  • Solo Female VW Camper Van Travel - UK Vlog: A wild camping experience at Ribblehead, North Yorkshire in a vw camper.
Overnighting on a car park overlooking Ribblehead Viaduct. Two other vans spent the night there too. Really getting to like the freedom of camping away from camp sites.
I set out with my cameras for a walk to the viaduct (no drone photography took place around that area) but this was cut short following an unpleasant encounter with a very confrontational man, I won't go into it here its in the vid, but it turned into a very short walk and a disappointing amount of footage because I completely lost my mojo!
This proved a reminder to me of how "not myself" I still am, which is incredibly frustrating. I missed Bri being by my side. It's very true that grief comes in waves, and some of them are Tsunamis.
Apart from the encounter, however, I enjoyed my latest night away - very scenic, peaceful, and the best weather of the week. This was a spot Bri and I had talked about staying at many times as we drove past, so I can finally tick it off for us both ❤ ✔.

    Hi 🖐
I’m Sue from Lancashire in England.
This channel is just me getting out and about in my Campervan, occasionally with friends but mostly solo 😊. Fun, laughs, moans, groans, mistakes, and successes. It’ll all be in here!
I’ve started out on solo travels in ‘Vanya’, my VW camper van, in an attempt to re-engage with life after losing my husband 2 years ago. Working through my grief has been the hardest & loneliest challenge imaginable.
Now, by returning to the vanlife we enjoyed so much together, revisiting a love of photography, and immersing myself in nature, I’m slowly regaining strength and balance moving forward through the next chapter of my life, whatever that holds.
PLEASE consider subscribing to show your support by joining me on many adventures in my little van x

Since starting my channel I've had a couple of contacts from people on their own grief journeys who have said that watching my videos helps in some way. This means a great deal and so its very important to me to be honest in them. Therefore, if bad things happen/I have a bad day like I did in this one, I will include it and not cut it out in favour of portraying perfect days. Hope you don't mind x

I used to have a big motorhome which I went away in with my mum-fr whom I was a long term carer. In 2016 she died and I couldn't bear to use the van any more and for four years it sat on my drive and got damp so I sold it. There wasn't a place I hadn't gone with mum and found it difficult to travel anywhere we had been because it upset me and brought back memories and then I didn't want to go there any more. Its taken me four years to decide to get a van again-this time a small one just for me and I have decided to build it myself and make it my own and then travel all the places me and Mum went for 20 years and kind of "Re-own" them and make the places mine so I can make good memories for myself. Thanks for the video. It made me even more determined to do this.
PS... don't let nasty people get you down. Just do what I do, imagine them on a toilet and they have a poo and then they discover they have no loo roll.

@@parkay3560 I know the comment was for Campervanya and not me, but just wanted to comment anyway. Hope you don't mind. So sorry about your Mom, it's hard losing a parent especially one you've obviously spent so much time with. I lost my Mom 16 years ago to the big C, and my Dad 15 years ago. So glad to hear you are going to do a van build and get back out to these beautiful places. There comes a time when you remember people with a smile in your heart and on your face, rather than full blown heartache. There will always be a feeling of sadness attached to it, why wouldn't there be, we loved these people! But it will get better and hopefully you'll have fond memories when you revisit these places. All the best of luck to you and lots of love to you too.💕

However, never let those people affect how you should live your life. He is just a black dot in the beautiful sceneries that you’re in. Great pub for a park up. One of the best I have ever been too. The viaduct is impressive and there are some great walks to enjoy.
I think a lot of people that are unfamiliar with drones perceive them like a pair of flying binoculars and imagine someone is sat peering at them. Well don't flatter yourselves that's not the case, drone flyers are not interested in you certainly not in a location as dramatic as this. The viaduct, trains and stunning landscape are far more exciting then anything your up to.
    Great video.

I agree and it’ll be a ‘go to’ when I just fancy a last minute night away. This was early on in my solo travels & my drone flying, and I suppose I wasn’t up to challenging the misery guts. If I saw him now I’d brush him off like the busy body that he was. People walk around with mobile phones recording & photographing all the time, drones are way off and like you say looking at much more interesting things than people!
Have you seen the Kirkstone Pass video? That’s an excellent park up with great walking too. Think you’d like it.

Very pleased to see that the ill-mannered individual who approached you will not be on your mind for long - he isn't important enough. Great advice about being sensitive in how we meet with others as we can't have any idea what their circumstances or experiences are. Our parents' advice to treat people how you would like them to treat you is as sound as ever. Keep enjoying the Vanya freedom and the beautiful places it enables you to reach. Safe travels. Hi John thanks for commenting it’s always good to know who’s watching and hopefully getting something from the videos. Sorry to hear your story but all I can say is if you bite the bullet and just go for it I doubt you’ll regret it! The places you get to wake up in are amazing. Maybe start with pub stops then there are other wild camping places like here where there are always others parked up not too far away so not totally isolated. I’m still building up confidence with wild camping. I use a DJI Mini 2 Combo and it’s a great little drone. You need to get an operator ID and do a little online pilots test before you can fly it but this drone is light enough that you don’t have to get further authorisation. I recommend you read up on drone requirements & also take a look at Air Photography RUclips channel he gives great advice on tech. If I can help at all let me know and good luck with the wild camping! Sue 👍🏻🚐

But if confronted by someone who clearly leads a very sad existence that he has to make himself feel important by berating others, I just move on. The only person who is affected is them, a heart attack perhaps waiting to happen? (tho wouldn’t wish ill harm to anyone). If they can say their piece then so can I, like you - politely. Hugs 🦆💕

In our humble opinion, you dealt with it the best way..... your way. People pass throw away comments without any thought with what that may do to the recipient. Your drink in honour of your husband was extremely touching to watch. May we ask you not to watch our Ribblehead video unless you like to see people being drowned by rain 😊 oh, and one little thing back to the “grump” you had the displeasure to speak to...... on our “Day Trip #2” video which is live Friday 4th of June, if you watch it, when you see me walk down a side street to look at a classic car...... what you don’t see (or hear) is my brief contact with low life on a street corner shouting at me “oi, fella, is that a camera? You best not be filming me!”...... ended up doing that walk where you don’t want to run but you know you need to get away 😮

    • @CamperVanya
      @CamperVanya  3 года назад +1

Funnily enough, if there’s one thing I like to see it’s people being drowned by rain so I’ll be seeking that one out 😂. I can just picture the walk, run, walk exit! Why do some people assume they’re of even the remotest interest to anybody filming other, much more interesting things?! 🙄

Jo and myself looked at the telly when you said about the older chap and shook our heads. So for 15mins a year, the terrific racket and din of your drone spoils his daily walk, priceless 😀 Shrug it off, laugh, and as Sid James would say, carry on vlogging! I had a similar encounter recently , I patiently explained the law on privacy , which he didn’t deserve , ignorance of the law is no defence but is sort of excusable but bad manners is not . This is our go to short weekend retreat, we have been 3 times but never stayed at the pub, had a few ales though.
A lovely video, well shot and well edited.
Think your going to have days and moments when you feel down, but you are pushing back into the world and things are going to trigger older memories.
    But it will get easier.
Drones! Don't know why people get a bee in their bonnet about them, smart phones and a good DSLR have better cameras than most drones and would be better to film people if that's what they fear. But in a public place you can do as you please , photograph and film pretty much anyone. having done the CAA C2C course the advice was to not engage with them till you've landed, then remind them your not breaking any laws, but if they feel something is wrong they should call the police.
They generally walk off at that point.😃
I'm a train driver and work over that Viaduct and if I had £1 from everyone taking my picture , I'd be retired by now !
