I find it fascinating as the true higher power looked at the endless penance and was like enough let the poor dude rest in peace.
I know the "bad" ending opens the world up for more sheninigans but I like this one better just because this poor guy went through absolute carnage and has died now THREE times and was brought back for two. Let the poor dude chill in whatever-Heaven with his peeps. Also, I'm pretty sure the very very very end is supposed to indicate Crisanta isn't done just yet and her absence in the final scene seems really deliberate in a way to make you notice
when was the first time?
he's dead in the opening of the first game, then died at the end of the first game, then dies AGAIN (I'm pretty sure the good ending is implying he's "dead") in this ending@@rigelcascayan

Theory: Much like with the first game, the DLC will reveal that this so-called "Good" ending was really just another layer of the Miracle's plot, and we'll have to pull back the curtain even further to root out the truth.
I hope they go a different way. It will start to look like Diablo where no matter what happens, GOTCHA, it was Diablo. Beat him? Beat his brothers? Nope, it's Diablo. Prime Evils? Different demons? Nope, it's Diablo with titties. I really hope Game Kitchen finds a more creative way to spin the story further.
@@vazzeg Game Kitchen already brought the Miracle back for this game, it's a bit late to worry about them repeating antagonists.
With luck we'll at least get a new malevolent deity besides the High Wills as the puppetmaster this time, it'd definitely feel cheap if they got resurrected too.
@@Sylocat I always thought the Miracle is not a being per se, but something the High Wills did or highjacked as a means of manifestation of their will. For that reason I didn't feel like the second game was repeating the first, because before reading into the lore of the game, I thought what happened is some lingering remnant of the Miracle tries to re-create the High Wills or some sort of similar guiding principle. But yeah, hopefully Game Kitchen finds a creative way to sign off this thread of the narrative.
If we look at "good ending " negatively, the words "safe under our watchful eyes" and "captured within the ancient canvas of light and time " take on completely other tone as penitent one being prisoner in that realm with Miracle itself as their jailer (we already know that Miracle can create impersonations of people to pull Perpetva esdras situation here).
Once again going with win-win plan, either coming back with a new idol of worship or capturing penitent one for ruining it's plans the second time.
Additionally not only Crisanta is missing in the ending but also 4th vision- the betrayer (and I might be blind but Laudes and Jibrael are also possibly missing, if we even count ng+ as canon)
Also am I the only one worried about creature we create out of confessor if we give him too much guilt? We got Radames literally disintegrating a whole church/temple into ash from listening to grief and sins of regular mortals, and here we got THE penitent one guilt........
Lastly this whole "dream" made out of black is worrying: the shadow procession which knows penitent one true nature (if he is killed he does explode into mist making him a "figure of sinuous mists"), mourning mistress and her daughters (giving us that dialog at the end: "With those who THINK they are blessed go forth, with those who seek forgiveness by looking OUT rather then in go forth, with the FALSELY AFFLICTED and WEAK IN FAITH go forth". the lullaby mother and her child.

It was more of a system if you ask me, the whole miracle thing and the devotion incarnate was its physical manifestation. Though if human thought/desire/faith/ect created the high wills then why only them came to existance? Other gods should have appeared as well.
There is definately some intelligent design here to miguide or corrupt humanity. Neither of the 2 "gods" we have seen were particulary complex or self sefficient so smth created them and set them on this path one way or another.

True ending is really beautyfull
I actually had a preset saved with those four figures as a sort of "generalist" setup to get accustomed to swapping all the weapons... I thought to myself that this game would eventually throw a final boss at me that would have a mechanic for me to swap weapons for higher efficacy in damage.
Boy was I wrong.
And I lost my second favorite set up...
Lol man listen my dumb azz didn't know id lose my favorite pieces i was hurt. Heaven wasn't worth it 😂
well the "good" ending pretty much doesnt leave much open for an evental Blasphemous 3, and i dont know if i wanna live in a world without Blasphemous 3 my guys.

so why was killing the high wills blasphemy but killing the miracle incarnated is such a pious act it gets him into heaven?
Killing the High Wills was blasphemy because they said so. They curse you before they die - "The last of our wills is your eternal condemnation". The "heaven" of this game isn't an ally of the High Wills or the Miracle. The Incense cleanses our curse and all sins, allowing us to go to the Canvas of Light and Time.

It’s a force of nature; it’s neither inherently good or inherently bad; but can be used for either.
@@TheCorrodedMan Yep it’s chaotic and arbitrary but was manipulated by the High Wills to do their bidding. With the High Wills gone the Miracle has grown weak but steadily spread and grow like plague, the Witness being the focal point that spread the Miracle influence and transformed humans and objects into mutants that we fight as enemies. Eventually all of this cascade into the creation of Incarnate Devotion.

I believe Blasphemous 2 is a better Metroidvania by far, but it’s a bit too easy in my opinion. I enjoy the difficulty of the first game, but the mechanics of the 2nd game better. What about you?

then the penitent brought back to life who aims to stop the birth of the miracle, not only kills the god but ends the path of penance of the whole world of blasphemous
Hopefully the world can develop as a whole and the Penitent One can watch everyone do science at a distance with his binoculars up in heaven.

I don't like this ending very much. It doesn't fit with the theme and the everyone gets an happy end is a bit cartoonish. It's not a bad ending i just dont like it very much
I'm betting the DLC will reveal it was just another layer of whatever malevolent quasi-deity is pulling the Miracle's strings this time.
I think if any story earns its happy ending, it's Blasphemous. A world where millenia has passed under the miracle nobody can stop except the Penitent One who becomes the messiah figure and absolves the world of its to actually make the world better. Plus the ending isn't happy, it's bittersweet because he and everyone he meets in Heaven are still all dead.
Only 3 golden visages, the fourth one where is it?
How ironic that the one labeled "Traitor" should be the ONLY one of the four golden visages in the Cradle of Life. The others are deceivers and false prophets!
