Keep Out's effect on counter activates during your opponent's turn and stays in effect for the next turn which saves you don for a lot of the powered up effects of the Red Revo cards.
Hey Vv, love the videos! I've been struggling recently with RY Sabo into meta match ups at locals and was hoping you could make a video on RY Sabo against only meta decks with tips on how to approach beating them. For example, when to go for life or the board playing against BY Luffy. Or how to deal with U Doffys board flood.
I know that most like seeing the wins of the decks, but I think that if you would publish one or two losses so that you could show some kind of weakness or mistake, I think that could generate a lot of knowledge or just learning by watching. It's good stuff
hey VV great vid as always just a couple points/thoughts... -7c sabo is super situational like you pointed out. I wouldnt run it but if you have to, at 1 or 2 of -Koala 6c blocker is decent but wouldnt run more than 2, it does help you draw and cheat out a card but the neg life can hurt you down the line (dbl edged sword) plus its abrick forcing you to play on curve or in desperation -I think you should re add the 4 drop ivankov bc the odd times you dont see the 5c ivankov it can help keep the board wide. and its a target you opp will prob go for to pop or swing into -another flex spot is 5c Satori (2-4) bc its a great 2k and doesnt have limiting restricitons to play out or you just take it as a 2k to hand -lastly the jewelery bonney should be in at 2 or 3. it does help with card draw and the trigger is great thanks Im always excited for vids bro keep up the great work
Yeah, I haven't even considered running 7c Sabo. Like, you would need to be setting up an AMAZING trigger, but most revo army triggers aren't good enough to use this card. MAYBE 7c Sabo himself's trigger is. And the 3c Karasu, depending on situation. Healing at 0 life seems very situational too.
Hey VV, if you still are looking for cuts: Most of the players in our Betty community have found 3 cost Betty to be iffy simply timing wise. I mean Sabo could loop her, but im sure there are more efficient loops.
keep out is till the end of your turn, so i'd assume you use it on opponent's turn (counter) then you keep the + 2000 on your turn and can swing with the + 2000.
I'm a new player in OPTCG and your videos got me really interested in RY Sabo :D been having a lot of success with your RYS Revo/Goa Hybrid version in the sim against my friends, would it still make sense to swap over to Full Revo at this stage? Also what is in your opinion the strongest list for Sabo? thank you for your videos
Hey, welcome to the game! Glad to hear you are enjoying RY Sabo :] I think that the Goa Kingdom version is still going to be just fine in OP09, but will need some adjustments depending on what you expect from your locals. I would recommend swapping out the Ace package for a full on Luffy package to help you deal with Blackbeards. Remember, 5c Ace does not normally have Rush he has an On Play that gives him Rush if you have 2 or Less Life cards. Blackbeard's can turn that effect off which could really hurt. So with some adjustments I do think that Goa will still be solid 💪 As far as the best version of RY Sabo goes going into OP09 I do think it will be a tie between the Control Version and the Revo Army Version. Having to change off of the 5c 7k Rush Aces and losing our On Play's against what will more than likely be the most popular deck of the format (Blackbeard) really takes the edge off of the Goa version the most imo. Only testing will be able to tell for certain though. However, the version I show off in this video today was a real treat to play. I felt like I always had answers and that every matchup was winnable. On top of that I don't even think the list I was running in todays video was fully optimized yet and had room for improvements. Then of course the Control list I think will actually be very strong into everything and only have a few struggles (like against Yellow and Black) Hope this helped!
Every RY Sabo video I learn something new! Also wanna main this leader and what I notice the difference in how I play is that I always try to maximize/use the leader ability whatever happens but that does not always seem to be the case after watching the games in this video. Would like to know more about your decision making with regards to investing or not investing 1 don to use leader's ability. If you already talked about this in your previous videos, I apologize in advance.
It's very situational and matchup dependent. For example, if you are going against a deck that is known to run removal, you probably aren't going to be saving your Characters, so either swing in with them immediately or start cashing in on their value when you can by Lifing them. However, in the opposite case where you are going against a deck that wants to battle Characters into the board, if you think you have the Counter Power in hand to keep a Character on the board then there is no real reason to Life it and give up on your tempo. There are also more advanced reasons to Life Characters in RY Sabo, like if you just need to push a Character 2k over your Opponents Character but you can't spare any Don to do so, then Lifing a Character to buff another Character gives you one less smaller body to protect for the turn, and extra Life, and a way to better deal with the board. Hope this helped!
@@Vvulfrik Thank you, this is enlightening! I still lack some game knowledge as I just started OPTCG, these pointers will definitely help me play the game better overall regardless of the leader I use. 🙌
I know you are probably waiting until the whole st21 is revealed, but yesterday a new luffy was revealed that is perfect with this leader, because it's a 5c 7k rusher no condition. Will you go over it soon?
The deck does fine against Lucci, you just tech in the 5c Rush Luffy's like I talked about at the end of the video. This is the direction we need the deck to go to be better catered to dealing with Blackbeard. Going that route will also make the matchup better into Lucci. The reason I have no Lucci games in this video is because it's been hard to find Lucci's on the Sim lately, I'll try to get some games in against Lucci for the next video.
Seeing many players give up prematurely in these games is kind of disappointing unfortunately, especially with the katakuri and rpluffy players, who I definitely think could sneak the win if it played out Also regarding your rant about 7c sabo I kind of agree; I never find myself able to play the card because 7cost is a heavy investment to life manip when the opportunity cost is another Ivankov or to swing + leader effect. For me it only saw play when I HAD to play it or I would die (ie you go to 0 life on ur 8don turn somehow). If I could run the card in a non revarmy/control list it would be a stronger and flexible alternative to 6c Newgate but the rev army lock stipulation makes setting your top life alot more underwhelming. The only really nice thing about the card is if it triggers blind or if you play it with another 7c sabo in hand. What I didnt anticipate is 6c koala saw more play for me than the 7c sabo, but when you first read the cards you would think the sabo is a better card
Just finished watching the whole video; completely agree with your end of video comments about koala and sabo (how koala sees more play ironically, especially vs Nami and no swing gameplay) I personally never run Morley because the unblockable aspect rarely comes into play for a 3c body since 3c is a threshold too easily removable imo, and its a brick anyway (i understand the trigger is good). But if we are slotting in luffies and maybe KnK aggressively I think we can drop morley. I also think you should ditch the 4c ivankov as its a bit too unsynergistic with the leader. Only issue with this route is that we are significantly reducing our good hits with 5c ivankov, being limited to just Lindberg, Karasu and 2k Counter Kuma (with betty, karasu blocker and koala being the mediocre hits). Really need to slot in the 5c promo sabo at that point I do think Benn Beckman is a mustinclude in somefashion whether for revarmy or control; you get synergy with firefist or Koala as 9don plays. But I do find Im struggling to fit it in if I want the Nami and 6c Robin package. A tough decision for sure Blackbeard turning off Rush Ace really annoyed me because Im a big fan of the 8don ace combo, so I think it really has to be the luffy route for that matchup even in our rev army version. I would even consider running baby luffy lol; not to do the 9don combo but to draw out rush luffy cheaply from life because very often when you try to loop them rush luffy into lifing it, they will stop swingint at your leader
Awessome vídeo, but Man, that katakuri (before the nico game) fumbled the ball, katakuri is ALL about heart of the cards and he had 2 banger triggers. Bege would freeze leader and ok, assuming you would attack the board (you specified you would Focus 1), ok, next turn he would still have 3 swings and could lay down another 7 lin, forcing you to give up the Sabo, or, give him an extra life which could be anything, maybe even a 0c he could maneuver with leader ability. If he Mathed the swings correctly, It would be 1 certain hit from whatever you didn't kill, maybe even like 5k from leader (you would have 0 cards at hand so It would land) and Double attack with tunned UP cards that were on the board, both would likelly connect because belo Betty would be 1 of the draws from sabo and its a 1k counter, even If the other would be a 2k, It could still be a wrap because Morley is a no counter. Kata players can never give up hope as long as he has life.

-another flex spot is 5c Satori (2-4) bc its a great 2k and doesnt have limiting restricitons to play out or you just take it as a 2k to hand
