    Nah imma fight you on the whole Catwoman part. Selena is did not turn into a life of crime because she has a crush on Batman,she did so because she's facing bankruptcy and has no way to support her lifestyle after her corrupt father went to jail.
    She happens to be inspired by Batman's actions and costume vigilantism,but she twists it for her own personal selfish gain,while Bruce does it out of selflessness to protect Gotham.
    Them liking each other just comes down to them being broken and flawed individuals

    The show largely takes inspiration from how Bill Finger and Bob Kane depicted Batman and Finger & Kane did have Batman wield guns. Not only did Batman wield guns in the Finger & Kane comics, but he also killed people in those comics he may not have liked doing it but he felt it was necessary at times. Finger even wanted Batman to kill Joker in his first appearance because he didn't think that Batman would be an effective hero if he allowed Joker to live. He was treated like a Pulp Hero akin to the Black Bat, the Shadow, and Zorro all of whom used guns and killed people. They didn't like doing it, but they were willing to do it if necessary.
    Yes, it's a beginner Batman that's why he may be sloppy. Also being badass doesn't mean being unbeatable sometimes a hero needs to lose to establish the threat of a villain. In the original BTAS, Harley was the closest villain to killing Batman, Batman had to think fast to save himself from Harley a few times. That didn't make Batman any less badass if Harley tricks him so she can trap him or Harley & Ivy defeat him so the other villains can put Batman on trial. It works to establish the threat of the villain or villains. When the Circus people beat him up, he's Bruce Wayne and he wasn't trying to fight them because they weren't criminals.
    Catwoman's origin is pretty faithful to a few versions of her origin including Bill Finger's origin, Fran Miller's Catwoman origin story from Batman Year One, and Geoff Johns's Catwoman origin from Batman Earth One. In Batman Year One, she is inspired by seeing Batman escape a burning building and fighting cops.

      Regarding your second paragraph, he literally said in the video that it's okay if Batman fails. But if he fails 100% of the time, where's the story? That just makes Batman a background character that reacts to everything else but doesn't actually change anything. You could literally remove Batman from the show and it wouldn't even change anything. Yes Batman should fail, absolutely, he's just a human being. But not more than 98% of the time.

    • @scottycameron5937

      @@akdreamer6497 he resolves most of the conflicts in the show. Who stops Clayface? Batman. Who stops Onomatopoeia? Batman. Who apprehends Two-Face the first time? Batman. Who saves Catwoman and then arrests her? Batman. Who stops Gentlemen Ghost from possessing Alfred? Batman. Who catches the Penguin? Batman. You take Batman out of the show and the villains in the show are never stopped at all. He succeeds in every episode, many of his successes come from failure. It's like you're inventing reasons to complain about the show.

      @@scottycameron5937 Dude goes and gets years of martial arts training, and gets his shit pushed in for every fight in the show. I'm not saying he should be untouchable, but shouldn't he at least be _good_ at martial arts? Sure he wins in the end, but as you say, he wins through failure. That's not him being new to being Batman, that's him being absolutely trash at it.

    • @scottycameron5937
      @scottycameron5937 2 месяца назад

      @@MrNickPresley you clearly don't know much about Batman. Firstly, Batman has always been sloppy, as a beginner. In Batman Year One, he gets the shit kicked out of him by two thugs on a scaffold. Sure he beats them in the end, but just two thugs did a number on him to the point where he needs to lie down and rest. In the original BTAS, Batman gets his butt kicked by a vulture and is incapacitated by Penguin's knockout gas for the bulk of an episode. Secondly, Batman wasn't always a martial artist who traveled the world to learn various fighting techniques in the original Bill Finger and Bob Kane comics he was written in the vein of heroes like Sherlock Holmes, the Shadow, the Green Hornet, and the Black Bat. He just knew basic hand-to-hand combat techniques, not martial arts. That's where this show draws inspiration from, hence why Batman's suit is the suit from Batman's first appearance, designed by Bill Finger and drawn by Bob Kane. Denny O'Neil, Sam Hamm, Neil Adams, and Denys Cowan reinvented Batman as a martial artist and created characters like Henri Ducard as mentors for Batman. All of this happened in the 1970s & 1980s, before that Batman wasn't some ultimate ninja with knowledge of most known forms of martial arts. Batman in the 1930s, 1940s, 1950s, and 1960s just knew basic fighting techniques. The show is pulled from Batman comics from the 1940s.

    • @MrNickPresley
      @MrNickPresley 2 месяца назад +3

      @@scottycameron5937 Even in those comics, he wasn't as much of a glorified jobber. He spends most of his fights in this show on the ground, and a good portion of that out cold. That's goes well beyond being sloppy, or new to the job, and you know it. He's just straight up dogshit, and should probably just leave all the crime fighting up to Montoya and Barbara, who're already doing most of the heavy lifting in the detective department as is.
      It's not where you pull inspiration from, it's what you do with it that matters. And what they've done is make a bait-and-switch where the titular character is reduced to a background character in a show that is, at least nominally, about him (again), and have him be mogged on by everyone from a man with a squishy face, to Jim Sterling in drag. All arguments to the contrary are people desperately deep-huffing copium to make it the tiniest bit more palatable.

    This video is so dog water I had to rewatch the clips of every batman "fuckup" just to prove you wrong to myself
    "Harley Quinn traps Batman wtf"
    Batman is fighting a brainwashed hostage and is forcefully shoved in a cell
    "Batman chased Harvey instead of saving a charred corpse"
    Harvey poured a bottle of alcohol on the man who scarred his face and poured a trail to light a flame,
    Batman arrives to the scene after an obvious timeskip only to see the room Harvey was in already ablaze and Harvey literally just about to leave.
    "BATMAN PICKED UP A FUCKING GUN WTF"
    This is literally not the first time in existence Batman has picked up a gun in anger, which is exactly what he is feeling after seeing a good friend be killed in front of his eyes.
    Now for Catwoman and Harley Quinn:
    "Catwoman is just a Batman fan, that's stupid"
    No fucking duh, she uses Batman as an inspiration to don the alias Catwoman and make a costume for herself...
    "Harley is an independent villain who don't need no Joker"
    Joker is responsible for two things regarding Harley, her transformation and her abuse under the Joker's "care", She is also using her powers as a Psychiatrist to manipulate millionaires into giving away their fortunes to charities and giving herself money to top it off.
    She also does NOT know Bruce Wayne is Batman and Vice Versa, Bruce Wayne would have been another victim of Harley Quinn if he was not where she wanted him to be.
    I was thinking this would talk about issues I saw in the show, not changes or a callback to a villain origin

      2 that is fair and makes sense
      3 it is fine that he picked up a gun he used the gun which batman never does if he held it and didn't shoot then that would show the mental struggle of his code and the restraints he puts on himself
      4 yes but still wanting batman ? as a partner hell nah ? but if this is not true then my bad
      5 why did she develop a costume of a clown before the jonkler meet her? and Harley is a psychiatrist not a chemist so where did brain washing comve from? crane? and powers? harley is just a normal person with no powers
      6. have not watched the show so i wouldn't know the details

      1. There have been many instances of regular ass people who have managed to tag the Batman even into his later years as Gothams Vigilante, simply because he is able to fight gods does not mean he isn't able to be knocked out by a pipe to the noggin.
      2. Catwoman does not really care about Batman (not this version or timeperiod it seems) and was trying to use her actual feminine charm to convince him to ditch being a good guy
      3. Harley Quinn is an alias (obviously) Anyone with that perfect of a civillian name like "Harleen Quinzel" would obviously think to use "Harlequin" as a basis for her villain name. Harley Quinn is using her abilities as an trained psychologist to mentally tear down her victims to make them more susceptible to follow orders via physical or psychological harm She doesn't have powers, it is something she has an expert understanding of how to use and manipulate people
      4. Villain origins are constantly changed so no one can really blame you for finding it confusing since they are always changing for the sake of being changed
      5. This is a revisted and slightly reinvented take on Batman stories so i recommend you try and watch it for yourself instead of looking for other peoples review, either good or bad, and simply just form your own opinion.
      Personally i like it because it just focuses on Batman and his war on the Mafia and not space gods or demons or interdimensional horrors beyond human imagination that Batman has to take down and makes everything more grounded in Batman Mythos

Her job is to know how people's brains work so she is going to be the first friggin suspect when a mind controlling super villain who's name is that similar to her own starts to be on Batman's radar! Kind of a minor point. I was so hyped to see Onomatopoeia (seemingly in a faithful rendition of his small appearances in the comics, even if he started as a Green Arrow villain.) and they turned him into a generic mobster with a gimmick that does not translate well to TV.
    No real mysterious aura because you don't care for him since he doesn't pose a threat. No killing masked vigilante (which could have worked to improve Selina's character). No "average joe" reveal.

    I'm surprised you only have 17 subs, this vid really touched on a lot of aspects of the show that disappointed me esp with the villains, though I do think the scene with Batman and the gun in my opinion was showing his hatred for guns as he threw it in the river after using it to threaten, the fact that he accurately aimed it to not kill shows that in my opinion that Batman is familiar with the weapon which he would have to be since he works around guns a lot.
    Also the man in the building that Harvey set on fire I assumed that he was dying by the time batman got there which is why he wasn't saved, though that's just my interpretation. I do think that because batman's existence was considered a rumor at the start of the series it shows proof that it was his early days as batman.

    This show takes Selina Kyle back to her original roots. She was a sheltered, spoiled, rich brat with no moral compass stealing for her own selfish wants.
    This Harley Quinn is an intelligent person that is punishing the corrupt bureaucrats and capitalists.
    This isn't batman: Year One. This is Batman: Week two. He has a lot to learn. He's a flawed hero. It makes for character growth. Many Batman fans have been sick and tired of god-like Batman that is unstoppable with enough prep-time. If you want a harmless, enjoyable watch, go watch Batman meets Scooby Doo. You're right. For starters, just because somebody made something good previously doesn't mean everything they do is or will be good. Second, Bruce Timm was on the creative team and was in charge of Art. Paul Dini did a lot of the writing and is responsible for some of the agreed upon best written ones to boot.

      No she ain’t. They butchered the character. She has no reason to dress up like she does without the presence of the joker as inspiration

      @@Laevatheinn Joker isn’t a psychiatrist though. His backstory makes sense leading into becoming Joker. Harley without joker doesn’t. That’s the entire basis of what makes Harley who she is. A joker fan girl in an abusive relationship. She was not interesting at all in this show

      Her full name is Harleen Quinzel
      Harley Quinn is based off of "Harlequin"
      Harleen = Harley
      Quinzel = Quinn
      This is a joke literally made by Harley multiple times in the past since her name as a striking similarity to "Harlequin", Joker wasn't even the one to give her the name, this was even a joke in the Harley Quinn Show on HBO
      Harlequin = Harley Quinn

      @@Dummy4007 What does that have to do with anything? Lol. I’m simply saying joker is responsible for turning her into what she became. Sure her name sounds like Harlequin but joker seduced her and got into her head and validated her insecurities leading to her losing her mind

    The same people who made this also made the that weird Batman Podcast in 2021 on HBO Max so this just another weird batman cartoon thats sucks but at least the Harley Quinn anime or isekai is sort of interesting compared to this
