I see no one commented on Unicorn Overlord's actual original voiceovers. They're pretty fantastic and have some big names in there; however 8-4 halfassed the subtitling because it's all just dubtitles. Singular grunts or names in Japanese are somehow subtitles with 3 entire sentences or a paragraph's worth of text. Incredibly obvious discrepancies in writing and personality for characters that are noticeable to even the most basic speaker; everyone's way ruder for no reason in English. It's very nonsensical and really shows a lack of care for anyone who prefers original voice acting. Actually I heard Matsuno himself commented on lack of accuracy /faithfulness so I'm surprised it didn't come up when bringing up his comments. P3 still having no real definitive version almost seems comical now. Happy for Edeleweiss, they deserve their success. I hope the show isn't too low budget.
