Kurt literally always started with a down stroke. Watch any live video slowed down. And he didn’t add the amount of ghost notes this guy did either. It’s weird how many people play this riff completely wrong. Lol
@@kieran92ryan and if you slow down the studio version to around 50% you can actually hear the low f note is the first note of the chord struck, so it’s a down stroke.
That literally only matters if you’re listening at 50% speed super closely. If it sounds good then you’re playing it correctly. Istg it’s only Nirvana fans that are this fucking obnoxious when it comes to dumb shit like this.
Now I don’t want to be annoying or anything, but that isn’t exactly Kurts strumming pattern for this song. He starts each chord with an upstroke instead of a downstroke, creating an even more unique sound. This can be seen and heard on live performances and is pretty obvious when u realise it. Nice playing though :)
Damn im late but tbh the first two sound like an anime and ohhhh god i love you for it this makes me wanna grab a guitar and strum away but bass will have to do thank you so much
I can't tell if people on RUclips are actually wrong or they are purposely wrong to jack up the comment section as a way to play the RUclips algorithm game anymore
@@dylanlamarre3768 no he’s right on the original recording and occasionally live Kurt would start the song with an upstroke. If you slow down the original, you can hear the higher strings being hit first.
gotta correct the strumming pattern technique a bit, the forehand shouldn't be bent inwards, it puts more strain on the wrist. instead, it should be in line with the wrist. Love your videos!
there's a song called "jealous type" that has this strumming pattern in the pre-chorus and i think it sounds really good, i think the reytons should get some attention
Music corpos be like: "UMM EXCUSE ME WE OWN THAT STRUM PATTERN"
Exactly
You can own that,?

@@oliverb.3898 for a hack to be useful pretty sure you gotta know how to play
That strumming pattern is incredible
Can confirm just tried this pattern with “polly” and “lithium”
Nobody believes it matters that Teen Spirit begins with an upstroke until you play it yourself
matters A LOT
Kurt literally always started with a down stroke. Watch any live video slowed down. And he didn’t add the amount of ghost notes this guy did either.
It’s weird how many people play this riff completely wrong. Lol
The first live video I clicked on has him doing an upstroke, studio version is 100% upstroke.
@@kieran92ryan well I’m not sure what video you’re watching but all of them I’ve seen slow motion is down stroke 🤷🏻♂️

???
Fish wrist is WILD
That Dead at the end... nice
Smells like jazz spirits
notice how he played the chords correctly and not just power chords
Still using power chords he's just barring them instead of using 3 fingers
@@duanekogut757 no, you can hear this sus4 chord sound, when he plays it
he legit used power chords to play the song, he was using chords for the examples
@@norecess9472 Kurt played power chords that way, he'd just occasionally fret the g string accidentally
@@the-np4mr it wasn’t accidentally , kurt would bar the higher strings with his ring finger for a twang type rich sound
the problem is i've heard the pattern so many times that every song i hear with it reminds me of teen spirit lol
Example #3 sounds like it could be a Blur song from the mid '90s.
It’s franklins tower by the dead
It sounds like there’s no other way a little bit. 😂
I love the flexibility of your wrist when do this tipe of strum
Almost has a jazzy feel to it. Very nice.
that last example be hella grateful deady
it totally sounds like Franklins Tower! it also sounds like the chorus in Lou Reed’s Walk on the Wild Side, the “doo do do” parts
Sounds exactly like franklin's, first thing I thought when I heard it
Your tone IS phenomenal
Teen spirit starts with a up stroke.
depends which performance really
Only with live shows he did upstroke, honestly it doesn't even matter lol.

No it doesn't.
@@LiveByTheSword90 yes it does "kurt"

Well, kurt Kobain did say that that rhythm strum came from Boston “More Than A Feeling”
Your strumming technique is so fluid
Dang, that last one hit different 👌.
Those are some funky chords dude 🤘
kurt cobain was no master guitarist, but boy was he creative
