Citizens are not customers. Customers can shop elsewhere if they don't like the way how a business is operating, citizens have to uproot their entire lives to move to another country. There is only one central government (or shop) in the country that people get to vote on every 3 years. That's not comparable to how the market operates where you have accessible choice.

@@theothomas4287 I don’t dislike people who own properties, but I do dislike corrupt members of the government who change policies or legislation for their own gain. @ when Labor took office in 2016 they thanked the previous government for providing them with a stable and fiscally strong economy and budget. In 6 years they wasted that benefit and Covid was not fully responsible it was their waste of monies and inability to keep a check on how the money was spent as there were no KPI’s or measures in place. So this government can rightfully comment on an economy and finance that is a mess and rightfully so.

    Luxon reversed the smoking bill.
Roughly 5,000 people die from smoking-related health problems every year, according to Health NZ.
Among total Māori deaths, almost a quarter (22.6%) were potentially attributable to smoking, compared with 12.3% among non-Māori and non-Pacific people.
The outcome of this reversal of legislation means that more of our tax dollars will be spent on medical costs for those that eventually develop health conditions and lung cancer (around $5,000,000,000 - 5 billion)
Also this reversal of legislation means billions of dollars go straight to tobacco big business who profit financially from the addictive nature and harm of tobacco, including harm to our children and babies. These tobacco companies will keep making exorbitant profits because of this government.
This is all despite an average of around 80% support rate of the ban. Including smokers.

In summary, Luxon has the blood of 5000 kiwi souls on his hand. Each. Year. Yes. That’s right. He could have saved 5000 kiwi souls by proceeding with what we the people wanted.
Instead he chose to burden us with more health care costs and more death.
Fellow Co-Director Associate Professor Andrew Waa at Otago university says: “Implementing this legislation would have reduced smoking prevalence to less than five per cent for all population groups, and brought profound health and wellbeing benefits for everyone.”
“It is devastating that we are no longer poised to achieve our goal of a Smokefree Aotearoa. One death from this toxic product is too many. Now we’re faced with the prospect of thousands of unnecessary deaths every year. Māori, in particular, will continue to be harmed.”

"points to falling interest rates"... That are falling at exactly the rate predicted by Labour's outgoing financial statement. So they have massively degraded NZ's public services, driven up govt debt, extended an economic recession, and made no difference to interest rates at all
Oh and the LIES about the income tax cuts... 50% of that money from the tax cuts went to the TOP 7% of income earners. Low and middle income earners got a pittance.

You simply dont get it Luxon.
Capital Gains - The tax system is so biased that NZ has wasted $500bn bidding up land prices rather than going into productive businesses. No CGT, no gift tax and no inheritance tax simply badly distorts the playing field.
Rent - NZ has some of the highest rent/income ratios in the world.
NZ has 100,000 households in energy poverty, companies going under, and now we are facing even more power price increases while the govt gouges dividends and tax take.
We have to grow the country - NZ has had 7 quarters of negative gdp/capita growth. All set out in National's budget docs.

Guyon's role here is to seek answers to valid, fact-based questions that I, for one, want to know the answers to, or at least hear how those questions are answered. Fair enough? His job is not to provide a platform for PR prattle, which is (again) proven to be Luxon's typical response - a tactic that Guyon calls his "management speak". Guyon's sign-off at the end of the interview indicated his frustration at giving the PM an opportunity to speak honestly and instead being presented with waffle and consistent diversion from the questions asked.

okay, what I can take from this interview:
    1. Luxon wants to speak out what he thinks could work with our government, and the country in general.
2 the interviewer seemed to be disinterested, not listening nor asking questions to further explain his(Luxon) points, which he doesn't have to. You don't get substance if you don't engage in the conversation, without having to expand on the talking points.
    3. He(Guyon) needs to stop cutting Luxon while speaking and wait for him to stop, he doesn't let any points from Luxon across and only "wants to put it on the table." ruclips.net/video/Cy547SG5TM8/видео.html . That behaviours shows you're not a good listener. I understand that you have thirty minutes to do the interview, but let the man speak instead of cutting him abruptly. He does not even want to let Luxon finish answering the question. If I wanted a debate, I would rather have watched the US debates.
    4. Also the title is disingenuous, and without any nuance, more on the click/rage-bait. I would prefer a simpler title introducing the guest. instead.

It’s like he was trained by the radical leftist Willie Jackson. This highlights, yet again, what we’ve had to put up with when our mainstream media is dominated by far-left journalists. I see this as a major underlying problem for our democracy; the same problem exists in education. You will not get a fair go from these undercover Marxists.

Luxon is genuine in his answers. Guyon is asking question and not listening to the answers. Also taking every opportunity to insult and disrespect. Just because its popular opinion that Luxon is not well liked, doesnt mean Guyon should act like an angsty teenager. Treat even the poeple you dislike Guyon, with respect, and youll get better at interviewing

I hate how interviewers tend to cut people's answers off, in this country. Fine and dandy when they're waffling, but too many times it's done when the guest is trying to actually answer the question. It's being used as a tool to give the guest a hard time rather than keep the interview on track.

They only have 30 minutes and journalists have to interrupt in order to keep within the time. I wish he would answer honestly and openly but he continues to disappoint. He has always been this way.
