I have the one you bought your daughter and also an A5 slim version. They are the best, and most versatile notebook covers in my opinion. Nice video.
Thank you for watching and for your kind words 🙏
This is such a good review thank you so much. I was very split on purchasing one as it is quite pricey (in my opinion) but this has helped immensely. Also your pronunciation of Roterfaden is great!
Glad it was helpful! Yes, they are expensive. The booklets are especially expensive if you live outside Germany because of the postage. But I'm using mine more and more these days. I was browsing the large sizes the other day, but 💰! Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment 🙏

Looks great. Did not know about 2 clips version. Definitelly tempted. might dd Hobonichi Cousine in there and moleskine notebook A5. Should fit. Really like the leather in / outside.
A Moleskine softcover would fit easily. These are made so any A5 notebook will fit, but I think soft/no cover options are best. A Midori MD notebook could be a good option. The WK_12 also has a suede lining rather than felt, so it's thinner. The pen loops are really handy too.
I purchased 2 of the Roterfaden covers. One is the standard size for my A6 notebook and journal with 3 clips and the one is large enough to hold my MacBook Air comfortably. I carry the smaller one on a daily basis. It has a nice smooth exterior cover with a suede interior. The larger one has a pebble leather exterior with a suede interior with a generous zippered pocket for my laptop. I like the company and the products!
Wow - your MacBook Air? Which one is that?
@@sketchley MacBook Air (2021) perfect fit
Thanks for this review Martin, this is exactly what I am after. Needed a cover that holds a diary, a to do list and a notebook. Do you know where I can purchase it in the UK?
I don't know whether that's possible. I bought mine from Roterfaden in Germany. Look out for more reviews soon! Thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a comment 🙏
Informative video Martin. Do the metal clips damage or tear the notebook cover or pages when used over time?
surely not
Not in my experience: they work well.
Could I ask what size this is please? I hear reviewers talk about A5 size, but on the website they don’t show A5, medium looks the closest.
This is the size for an A5 book; it takes medium booklets, so I guess medium is the size. It is larger than A5 itself, though, allowing a little overlap.
@@sketchley Thank you, that’s very helpful.
I just went on the website to order one and was blown away by how expensive they are. I appreciate they’re hand made but even so.
Yes, they are expensive... But it's one of those things that will last a lifetime. Having said that... do I _need_ mine? I'm not sure... It was a bit of a treat.
@@sketchley saying that I’m loving your videos. Trying to be more selective with my subscriptions but I will stick with you buddy. As long as I keep learning. Bought the artists way. Event I’ve just turned sixty I feel i have some creativity in me somewhere
That's great! Thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a comment 🙏
Yes, they seem expensive, and they're definitely not for people who like to change their tools frequently (which can be fine).
I think Taschenbegleiter is something for people who want to use one tool for almost a lifetime. I bought my first A5 (dance floring and felt) at Christmas 2009, my wife still uses it; two years later I bought an A5 (same materials) with four clips instead of the standard 3-clip version which has been my EDC for work ever since. I even put my hardcover Leuchtturm Bullet Journal in it. And I use an A6 (made from a printing blanket) when I just want to carry one of my (too many) pocket notebooks and some paper (and there are always a few stamps in the pocket in case I ever want to send postcards).
To bring "variety" into my working life, I simply change notebooks :)
No pen holder kills it for me 🥺
You slide a pen into the loops on either side. Use one loop, or slide one pen through both to "lock" it. Some people say fountain pens are too large (I wouldn't know) but pens like the Uni-ball Air work just fine.
The price though 😭
Yeah - expensive. But quality does come at a cost. I'm wishing they did a slim one with suede lining and three clips now...
