Billy Your videos always have captivated me. They hold the true story of the hunt. I always thought that you had a big film crew, producer and editing staff. But then I really started paying attention to your videos and relized that these videos are all self filmed. Amazing! Just like your hunting prowess! You are a consummate professional! In both the hunting art and telling the real story. Keep rolling and keep the videos coming! Thank you for the info in this video. I have learned a ton from it.
It would be a pleasure to meet with you someday. I’ve lived, hunted and fished the entire state of Alaska for 20 plus years. I would love to sit back and tell stories for a bit. You just strike me as a pretty damn good guy. Your videos are something my Gramps would have loved. Thanks for sharing.
Can’t film my hunts , but I like everything MDMM puts up. I thank you for all the hard work you put in to show me the places you go. Hope that you keep making videos for a long time. God bless MDMM Billy M. And family stay safe
I'm going to be watching this video over and over to get all of this info. because what you are doing definitely works. Your videos are the most refreshing and well made I've seen in40 years!
I'd love to see you make a detailed run down of what hunters should bring and not bring for their guided Alaska hunt and why specifically. As a guide myself I have thought about making one but you definitely have more experience. I am sure you have some stories of things that clients have brought along that make no sense to you but they just didn't know any better. There's definitely a need for this in the small circle of guys going up to hunt for the first time.
Self filming improvements #2 shows a lot of good advise. However, your camera that goes on the back of your sporting scope for close ups is that standard. Or do you have to ask about it with the dealer before you buy. Billy, I think this is a dream come true with all of the tips you supply. It will take time and practice but that's what I have time. Thank you Robert/Apache's Corner Outdoors
Hey Billy! Great stuff here. I think sometimes people feel they have to have a ton of gear and the best equipment before they even film anything. Then they dont capture years of adventures and hunts because they made it too difficult...o wait. Thats me! I think back on everything over the years and wish i would have just kept it simple and filmed.. As far as ideas for future videos, maybe field judging or "what to look for" in a quality animal when hunting alaska with video references. Alot of times hunters have no experience in a new species and sometimes guides take it for granted the hunter knows the info they do. Caribou for example can be hard to field judge for a first timer...or full curl sheep for that matter. Thanks!
I like it! Thanks for the suggestion! It's an old adage, but it's so true: If you wait until everything is perfect before you start something, you'll never do anything. Good Hunting,
I'm sure you've had troubles weather proofing your gear in Alaska, got any tips on how to keep cameras dry/protected but still accessible when you need it?
I use Ziplocs within my storage pounches. I try to keep camera covered with my hat or gloves. Obvisously there are raincoats for cameras. This is also part of the reason I don't use very expensive cameras. Waterproof GoPros are the ticket.
I like doing basic filming ,keeping things simple ,not large amounts of gear,I generally am out alone ,grizzly, bison, moose, caribou,so it's me packing my own stuff

Much appreciated.
Your videos are great, your a good storyteller.
Good stuff, very interesting. I don't film but am interested in it, so enjoy the information in these vids.
Very helpful info. (How do you keep calm and positive) most of us loose it within a week outdoors.
Experience I guess... I tend to get more calm/postitive the longer I'm out there. "This storm too shall pass."

Thanks for the suggestion. I do have a "Gear Dump" video. Is that kind of what you mean?
@@moderndaymountainman8130 Just watched it, good job!

Yes! It's a challenge. Constantly learning/growing makes it enjoyable.
Ever thought about coming to Australia and hunting Sambar Deer Billy?
Yes! I've guided several Aussies. All GREAT guys. Love the hunting culture you have there.
I have a question. Do you know the best way to capture the northern lights on video?
I'd love to know myself! iPhones do it quite well.
I have a hard time figuring out what needs to be shown.
:) We all do!
