I'm just amazed at how articulate Knox is. Kudos to the parents for your training and enjoy the country. 😊
Aww thanks so much! He’s such a special kid. It’s funny because when Knox was little, he didn’t talk much. But as he got older, we wouldn’t stop. I love it!🤣😂
@@MomDuty your kids are gems. I noticed that he doesn't settle for the usual descriptives like "delicious" or "tastes nice." He really looks to express how unique and delightful the flavors are. Again, props to the parents. 👏
That is so cool of you to notice! I just took a screenshot of our conversation and will show Knox when he wakes up. Honestly again, thank you so much for taking the time to comment and say something special about my lil man🙏I appreciate it Gavin!🥹
I was really impressed with the tour guide. He is great at explaining about the history of the Philippines and the food.
We agree! Jian is awesome! So knowledgeable and so passionate🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭
@@MomDuty how can we contact him when we visit? we would like to do a food tour too. Thanks
Your tour guide Jian is the “cherry on top”….he is extremely good. I believe you have the best Binondo China town tour ever full of history and storytelling and it’s just Part 1…..can’t wait for Part 2…take care!
Thank you Jorge!!!! Yes I totally agree, Jian is the “cherry on top.” What a great way to put it. Not only is he knowledgeable but has a passion for his country and especially food. He’s such a nice person. That’s why we used him for Part 2 Manila Street food. We posted it already👍Let us know what you think. Kids got to try assorted bbq meat sticks for the first time🤪🤤
Your son is so smart and mature for his age. He expresses his opinion articulately. Another blogger in the making.😀
Oh my goodness! Well thank you so much for the positive feedback. Knox loves food and he loves talking☺️Sometimes he gets shy but once he feels comfortable doing something, there’s no stopping him🥰
Wow you kid's voice is so cute, speaks very gently. He looks so gwapo. I like how you do your editing. Be liking your videos from now on.
Thank you so much!!! So nice of you🥹Knox loves food and can talk about it all day.lol. Haha…my gwapo boy🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭
i can only imagine how beautiful of a feeling it must be to show your son where you grew up, as well as feeding him the foods you remmeber eating around his age, this channel and the ABC channel are my favorites!
Awww you are so nice! Thank you for taking the time to watch our episodes. We love the Philippines, even more because this is where my husband was born. His roots🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭
Jian is one of the best your guides. So informative, kind and just plain awesome.
Yes! I totally agree💯 That’s why we asked him to do another food tour with us in Manila. We all had such a great time experiencing street food with him👌
Wohooo! You are in Manila! 💕💕💕 can’t wait for all your Manila vlogs. Soooo happy.
Yesss we made it girl!!!🇵🇭👏🇵🇭👏So happy to finally be here!!!
Salute to Knox >>> such a big appetite for such a young boy! I guess he simply enjoys your food trip!
Hi Freddie!👋 Yes this boy looooves food. In every country we visit, the first thing he wants to do is go on a food tour🤤🤭
@@MomDuty he might be a good food vlogger someday.
I think so too! I keep encouraging him to do that but he said no.lol🤣He said he just LOVES food. Somehow he has this palette where he can taste ingredients in the food he eats. I don’t know how he does it. It’s very impressive👌
@@MomDuty Knox's palate is unbelievable. He's not a glutton, I supposed (pardon my word) HAHAHA As an oldie, a siopao and a drink are enough for a good meal for me.
Lol! You have me laughing over here🤣But yes☝️I agree. Knox’s palette is pretty unique. My husband and I like red wine and when we order a glass Knox will ask us if it’s ‘full-body’ 🙈🤣
Ahh you're in Manila already!!! So lovely for your husband to be back in Philippines? You all tried so much food immediately! It all looks great!!
We made it to the motherland!!!!😭🇵🇭You know the boys wanted to eat food as soon as we arrived🤣I cannot wait to explore Manila and hopefully island hop too!
Ng madiskubre ni asawa mi…instsik ka? Sa Tuazon…pero ng makita ko ang lola niya eh mas mukhang Chinese lol etc…Perez etc😅
Wow i hope you will come back to singapore in 2023 or some time😁i hope i will see you in singapore some day❤️ and have a great time in philippines god bless your family
We somehow always end up in Singapore!🇸🇬🤪I’m sure we’ll see you sooner than later. Yesss! Excited to be in the Philippines🇵🇭🎉Nelvine’s motherland!👏Take care my friend!
Awesome editing Nelvin! It was a great day out with the boys in Binondo!
Can't wait to see the video when the whole family was able to join me for the street food tour! :)
Best family food tour ever!!!! So glad we were able to join you on the 2nd one. Good times, especially how you ended the night😉😛🇵🇭 Thank you for everything Jian! You’re awesome!
My father is a kampapangan from San Luis San Fernando Pampanga but we were raised in Manila, now i am based here in Naga City Camarines Sur Bicol. Kampapangans are great cooks, has special dishes, have their own version of Fresh Lumpia, Sisig, and Kare Kare. Stay safe, enjoy your vacation and God bless.
So nice to meet you! We’re practically family my friend🥹My husband’s family is from San Fernando Pampanga too!!🇵🇭They’re all great cooks. But for some reason this is the first time my kids have tried sisig. They’re obsessed with it!! I even had vegetarian lumpia with chili and cheese. It was soooo good! We’ll thank you for being here! Let me know if you have any island recommendations for us. We want to start island hopping after our Manila trip🇵🇭
I must say Manila Chinatown has the best chinese food in terms of taste and authenticity, at least for me. Been to Japan and LA chinatowns, their chinese food is good but there's just something that's different from the Manila Chinatown. Not sure if others notice that too.
That’s what my husband said too. The food just hit differently here. We’re originally from LA. It’s gotta be the authentic food taste. I mean it is the oldest Chinatown in the world👌🤤🇵🇭
@@MomDuty Because in the Philippines, Chinatown is not just a community for Filipino Chinese; it is a trading hub, so Filipinos there preserve their Chinese cultural values and trades, hence the authenticity of the food there is also preserved over generations.
Very true. Now I understand. The guide mentioned that it’s a trading hub. That’s why there are so many banks and merchandise warehouses.
Because of the combination of Chinese, and a little Filipino and spanish
🥰 Thank you for visiting and trying out our food at MASUKI (The Antigua Mami Resturant in Binondo since 1930) It's always exciting to see when people are introduced to our restaurant, glad to hear you and Knox enjoyed our ASADO SIOPAO and our all around magic sauce. Till your next visit! 🍜
My husband said you have the fluffiest siopao. Can’t wait to visit and bring my daughter. Knox couldn’t stop talking about all your food. We’re still in Manila. So we’ll have to come back and visit🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭
@@MomDuty hello let me know when are you visiting our store again. We also have branches at Greenhills and SM Megamall. I hope to meet you and personally thank you and your family. Best regards and stay safe! God bless! 🥰
maybe i can tell you the story behind our family business-it is now being handled by the 4th generation 🥰
I think SM Megamall is the closer branch to us. Would love to visit in December since we’ll be staying in BGC👍
Would love to hear the story. Sounds inspiring🇵🇭🫶🇵🇭🫶

Wow I flew to California around 8 or 9. New subs here glad to have found your channel.
Nice! Thank you so much for being here my friend!!!🫶Are you from California or Philippines?
Knox is one brave kid. He is not afraid of trying food that is new to his palate.
Nope this kid will try anything. The more of a delicacy it is considered in a country, the more he’s willing to try it. This kid is a foodie!💯🤪 Love how adventurous he is! 😭👦🏻
Your son is game on every food. It’s cool to see him try every food on offer!
Yup! That’s my son. He’s such a foodie. I told him he should be a food critic but he says, ‘no mom, I just love food.’🙈🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
That tour guide is on 🔥🔥
Right? He’s a great guy. Very knowledgeable and not just about food but about the Filipino culture in general🇵🇭
What's up fam! I'm from NorCal/Bay Area. I randomly stumbled across this vlog as soon as I opened RUclips. I am droooooling! LOL! Hoping to go back to the Philippines next year and add about 15lbs. Binondo was a perfect choice to test your palettes. Lots of tasty foods. There's plenty of spots that make Lumpias but one I personally love when I go there is called Globe Lumpia House which is in Quiapo literally next to Binondo. Anyways, enjoy your stay out there. Subbing🤙
Hello Cali neighbor!👋 Nice to meet you! Haha, Knox’s request when we arrive in a new country is to go on a food tour immediately!🤤This kid couldn’t stop talking about Binondo and all the food he ate. He LOVED it! But he also enjoyed Manila street food. Ok looking up Globe Lumpia House. Thank you for the recommendation. Quiapo is not too far from us. We are heading to that area this week. Going to see if we can stop by that Lumpia House. Sounds amazing! Let me know if any other place crosses your mind for us to visit while in Manila.
My wife is originally from that area so she would know a little more than me. My relatives are based out of Batangas and Cavite. With that said I recommended that all of you try Lomi(originally from Batangas) if you can find a legit/authentic restaurant that sells it around Manila. I never recommend eating Lomi at commercialized restaurants. They can never get it right imo. You could probably try Andy's Famous Batangas Lomi located in Quezon City. Traffic's gonna suck either way from your location. If your family decides to ever go south by chance to Batangas or even Tagaytay then I can start throwing out suggestions. If Tagaytay, then go for the Bulalo soup and "Tawilis"(Small deep fried fish you dip in vinegar and can be eaten whole).
Thank you so much for the recommendations my friend! I think my family would love to try Lomi. It’s funny because a lot of places are nearby, it’s just the traffic that takes so long. I really want to go to Tagaytay and see Taal Volcano. Someone else recommended that area. Ahhhh we have so much to do🙈🤣🇵🇭
What a good idea for your son’s name..very original Knox...for naks👍
I think so too! Loved that my husband came up with it. It’s very sweet and meaningful🥹🫶
You hired the best food tour guide ever! He explained everything clearly! Not only the food but also the area. The next time I go back to the Philippines I will visit binondo n check out this video again n visit every food stoll n restaurant that I watched. I Hope I run into ur tour guide 👍👍💯

awesome video content on some of the more common Chinese Filipino street comfort food. you have a beautiful and fun loving family btw and hopefully your daughter feels better. Nox is awesome and upbeat when trying these kinds of foods and snacks. he reminds of another kid in another vlog because of his enthusiasm, cheerfulness and curiosity in trying filipino cuisine. I've seen Gian several times now in different vlogs. he's now become the resident Binondo tour guide i think 😀enjoy your travels and best wishes on your vlogging here and in different places. stay safe always and hope you can visit your hometown. new subscriber from California😊
Hi fellow Californian!!👋🇺🇸 Miss our family back home🥹But being here in the Philippines also feels like home because Nelvine is from here🇵🇭 We’ve only been here a couple of weeks and already have extended our stay.lol. There’s so much to do here. And yes Knox wants to try EVERYTHING! Oh man this kid has been searching for adidas (chicken feet).lol. He’s got a great palate. Aww I’ll let him know you said all these nice comments about him. So nice of you. We want I explore Manila and island hop. So we’re excited! It’s beautiful here during the holidays. Reminds me of all the Christmas lights up in California🫶🎄
@@MomDuty hello my fellow Californian (I and my family are from Fresno btw)! thank you for your reply. yes i hope you have a great and enjoyable time there. i believe your husband is from Pampanga. that province is considered the culinary capital of the Philippines (well for Luzon at least)😀.. you guys will be eating alot of great food there. It's heavily inspired by Spanish cuisine (same as Cebu province in the south/visayas) and Chinese and Malay too. there are alot of vegetarian options (i believe you are one?). common vegetarian dishes (and there lots of them) pi-nak-bet (without any meat or seafood and the fish paste seasoning) and chop suey. Pancit or any of the other noodle variation is another option just without the meat with. yeah Knox is a great kid and very exuberant. he can still eat chicken feet (i personally like them) just look for other good recommended Chinese restaurants there in metro manila. even in Pampanga you can find it there and also the popular si-sig. they also have great tasting lechon and kalderetang kam-bing (goat stew). while you're in Pampanga (central luzon) try to visit the Ba-na-we rice terraces. it's considered one of the nth wonders of the world and a UNESCO heritage site and also Baguio city or Sagada area. it's a few hours drive from Pampanga. btw i thought you have filipino lineage too. are you Hispanic? your name is beautiful just like you! have a nice vacation with your fam and safe travels too. always have bottled water, mosquito repellant, basic toiletries and small first aid kit and cash in handy when you go out. celebrating Christmas is the best there if you can still stay up to the yuletide season. if you have any questions regarding places to visit there - especially in metro manila -don't hesitate to ask. but tbh personally, don't spend too long in Metro Manila. go to the beautiful destinations i mentioned and the awesome beaches and islands in the south asp. you and your hubby and kids will a great time and experience. as the saying goes "IT IS ALWAYS FUN IN THE PHILIPPINES" 😊
You are awesome! Wow! Thank you so much for this wonderful message. And Yeay for Fresno! So cool to be chatting it up with someone else from California. And say hello to your family from us👋Now I know why my husband’s family all cook well, they’re form Pampanga! Wow! The food is mouth-watering🤤Yes, I’m vegetarian but I’ve been able to find tofu sisig, chili/cheese lumpia, vegetarian sinigang and vegetarian pakbet. I still haven’t found vegetarian pancit tho. Thanks for the tips too about bottled water and mosquito repellent. Yes, I love that Knox tries everything. It’s especially great since we travel full-time. He gets to try foods from cultures all around. It’s incredible. I was adopted when I was little so I’m a mix. Mexican, European, Indian. I want to do a 23andMe test. Hopefully we’ll be island hopping soon. So excited to see the beautiful beaches🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭
@@MomDutythat's a very interesting and remarkable background story you have! you're welcome btw and thank you for your very kind words. I'll make sure to tell my family. it's a great and wonderful experience to travel to different places. you learn about the world and yourself. Knox is certainly a manifestation of that even at a young age. regards to your kids and hubby and enjoy your stay! looking forward to your future vlogs. i know they'll be awesome! you guys are just chill, funny and very open to these new experiences! take care always and Godbless!!😊

Ok going to look up Marikina. Is it near Binondo? We’ve been looking for the soup in Manila and we haven’t found it or it’s sold out.

Do you vlog on Manila?
New subscriber here... 🎉🎉
Thank you so much my friend! We appreciate you being here🥹👍
husband speaking - just catching up on past stories - today is 28 Sept. 23. Very interesting video - I was in Manila my first
time in 1979. - not so much traffic but bad enough. For me - NO Chicken Feet, No Bull Balls, nothing from inside any animal.
I can eat raw beef and midnight stew but no insides, just the pork blood on rice. About 35 years ago when I was working at
the Post Office - one Chinese worker heated some chicken feet in the microwave for lunch. When she sat down everyone next
to her moved a couple chairs away. ALSO a sign went up - no heating chicken feet in the microwave.
What im waiting to see is that foreign food vlogger travel vlogger should try the food of people in binondo its called "pagpag"
I just looked up what pagpag is!!?!!!😱😲😲😲

Okay he said the second oldest Chinatown in the world is in San Francisco I wonder if he knows where it is located and/or which one? There’s two …
I read that it was in Union Square near the Financial District. Specifically on Grant Avenue. Does that make sense? Are you from San Francisco?
For sure it’s gotta be the one on Clement Street in Richmond district not the one on Grant/Stockton by Financial
Hi, i enjoyed watching you & your sone taste the different chinese food ! Can you please share contact details of your tour guide knox? & the type of tour you selected ? I really would like to try it our with my wife . 👍
Our guide was awesome!!! Love his passions for the Philippines!🇵🇭His name is Jian. On Instagram, you can DM him @ExploreManilaTours
Those power line needs an update
I didn’t realize they put them up so high because of the floods.
"Naks Naman" could have a condescending connotation to it though!
REALLY?!😳Didn’t know that🙊How so?
try to explore cebu city and cebu province
Yes! We were supposed to go this week but ended up exploring BGC a bit more. But we definitely want to visit Cebu. What do you recommend doing in the city? Food tour or history tour?
I'm sorry that you weren't able to eat the Chicken feet and Soup #5. You can eat chicken feet in almost all Chinese restaurants. Soup #5 is delicious as long as you get over the fact of what your eating.
My son, Knox wants to try adidas and we’ve asked a few places around and we still can’t find it. I didn’t think it would be so hard to find chicken feet🤣We also heard soup #5 is good but the last 2 places that had it, ran out🙈We are on a hunt to look tomorrow again.lol. Do you know any places in Manila?
@@MomDuty Adidas are usually found at barbeque street stalls (which usually also sells isaw (chicken/pork intestines), betamax (chicken blood), etc.) But better if you go to night or weekend markets like Merkato. As for soup#5 try getting the restaurant's number and check up on them if you have the time to go back.
Ok. Thank you so much!!! Will check the Merkato today. And see how we can call restaurants. My phone usually doesn’t call the local numbers here by Nelvine’s cousin lives here. I’ll ask her.👏🇵🇭You’re awesome!!! Thank you for answering my questions!
@@MomDuty Glad to be of some help. Enjoy!
🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

Yummy food Bro seem's to be you are a military because pf your haircut .
No not military🙈🤪
Manila taxi drivers are notorious for rounding off change. You give 1K bill, 670 fare and they will give you 300 instead of 330.
Oh really? I didn’t notice. Probably because I just end up rounding up for them🙈lol☺️Gotta help my people out🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭
❤
I know they are famous for that baby duck in an egg cusines. I don't think I dare to try it
My husband was born in the Philippines and he said as a boy his family would all eat balut as a snack. It’s very popular here🇵🇭

@@MomDuty the first thing is I am 20 years old boy . 👦, and I am from srilanka , we don't celebrate it but I like it, if I want I can celebrate it
Most countries we’ve visited during Halloween don’t celebrate it either. The US celebrates everything!lol🤦♀️😆We missed you in Sri Lanka. Good memories there. Can’t wait to go back. We were there during hard times. Hope you’re all doing well my friend🇱🇰🇱🇰🇱🇰🇱🇰🇱🇰

Kapampangan is a Language :)
So are Ilocano, Pangasinense, Hiligaynon (aka Ilonggo), Waray, Visaya, etc. :)
Languages.
Oh my gosh!🙊I just researched this and you’re right! Guess what I also learned? I read that the Kapampangan language itself has more than 7 dialects. What?! 🙉Thank you for correcting us. I would’ve never know this. I just told my husband and kids. Very interesting👌
@@MomDuty You are welcome. Unfortunately, it was also only recently that I learned about this. Growing up, we were taught that other than Tagalog, all the rest are dialects. Until i read that it was the way of our former colonial masters (America) to "weaken" the nationalism and the local identity of those in the provinces. To control the Philippines easier they made sure to make the country to be Manila-centric (hence Tagalog-centric). Since they did not know the terrain of the provinces, they will surely lose any battle that may arise. Demoting the Languages as mere dialects was a way to keep the rest of the country from being united and proud and protective of our islands. So that efforts to rise up against the US would be quelled.
Wow….it’s absolutely true. Before I met my husband I assumed the same thing. Tagalog was the main language of the Philippines and the rest were dialects. It’s all coming together now that you explain it to me like this. Great for us to know, especially my kids. So thank you for taking the time to teach us. You’re AH-MAZING!🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭
@@MomDuty My pleasure. 🇵🇭
Chinatown streets are upkept than Filipino province & some city areas …

@@MomDuty btw may I ask if you guys try
(Lugaw.palabol.)?
We’ve tried pancit palabok. But is lugaw palabol a soup? Sounds yummy 🤤
@@MomDuty lugay is like a rice soup with egg or sometimes a chicken
Ooooh rice soup sounds soooo good right now🤣You’re making me hungry😛I’ll keep an eye out and see if this served in the Filipino restaurants around here at BGC.
