I am a big fan of REM, and at a time I used to be kind of homophobic, you know making fun of them because it was the "macho thing" to do, but then Michael Stipe revealed his sexuality and made question everything. If he was one of my idols, and one of the coolest people on earth, there's nothing wrong with homosexuality. I was the one who was wrong. I love Michael Stipe, and I always will. He has helped me be a better person.
Infuriating isn't it? The questions and relations are relevant but he has the same problem many interviewers have of not letting the interviewee share their perspective beyond what the interviewer wants to hear so he can insert his segway to bandx/elementx. The guy obviously understands a lot about a lot though, so I can understand why he wants to jump in and add his own clarification as if it's a normal conversation.
