On this episode of “ Car Payments? Naw , that’s a house payment!”. On the next episode of “ Where’s your dad ?”, if you had a father who had an ounce of common sense ( you wouldn’t be the subject of Anton’s rants ). The average car payment is $700 a month ( some even $1000 a month). Here’s the formula that you use when purchasing a vehicle. #1. How far away is your job ? The further away your job is the more reliable of a vehicle you will need. Over 20 miles. #2 A used vehicle is NEW to you ( new car smell spray can be purchased at any auto parts store). #3 Where is your dad? Find him and apologize for listening to your mother ( because you have a $700 + car payment. #4 Bus drivers are the coolest people on earth ( Especially in Rochester,New York) . Leave the driving to the professionals. Where else can you get chauffeured to work in vehicle that cost over $450,000 . A city bus ride is a perfect first date . ( $1 will let you know what type of females you are dealing with. Hint new minted female immigrants don’t mind riding the bus ! A you don’t need a passport that to your cities “ Sanctuary City “ status of your city. Democrats are like that Gieco commercial “ all way saving you money “ on becoming a Passport Bro !”.

I would have been insulted if they thought I was the type of person to accept either one of those terms. That lease payment was almost $1,000 a month for something that isn't yours and you have give back to the dealer after 3 years. If you can wait till next summer by then, we should see a sizable crash in the auto market. Provided the government doesn’t bail him out again. There's an American that would cherish a cheap unlimited bus pass. Yet, in rural Mississippi there are no busses or public transportation in the entire state. What I'm saying is that location, market constraints, and demand dictate how broke people move. In rural areas, a car is a necessity. "Out of one's means" doesn't apply when there's only one mean.

My main car, a 98 Buick LeSabre Limited has been paid off for years. The maintenance is low because I constantly take care of it and keep it maintained. People always buying new vehicles be killing me, especially after they almost paid off the vehicle they had! To me, it's like having a house. If when you start having issues with your house, which is paid off, do you fix the issues (plumbing, electrical, roof, etc.), or do you sell and buy another house because you're too lazy to do the maintenance? I guess some people haven't learned the hard way yet. 🤦

I can sum up this problem in one sentence. "People are living way above their income level" Stop trying to impress your family, your friends, etc. with your material possessions. I'm almost 80 years old, I'm still in my ''starter" home, I still drive a VW Beetle and you know what? I watch everybody I know, crash and burn with their McMansions they didn't need in the first place, I've watched them trying to impress me with their BMW's or Mercedes. I've had people actually laugh in my face because I'm simply not into material things, never have been. I don't owe anybody a thin dime, haven't had a mortgage in many, many years, no car payments. I've done upgrades on my house, have a nice swimming pool, a beautiful backyard full of trees and flowers I planted. I spend my time on my terrace, listening to my jazz. I've traveled the world. I'm a widow now, worked all my life and I'm financially stable and would be if I lived to be 150 years old. That's a better feeling then a giant house and expensive car. My father told me when I was about 10 years old "Always live within your income, don't try to be somebody that your not, and you'll make it through life just fine." You know what, he was right and if I had it to do over again, I would live the same life.

Some people are really dumb when it comes to buying cars. Just buy a cheaper car in your budget. I make 90k a yr the only debt I have is my car. I didn’t go buy a house 40k car, I bought a 2016 Mazda6 for $11k with one owner and great maintenance records. My payments $210 but I pay $310. It will be paid off in less than 3 years. What do I need a 2024 for? I went to a private owner, got a pre approval from my bank for the amount and it’s done.instead of giving the dealership 2k down I put it towards the principle.

I live in Phillipines parttime , tricycle 30cent / jeepney 30 to 50cents or motorscooter to rent or buy. Rent 2 bedrooms $330 a month 10 min from the beach ⛱️. I don't care what people say about me in the comments I'm really living the American Dream.

Also not to mention that Auto Insurance has increased too. Most people are paying $250-$300 per month on average for car insurance. Ridiculous to say the least

Instead of buying an inexpensive car or a used cheap car some go out and buy that BMW, Audie, Escalade, etc., etc. when all you need is transportation to get from point A to point B. The dealer knows you are a sucker the minute you answer that question of how much you can afford to pay per month. Some don't know how the payments are calculated or that most of the extras offered aren't needed but only pad the pockets of the dealership and increase the monthly. If you can't pay for a car in 4 years or less, it's too expensive. Tip: If you have to buy that car, take your lap top or tablet with you and have your loan calculator ready to put the dealers numbers in. Also read that contract before you sign to insure that the dealer didn't put an additional cost into the contract that you didn't agree to. Take the time and don't be in a hurry to get out of that seat. Once you sign those payments are yours.

Dealers should be required to post actual cost of ownership. For example the total cost if you finance for X amount of years with X amount down on the car sticker.
So instead of a car being 30K on the sticker, the car sticker would show 42K after like 8 years of financing with X amount down and X amount of oil changes. Then folks would see the true cost. Same with purchasing houses.

When I had a car payment I would pay twice to three times over. Eventually I was able to pay my 32k car off in 3 years. I threw everything at it like tax returns, bonuses, etc. 10 years later I still have that same car and have been using the extra money for investments that allowed me to buy my first home years later. Still following the same strategy today for investing. Once you understand how money works like the difference between an asset and liabilities. Then you will see your life change.
