and family perfectly for rv towing and road trips. That said I miss having a smaller truck for a daily and if I had extra cash for a truck it would be a Tacoma TRD Off Road or Limited with a nice topper.
Had to watch this video again. After much research, this video reassured me that I was making the right decision to buy a 2023 TRD Off Road. Army Green or Lunar Rock were my two choices in color and once the model I was looking for in Lunar Rock was in inventory at the dealership I shot over there and bought it. That was this past January and I have not regrets. Thank you for your detailed review. To this day the Tacomas are selling as soon as they arrive at the dealerships. I have to agree with everything you said about the truck. I am considering the 2/1 TRD Lift by the dealership and was wondering what your thoughts are on it. I have mine set up for some mild overlanding with roof and bed racks with a rooftop tent and the little extra clearance would have been helpful the half dozen trips I have taken so far. Also hoping the upgraded shocks will help with the extra load I am carrying.
Hey thanks for tuning in again! Lunar rock is a great color. I think the TRD lift is a great option because it’s made for our truck. I opted out for the sake of preserving reliability. But during my rock crawling I wish I had it 😅
Great video. Thanks. I missed a 2022 Army Green at a local highly-regarded used vehicle dealer last week. I’ll keep looking. The usual black or gray don’t work for me.
Thanks Brian very helpful I just got a 2023 Tacoma cheapie SR5 4x2 4c so I hope I welcome to be here lol but seriously very good video I hear and see the passion you have for Toyota which is cool I wish I had driven to NY to buy it from you after watching a few of your vids tbh I'll actually be in the diamond district tomorrow 3/28 which dealership are you at ? - lastly you mentioned a huge Toyota community, chat rooms or whatever would you please give me links of the best ones so I could join and start asking some questions- this is my first ever Toyota
Hey congrats! I am honored by your comments on buying from me. I’m up at Johnston’s. I recommend Tacoma world forums but lightly because forums have a lot of negativity mixed with great Knowlege. Don’t fall for the pessimism. Enjoy!
Yes I have the 2021 TRD sport 2wd...I live in Florida so don't need the 4wd...I love it with 51K miles....I agree with everything you said....Great Truck...
Great video. When you summarize your thoughts I can’t help but think how the current Frontier might be the last remaining true mid size truck. Now that we know the TNGA Tacoma specs I’m interested in your opinion on the 2024 Tacoma.
Thank you! It’s tough to say about the 24 because I always prefer to see and feel the machine before I judge. But sight unseen here are my thoughts so far: 1.)It looks cool 2.)It will shift better and handle better 3.)it will require more maintenance 4.)it will be offensively expensive 5.) it’s another way manufacturers are creeping up the cost to play 6.) the work truck version is better (folding seat stuff) 7.) the trail hunter has sweet options/specs (took Toyota long enough to start offering 3rd party options that actually make sense. They finally understand the accessory game). 8.) they made a HUGE mistake not keeping army green. 9.) people will judge it at first for being turbo 4cyl, but will respect it in short order. (Just like Tundra) 10.) after this, small simple trucks will be a thing of the past, and Nissan will scramble to have crumbs in the market share, as truck buyers are spending record high amounts on trucks, and the demand for bare bones trucks is at an all time low. The times have changed. People have normalized the $50k midsize truck and the $65-70k full-size truck. Just 3 years ago a midsize was normally $38k and full-size $46k. More tech, higher price, more stuff to break, yet people scream for bigger screens, more sensors, more comfort, more automatic stuff. It’s an upward $piral! But with all that said, I think Toyota brought it to the table, and as of now I feel kind of proud of them. It looks bada**!!! But I must see and drive it. 😎
Good review! 🖖 I don’t know why people get worked up about the shifting, mines a 2019 Trd 6 foot bed. What I do is just use the manual shifters when going down a hill, that way you don’t have to ride the brakes. When it comes to going up hills I like to use the Ecomode, seems to give more power and some people say they always just leave it on. Too bad there’s not a way to do this without resetting it every time you drive. As far as lifts go, I wouldn’t do it. Not only do you void the warranty, you change the driveshaft balance, which some say that you need to replace it for a custom built one. I have airbags in the back, which makes it ride so smooth, like butter! 🤙😝 I also use E rated tires, which are Falken peaks! I drive through the snow with no worries! I also like the 6 foot bed because I can haul almost anything and put a camper on the back.
@@brianruperti Oh I forgot to mention that my Tacoma bed being 6 feet long, gives the cab a much bigger feel than the standard Tacoma. I have at least 6 inches above my head, and I’m 6 foot two. I’t might also have to do with the fact that mine is some kind of sport crossover - not a direct sport, because mine is a TRD. Anyway most people who are tall always complain about the low roof, this model is a godsend! 🤙
listening to this i am thankful i dont have whatever ocd this guy has. must be hard to live like that. awesome truck though. my dream vehicle for sure. looks badass af.

Nice!
That’s awesome!
Finally a proper owner review and long term ownership at that.
Thank you! 🙏🏼
You can tell how much this man loves his truck and also has a OCD to keep it nice and clean, just like me !
😆
Install the Overland Torque Tune (OTT) and your torque will come on at 2K RPM until redline. The OTT will STOP your transmission from “hunting” for the right gear
I LOVE THIS GUY , His Videos are awesome !!! He is so laid back, with that cool, calm, well spoken voice ... So, detailed ! Keep up the good work bro.
Thank you so much your kind words made my day 🙏🏼
Just took delivery of my 2022 TRD OFF-ROAD in white. I’M IN LOVE!!! ❤
Congrats!!! Check the pic I just posted of a white one!
So did I!!! 22 TRD OR 4x4 automatic, tech pkg, 29,000 miles, LOVE IT
Thank you for this channel. I appreciate that you have a focus and are knowledgeable. Surely other viewers also appreciate. There are some RUclips creators with 20 times the view count, but they cover so many cars that their Tacoma/4Runner videos are basically useless, because they aren't knowledgeable.
I appreciate that! This comment made my day :-)
I only get to drive my 23 OR on weekends, because I’m gone during the week, watching your vids, makes me miss my Tacoma even more!!! Absolutely love these trucks. Thanks Brian
Thanks for watching!
Nice thanks for sharing with us
23’ off road premium in lunar rock here.
Nice truck I love the lunar rock especially pics of it down in the canyons!
Thanks for watching! My 4 year review is coming soon
That's a great looking truck. I just bought a 2023 at auction. Very happy with it so far.
Thank you. Congrats!
I saw one of these at a local dealership. I've never been a truck person, but the style looked nice. So I found this review. Great job going over it all. It looks even better now.
Thanks for watching!
Just got the 2020 off-road and these videos have been very helpful, as I’m a bit of a novice with features, etc. Also just nice to confirm the satisfaction that I suspect I too will have years from now. Thanks man!
Congrats!
That sounds like such a great time! I went out that way in April it was a blast. Ya fox shocks are great. Thanks for watching!
Awesome video! Just bought a new Tacoma and hearing your enthusiasm and excitement for the truck makes me that much more excited for my new buy. Definitely learned a lot watching your videos. Appreciate you brother
Thanks for watching! Congrats on your new truck! More content to come 😎
Hey Brian
Been watching a lot of your vids as I was researching and searching for a Tacoma of my own
I wanted to thank you for the videos you put out on these!
Apart from the trucks devilishly good looks, reliability and perfect blend of new tech while still having an old truck feel to it, yourself and ToyotaJeff Reviews are what made these trucks that much more appealing!
The way you spoke about these trucks was almost verbatim how I felt about them
Anyways, I picked up a 2022 Tacoma MGM DCSB Off-Road this past Monday I’m only 100 miles in but I’m so in love with my truck!
Couldn’t see myself in anything other than a Tacoma
I hope to keep the truck as long as I live, and from what I’ve seen, this truck might even be around long after I’m not
Cheers!
Cheers
@@brianruperti
I’ll be sure to keep you updated!
I definitely love the MGM, it’s classic, I just felt it would age well over time
I’ll be sure to keep my mods tasteful haha
Keep putting out awesome content 👍🏻

@@alex_rodriguez777 yes indeed and will do thank you always 🙏🏼
Just got a Taco 2021 and mine is fully loaded. What l love about it is the sport package. It’s a woodland addition. The logo is a OD green and above the logo on the door has a woodland tree sticker above it. It’s a black metallic blue flake crazy color.❤️
When the dealer pulled this truck around all I thought about was “How to train your dragon” it looks just like that Pixar movie dragon. 😎

My 2023 Tacoma Trail Special Edition will be here is a couple of weeks and I can't wait. Great in depth look at the functions of this truck. Thank you for posting this.
Congrats! That’s a great rig you secured. Thanks for watching
You did it at the right time. I'm on my 4th truck - buying selling trading during all this craziness... but I'm hunkering down in the Tacoma as the market starts to tank.
Yup staying in mine for a while I love my color
I've got a 2016 TRD Sport. When I first got the truck the transmission hunted for the right gear. A few months after I got it, the dealer did a transmission reboot. The difference was night and day. I've got 95K+ miles on it and still love it.
Nice!!!
That would probably be the TSB update that comes out for these trucks. A KD Max Tune also helps out a lot too!
We got "amazing drivers" in my area too. 😅😅😅
I have a 2006 Tacoma 4x4, with 110K miles. I love it and kept it, because I purchased a 2022 tundra platinum. Can't complain. Love Toyotas, they never let me down.
Yes love the amazing drivers. Congrats on the truck!
Beautiful Truck Man. Nice owners review. I don’t own a truck but, if I ever need one, the Taco is the one I’d buy.
Thank you Alex nice to see you in the comments again and thanks for watching 🙏🏼
Such a nice truck! I'm going for a Tacoma when I upgrade! You put such great effort into keeping it clean and well maintained and I can see it! Also, I thought I was the only one who still knocks off the dirt on my shoes every time before I step into my car! Awhile ago when I had a classmate come along I told him to "knock off the dirt", and he proceeded to knock his shoes against the door sill. I was pissed.
Thank you! Yes I always take care of my property. It’s just how I was raised.
Or when someone slams the door like it’s a jeep. 😅😅
Bought this exact army green model I’m 2nd owner. 2,000 miles so far love this truck on the highway and is smooth in town as well. Many compliments from my buddies too.
Great long term insight from this video!
Thank you!
Chemical Guys Natural Shine will cover up the scratches on the interior plastic and prevent new ones. I've had two Tacomas and scuffs from shoes scraping the bottoms of the doors drove me crazy. This product solved the problem and actually looks really good-not that cheesy wet look.
Thank you for this!!
I just bought a silver tacoma off road and been enjoying watching your videos. Very enjoyable and informative. Thanks
Congrats! Thanks for watching plz consider subscribing 😎
@@brianruperti I did! Keep the tacoma videos coming. Mine is a 2021 also
Thanks!! Will do 🙏🏼
I just picked mine up this past Tuesday, been years since I’ve been wanting one so I finally pulled the trigger on a grey magnetic grey trd off road. It’s beautiful 😍
Congrats! I love the grey
My 2021 cement TRD OR just turned 2 yrs old last week. Just over 9k miles. Love it.
Nice!
Thanks for this tip! 🙏🏼
Watching this vid, is making me want to go get a Tacoma… but I love my ‘21 Tundra just as much and can’t seem myself parting from it. I’m the type of owner who parks far and turns around as many times as possible to look at it while I walk away ❤
I’m flattered! What grade and color tundra do you have?
@@brianruperti Hey! Just an FYI, my Tundra whenever I ride with my windows down, the belt also does hit the plastic, like banging it, so, it is a Toyota truck thing? Lol. Its a 2021 Toyota Tundra SR5 2x4. I baby that thing. So far I’ve only modified exhaust (flowmaster super 10 series) and ceramic coat every year. It’s amazing! Hopefully by the end of this year i want to add front leveling kit and 33’s tires. Keeping it stock as mych as possible ❤️
Must be. Nice setup you have
Felt connected when you said: “when I saw that green at the dealership, I had to have it”
Back in 2022, 30th of April I bought my daily Tacoma TRD Sport 4x4 in that Army Green and when I saw the truck, took a quick picture and said: “I need this truck today!” 😂
Color makes me crazy!
Sold me. Love your passion. Cheers
Awesome! Thank you!
Hey thanks for watching and for the kind words. And for your service!
I’ve seen a lot of Tacomas but I have to say yours by far is the best looking one I’ve Seen! The Army Green with the TRD OR package is perfect together!
Thanks so much!

Your Tacoma is awesome, especially the color. About to get one from 2019-2023 model. Thanks for sharing your review.
Thanks! You’ll love it
Hello Brian.
Yes I like to keep things simple because that’s what I enjoy when I watch RUclips 🙏🏼
2023 will be a sweet year for Tacoma!
Nice thanks for sharing and for the support!
I just learned a built-in fix for those rattling seatbelts. Behind the seatbelt strap is a flat clip that the strap slides into. No more annoying rattling on rough roads or when driving with the windows down. Hope this helps.
This
Yes that’s for the back buckles but my front passenger buckle rattles and I don’t have a clip for it.
@@brianruperti you just gotta pull it down then flatten it up so that way it stays away from your panel.
Hello Brian! I’ve really enjoyed watching your vid! I just found a 22 trd off road with 21k miles for $39k! I’m thinking about getting it, but I’m hesitant about a $740 payment! Anyway thanks for the vid!
Thanks for watching!
Great guesses on the 4cyl and turbo
Thanks
I love the way you explain things. Simply articulate and interesting to hear. Good job!
Glad you liked it! Thanks for watching
Hey Brian, really enjoyed your honesty and enthusiasm around your Tacoma. Look forward to your next video.

Great review !! Excellent looking truck. I just got the 2022 SR5 double cab in white.
Thanks! Big congrats! SR5s are awesome 👌🏼
Nice video. I just got the same exact truck and love it. Always puts a smile on my face.
Congrats! They’re a ton of fun
Thanks for watching and for the tip
Thanks for watching and nice upgrade!
Thanks for this excellent video. You’re keeping it real, and you offer a lot of good insights. I recently bought a ‘22 that is practically brand new, and now I’m learning everything about it.
You clearly love your truck. That is cool.
Right on thanks for watching!
Hey thanks for watching! Youll love that truck. And welcome to the channel 😎
Nice truck! Great feedback that’s so good to hear :-)
Yea the Tacoma is very lovable by all. The TNGA will do very well. Yes I know the feeling. I owned a 2001 GTI VR6. That car was insane.
Great review Brian, I appreciate your detail. And yes on the seatbelt in my Tacoma with the windows down.
Thanks for watching!
you and I have the same color truck... I too kept mine stock..!
😎👌🏼
Great review man, you explain details very well....I have the 2022 Tacoma 2.7... so far so good 👍🏽😊
Thank you!! 🙏🏼 nice truck! 4cyl for the win!
Yes I take care of it as much as I can. There’s a 90% chance the V6 is going away. But we shall see!
Great video I just got my Tacoma two days ago and I love it.
Thanks and congrats! Which color and trim did you pick?
@@brianruperti thanks! Metallic Black - TRD Off Road
@06van beautiful beautiful truck
Had to drive
270k to get it.
Nice! Thanks for watching and yes so glad you love the green! Great mods by the way
Really enjoy your videos!
You could always do a wrap!
Really great review enjoyed
Thanks so much!
One nice ride! Thanks for all of the great info!
Thanks for watching!
Great review, and after 2 weeks of owning my 22 TRD OR 4x4, I agree with much of your review. BTW, gas in CA is $5.40, so wish I was getting a bit better, but I'm coming from an F150 FX4 that got 12/13.
Congrats!! Thanks for watching. Why is it so high???
@@brianrupertibecause he’s from CA. Lol
Great review. You picked a great location too.

All the Best to you
Thank you! I appreciate you watching and yes I totally understand
Very cool
All windows down especially with the rear window and sunroof is amazing but that seatbelt does go crazy
It’s wild lol
Nice truck, Brian. Nice meeting you, too.
I love the green too. When I had an FJ I wanted the green one when it came out. When I was looking at 4Runners, I liked the green Pro.
Nice!! But do I trade it for a black manual trans?
Great video man! I'm picking up mine on Friday! Identical to yours, but with the leather interior and such. Cheers from Victoria BC 🍁
Thanks! Big congrats! Nice truck. Enjoy it!!
The Tacoma is a great truck if your not looking for anything fancy, that’s tough and reliable. There are much more powerful options(that’s how it’s always been with tacomas/ Toyotas in general) but it is a good truck and is very capable off-road.
💯truth spoken today!
Love that Army Green so much
Thanks!!
That green is beautiful.
Thank you 🙏🏼
Love the review.
Thanks for watching! The ladies, kids, and dogs love trucks 😉. But it’s what YOU like that matters. Drive one and see!
Thanks for clarifying about transmission situation
Yes I like it, alot actually. Especially the color. I presently own a 2015 Tacoma and will trade it in if I find one just like this.
Nice! Thanks for watching you’ll want to move quick because Army green is discontinued for 2023
Thank you for the tips and ideas. I just bought a 2021 Tacoma OR 6.5 bed. My first OR truck, so I need to learn how to drive this beast OR. I hope you have a tutorial. BTW I had my truck tuned.
What tuning did ya do?
Very nice truck! I have a 2018 Tundra Limited 4x4 Crew Max, fits our needs and family perfectly for rv towing and road trips. That said I miss having a smaller truck for a daily and if I had extra cash for a truck it would be a Tacoma TRD Off Road or Limited with a nice topper.
Thanks! I love the crewmax and limited is sweet!
Thank you. The green is worth the search
Enjoy!
Love that color man
I can’t believe they don’t have it as an option now

Yes I have the 2021 TRD sport 2wd...I live in Florida so don't need the 4wd...I love it with 51K miles....I agree with everything you said....Great Truck...
Nice truck thanks for watching!
One of my neighbors has one of these with a long bed and man it’s a mean looking truck.
💪🏼
These trucks really shines with the manual transmission
Yes they’re fun. Auto was best for me this purchase though!
But sight unseen here are my thoughts so far:
1.)It looks cool
2.)It will shift better and handle better
3.)it will require more maintenance
4.)it will be offensively expensive
5.) it’s another way manufacturers are creeping up the cost to play
6.) the work truck version is better (folding seat stuff)
7.) the trail hunter has sweet options/specs (took Toyota long enough to start offering 3rd party options that actually make sense. They finally understand the accessory game).
8.) they made a HUGE mistake not keeping army green.
9.) people will judge it at first for being turbo 4cyl, but will respect it in short order. (Just like Tundra)
10.) after this, small simple trucks will be a thing of the past, and Nissan will scramble to have crumbs in the market share, as truck buyers are spending record high amounts on trucks, and the demand for bare bones trucks is at an all time low.
yeah, that green is gorgeous
Thank you 🙏🏼
Good review! 🖖
I don’t know why people get worked up about the shifting, mines a 2019 Trd 6 foot bed.
I also use E rated tires, which are Falken peaks! I drive through the snow with no worries! I also like the 6 foot bed because I can haul almost anything and put a camper on the back.
Thanks for watching! I agree. People can be funny that’s for sure. Air bags nice! And yes the 6ft bed is great for the haulers 😎
Btw I’ve heard a lot of good things about those tires

Oh I forgot to mention that my Tacoma bed being 6 feet long, gives the cab a much bigger feel than the standard Tacoma.
My dream truck too that’s why I clean it a lot! Especially after off-roading 🧽💦
