What do the numbers on the diopter ring indicate? Should the ring be adjusted so that that the numbers line up a certain way focused at a particular distance?
The diopter on your binoculars actually doesn't have much to do with distance but has everything to do with focusing one individual side of the binoculars to your eye on that diopter side. Ordinarily the binocular changes the focus of both sides at the same time at the same rate, but either your eyes may have different prescriptions (Very often the case) or after time of wear and tear on the binoculars thy may come out of focus slightly and can be corrected by individually focusing one side. Once it's focused properly where when both eyes are open, both are seeing a perfectly focused image, then use the center focus wheel from there and both eyes should be in focus the whole time.
