  • In this what's in the box we take a look at a new company in the cooked dog food space, specifically Your Chef's Pet. If you have been wondering whether you should check out Ollie, Pet Plate, Nom Nom, or The Farmers Dog you should check out this initial review of Your Chef's Pet.
We dive into what you experience would be like if you ordered cooked dog food and go into the unboxing experience as well as provide some insights regarding the ingredients and how Your Chef's Pet differed from some of the other options out. Two key areas that are different are the use of organ meat which is not common amongst all cooked dog foods. In addition, a big one maybe the lack of synthetic vitamins which are generally found in almost all dog food.

Overall my impressions are positive the food looks fresh and you can clearly see the ingredients which are always since. Ultron has been very receptive to the food and is a bit of a picky eater. Beyond that, I also like their approach to offering a fixed amount per order and per pouch. This is different than many companies where the QTY is based on the profile of your dog. This can offer benefits especially if your dog is overweight or undernourished. Personally, for me I prefer to have a set amount and portion accordingly.

My dog has been having digestive issues, so I have been scouring the internet for these "human grade" dog food subscription reviews -- I am so glad I found your channel! Your reviews are thorough, well researched, and an absolute godsend in this difficult decision making process. Thank you!

Thank you for the view and support and commentary. best wishes to you and your pup. You may also want to add some supplementation to help improve digestion and strengthen your dogs gut. This can include a easy supplement like raw goat's milk and or kefir. Check out Primal Pet Foods or Answers Pet Food alongside Open Farm. All great options and dogs love it and it is a very good and easy additive to help to improve digestion issues especially if you dog has only eaten foods like kibble.

That is great feedback. I think this is a good video to cover like what type of supplements or other items I add to their food. Thanks for the feedback and recommendation.

What else is on the plate? Looks like canned pumpkin. Have watched many of your videos and we are curious.

Hi Kimberly, -- I will be making a supplement video shortly that dives into some of the items I supplement alongside my dogs food.
Consistent items I do include are noted below
Pumpkin ( canned is fine )
A bit of bone broth adds many benefits especially for joint health and hydration
      A smidge of colostrum
A mix of blended greens ( berries, turmeric, black pepper, and a variety of greens )
Not always but somewhat consistently, Green Lipped Mussel Oil, hemp seed oil, CBD oil
Sometimes added to the meal but most of the time separately is some raw goats milk.
Moving forward will be adding turkey tail/mushroom complex powder.
      Hope this helps!
