I've always notice the difference between Daemon and Viserys in that scene. Viserys let take the baby out of his wife body knowing she would die. Daemon didn't said yes, he knew she was going to die and suffer when they did it. He had more respect for his wife than his brother
Tbf there was a lot more at stake for Viserys
Yea but its also said that daemon was very much traumatised from losing his mother bcs she also died through child birth
He later ignored Rhaenyra in childbirth
@@alexissimpson5819 I may have sound like I'm defending Daemon but the truth is I like the fact that none of the characters are all good or all bad. In this case of the child birth, Daemon was more human and good husband than Viserys, he is a better father to his daughters than Viserys is to Alicent kids, he only treats well Rhaenyra. But at the same time I see lots of people defending Daemon and treating hum like he is a good guy. Viserys even tough he doesn't love Alicent never did nothing phisically agressive on her not even when she stabbed Rhaenyre, Daemon in the last two episodes actions felt like a remember to the fans that he is not a charming prince, he chocked Rhaenyra and let her alone during the child birth. He not even once talked about it with her. But again, I like that because if you stop to think about it, all of them do bad and good actions
@@lennartschwierz9592 in this case if he wasn't so worried about having a boy, maybe his wife didn't passed away. And if he did what Daemon said and stopped caring so much about what id expected from him and remind himself that he is the king and his word is the law, the war wouldn't happen, because he wouldn't marry Alicent
It’s even sadder in the book. Daemon was inconsolable after her death. Rhaenyra mourned her too. And the show did nothing with that. Instead, they gave us Daemon mounting Rhaenyra on the night of his wife’s funeral.
He was giggling at the funeral too, wasn't he? In the show...
@@sarahhunter1114 He was giggling not at her death but at the priest/Laena's uncle using funeral to throw a shade at Rhaenyra once again

@@christinabaatz1204 The baby was stuck, there was no way of taking the baby out without killing her. And waiting for the baby to eventually suffocate would've caused her unimaginable pain. Before she went out Daemon was given the choice wether or not he wanted to save the baby or save her. Of course she didn't want to suffer anymore just to have her baby dead, as there was no way of saving one without killing the other she chose a quicker faster option. Worth noting waiting for the baby to die wouldn't have just made her suffer it could've potentially kill her due to exhaustion and pain as it has and does happen in real life.

Tbh in the Books their relationship was explored in much more detail, Daemon and Laena were alike in alot of ways, Daemon actually duelled Laena's betrothed in order to be with her, by the sound of how the Maester wrote the book, they were in love. When it came to the Leana's death, Daemon wanted Leana to be saved over the child (which shows the difference between him and Viserys) Laena's time was cut short in HotD, I understand they had to rush the plots to get to the Dance of the Dragons, but, I spoke with friends who haven't read the books, and didn't really know her or cared about her death 😶

@@averycheesypotato That little dragon felt that he and his rider were in danger and went in to defense mode. It didn't just attack unprovoked, Aemond went out of their way with Vhagar to attack them.
@@v.9964 I wasn’t blaming the smaller dragon, just pointing out that Vhagar reacted to a bad situation her rider put her in
I honestly believe that Daemon said nothing because he knew that it wasn't his choice to make. It was Laena's. He respected his wife enough to not intervene in her choices about her life or her death. Laena wasn't just am heir factory. She was his equal in every way. Laena was his friend and I think he truly loved her in his own way.
Laena said more than once that she wanted a dragon rider's death. I think that Laena knew the baby was dead and that she wasn't going to survive either way. I don't doubt that Laena would have chosen the baby over herself in a heartbeat if there was a chance they'd survive. She's a loving and selfless mother, who would do anything for her children, but the child was gone. So, out of all the options available to her, Laena chose to die a dragon rider like she always wanted.
I think Daemon realized where she was going, and desperately wanted stop her, but he was too late. He didn't want to watch someone he cared for to burn to death. And I think he was worried that the girls might see their mother burn too. The way he looked at her body after, the pain and guilt. It was so clear. I believe Daemon blamed himself for Laena's death, and he felt guilty for keeping her from her home. Laena wanted to go home. To see her family again and he wouldn't let her.
These scenes show that Daemon is still human. It's one of the few times we see the true Daemon behind the mask. We see just how scared and vulnerable he really is when it comes to the people he cares about. We see the same when Rhaenyra gives birth to Visenya. He retreats, because he can't face that pain again. Not with Rhaenyra. Laena cracked his heart, but losing Rhaenyra would have obliterated it. If she died it would've broken him and he needed to be strong. For Rhaenyra. For the children. He couldn't be weak or broken.
They were going into war. He knew what was coming for them. At that point I 100% believe that Daemon was in damage control mode. If Rhaenyra died, he'd be fighting for their sons. That's where he was needed. That's what he could control and fix.
I love your thorough analysis of Daemon and his character and I couldn't agree more. Most people really get flashed away by his spiky exterior and fear him though they do not understand him. Daemon despite his seemingly moody, quite brutal and uncourtly ways was deep down just a man in a twisted world that only understood violence and displays of pure power as an answer, who stood firmly by the ones that he loved and he loved deeply and unconditionally, so he protected them with what was needed - Violence and Displays of the Dragon's Power. So that is exactly what he did. Viserys never understood this. He was waning and weak, never result enough to cement the power he was so lucky to be giving, while all of Westeros was sawing at his throne, waiting for the dragon to fall, without him even ever realizing it or simply not wanting to see it, for he was a soft, gentle and kind man but not a ruler and especially not a Warrior. Daemon saw it and he knew that he needed to protect his brother for he himself couldn't do it. So he did. He exhibited the strength of the Dragon to scare off any potential threads to the Targaryen dynasty, was unruling and unyielding, unwavering, wild and pure, The Rogue Prince, The Blood of the Dragon, Blood of Old Valyria through and through. Because while the King might have been forgiving, mild-mannered and kind, "weak" people may say, his brother was not. And that was what they feared. Had they ever moved against Viserys, Daemon would have been hot on their trails after them with revenge and they would have faced a Dragon's Wrath. Daemon and his wild antics are one of the reasons Viserys had such a comfortable rule even as a weak king surrounded by snakes with his brother looming as a dark and protecting shadow always behind him but never at his side. His brother's wild, hot temper protected him from any harm that could have come to him from innerpolitical foes greeding after his power, for no one would dare mess with Daemon. He was everything his brother was not, strong, resilient, dangerous, powerful, a formidable fighter, a Warrior, a Dragon who fiercely loved his family and wanted nothing more than for them to be safe and content. Which he himself ensured with every fiber of his being. He was willing to do anything for them. If that meant protecting them by Fire and Blood, so be it. No matter what. Because that is what is required of him to keep the Dragons in Power in the hostile world of Westeros and keep his family save and sound and happy. That is all that matters to him. That is all he cares about. Ultimately. He would die for his family in an instance and he will prove it. For the Dragon stands by his words. Prince Daemon Targaryen, the Rogue Prince, Protector of his Family everybody!
He might seem morally grey to some of the people but he is actually shining bright to all that he loves and a burning presence of unyielding, unwavering, unconditional love, hot like dragonfire He only is a dark, twisted, dangerous shadow to all who would dare harm his loved ones and dumb enough to dare challenge him and to try to make an enemy of him. Behind all that hides a gentle, loving heart, a loving Brother, caring Husband and protective Father, a true family man. So really it's not that difficult so see through all of this.
And that is exactly why Prince Daemon Targaryen is my and also the author's George R.R. Martins favorite Character in all of A Song of Fire series! 😁
@@Saspuer26 EXACTLY!!! Daemon is a perfect representation of a mentally and emotionally complex human being. He loves as fiercely as he hates. He was raised to believe that family is EVERYTHING, and the only way to ensure his family's safety is through strength and unity. Everyone else was either with him or a threat to his family. Not only his family, but the entire realm. The title "protector of the realm" is in there for a reason.
Everybody seems to forget that Daemon and Viserys were raised in the wake of a brutal and unforgiving civil war. One that nearly destroyed the entire Targaryen bloodline AND the seven kingdoms. He and Viserys may have grown up in a time of peace, but the reminders were EVERYWHERE. Burned feilds and weeping widows were plentiful during his childhood. They would have been raised on the stories of Maegor and the fragility of kingship. How in just ONE generation and entire dynasty nearly crumbled to nothing, because of ambition and scheming outsiders. His family was the ONLY thing holding it all together.
Then after Viserys died there was no one there to temper that fire. Rhaenyra tried, but she wasn't her father. She was fire just as Daemon was. He wanted the true heir on the throne. A true Targaryen. Not some Hightower interloper. Because that was what Viserys wanted until his dying breath. Aegon was no king. He never could nor would be. At best he would've been Aenys. At worst Maegor. Daemon knew what it took to make a king and a puppet, ruled by a greedy old man was not it. Rhaenyra may not have been the greatest queen but Daemon knew she would've been a hell of a lot better than Aegon. I think he honestly believed that when all was said and done, he could be the temper to her flames. He could be what Viserys was for him for her.
Yet in the end, Daemon doesn't die for the crown or the realm. He sacrifices himself to avenge Lucerys. He may not have fathered the boy, but he was his son. Daemon gives his all for justice. For his family. Aemond may have been his nephew by blood, but he was a Hightower by deed. And that was unforgivable to Daemon. We can say he did it to take Vhagar out of the equation, but we all know he did it for Rhaenyra and their boy. The same reason he sent Blood and Cheese after Aegon and Helaena's children. It was all for HIS family. Daemon will ALWAYS choose his family.
And if that isn't the most relatable, HUMAN thing, I don't know what is.
Amen

You know Daemon must truly hate Aemond for becoming Vhagar's rider.
Doubt it. He is a Targeryn, riders die, dragons live on. Balerion saw many riders in his lifetime. Vhagar only had 3 (Aemon being her 3rd). It stands to reason she would get a new rider. Dragons aren't property, they are sentient beings. They still have free will.
The children were children. I'm sure they regretted their decision years later. Hopefully their parents explained that to them.

Vhagar is a good girl and she did nothing wrong.
That awful heartbreaking moment when I realized that part of the reason Vhagar might have been hesitant to follow the command was that she had just found companionship after a lot of riderless years and now her current rider was begging the dragon to ACTIVELY tear that apart. 😢
Both of the older actresses that played her are gorgeous, and the little girl was so adorable. I really would've liked to have seen more of her.
Laena kept him grounded and challenged him. She didn't just go along with everything, but made him be better.
Daemon care abt her but she knows Daemon couldn't love her enough and she's okay with that. He wanted to save her but he couldn't. He run to her to talk her out. To let her choose her own fate and to say goodbye to the girls bcs he doesn't want to choose that for her. Bcs his mother once met the same fate, he also sees how Rhaenyra lost her mother recently and trying to minimize the damage for his girls
Your take pretty accurate but also.... He could have run to her. Sure but he's getting roasted with her. He followed her so slowly that he was too far away by the time Vhagar responded he would have been within dracarys range. And she would have perished in the pain of the inability to get her expiring baby out so like..... Really there was no other options here for anyone to save Laera, other than undermining her autonomy and how she wanted to control the situation pain-free as possie.
@@lovinavargas-carriedo2698 I'm thinking he was going after her by scanning to each room. I don't think he immediately think she'd go to Vhagar. That's why he was so late behind. I believe he would shout at Laena to talk her out, he's not going to drag her away with Vhagar around bcs Vhagar might think he's hurting her. And that'd be dangerous
I mean. She was clearly in distress and some of the most pain a person could be in and so physically chasing after her would have not been the move. Even if he was just following her slowly sprinting after her would have made things worse and it's not like he knew what she was planning. (whenever you're trying to de-escalate someone you need to appear non-threatening, and running and tackling a woman with a child stuck inside her with no way out wouldn't have helped) But even still. She was yelling dracarys. By the time she even got near Vhagar it was too lade for him to really do much of anything. Even yelling at her. He's too far away and Vhagar would have interpreted a tackle as an attack. And Vhagar will only listen to her rider, not her riders husband. So shouting isn't going to talk Laera or Vhagar down, and getting close means he'd get roasted too. It's a tragic situation. But outside of thinking of a way to get the baby out and pinning Laera down immediately when she tried to leave her birthing room, there really wasn't much he could have done to help. And a lot of moms walk during birth. Maybe she walked when she had the twins. Maybe he thought he was helping by giving space and bc he's about to lose his wife and child because there's no salvaging his boy, he hasn't connected the dots yet bc trauma doest that to a brain, makes things surreal. Or maybe he already connected them and knew she was going to die from birth if not by going out on her own terms.
@@blabla187 She said she wanted a dragon rider's death. So I'm thinking it could probably be burned to death, eaten by a dragon or falling from the sky. Even the girls couldn't say goodbye for the last time and that's cruel

That's a much more meaningful relationship than the lust and care you felt to your underaged niece a long time ago. They might have love for each other, but they did marry strategically. Her dragon is up for grabs and Daemon is single and ready to mingle with Rhaenyra.
The Greens get a powerful dragon and the Blacks are strengthened through a new marriage to add stronger claim to the Iron Throne.
Какая она красивая 💔
What do you mean he woulve saved her? She was going to die anyway. Pretty shre the baby was breech. And they dont have modern medicine to go in surgically. She was either going to die of blood loss or sepsis.
If anyone thinks he doesn’t love her, when they thought they’d have to cut the baby out the words to first come out of his mouth are “will the mother survive”
How sad is it that this happens to the best women in the series and not to people like Alicent 😢
So you don't like Alicent?
Daemons jacket in Pentos is 🔥
Would of been interesting if she had ended up being fire proof like dany. With dany she always had a blood sacrifice to make her fire proof (Drogo, The witch, Khals, ect) Maybe Laena's blood sacrifice could have been her unborn baby who wasn't immune to fire. Yes I know the thing with Dany was a one time event w/e, JUst thought it would interesting if things had gone this way.
If he truly loved her, he wouldn't have fcked Rhaenyra the day after Laena died. 💀
I don't think it was the day after, it would have take several days for everyone to assemble for the funeral at Driftmark.
in the book they never fuck when the wife die the director show made that scene
in the books he actually did love her, it’s sad they didn’t show it that much on the tv series
У них есть химия. А вот у взрослой Рейниры и Деймона еë нет, есть лишь пустота...
She was beautiful ❤
I don’t know if he can love…and he definitely couldn’t have saved her lol
She brought a peace to him to be sure.
He loved Rhaenyra. He used Laena
I wish you would have shown him speed walking out there yelling her name also. Out of context this could just seemed like he stumbled upon the death and he was shocked. But the fact that he made the effort to go all the way out there to stop her speaks even more of how much he loved her.
She was the only one he always cared respected and never insulted or abused
He’s a wife beater. He probably abused her too. Also, he wouldn’t let her go home.
Watch ep 6 again. He ignored her most of the time, he was depressed and jealous bc Rhaenyra had sons with Harwin. And Laena knew it, she even said "I know I'm not the wife you want".
@@Karasuno86just cause daemon ignored his wife doesn’t mean he’s a always rude towards her. Him being depressed has nothing to do with Rhaenyra having kids with Hardwin. He was depressed b/c he always wanted to be king, but after his brother made Rhaenyra his heir he had no chance of becoming king after years of wanting to become king.
That's not exactly true. He did love her but she knew in the wedding scene that he actually had eyes for Rhaenyra as well.
I think he loved her, but in not allowing her to make a decision to move back to Westeros when she was pregnant, I think Daemon wasn’t being respectful. Women died in childbirth a lot, and it likely meant she would never see her parents or her brother ever again, and she didn’t indeed.
I loved them❤.
Laena was a victim of the time jump. I found her so much more interesting than Laenor..
So is it written in stone somewhere that they can only do 10 episodes? They couldn't do 12? I mean just give them the money!
Exactly. I really wanted to see both the Valyrian siblings and their dynamic with the main characters. Also we saw so less of Harwin.
Аз иван мога да го слушам и само него.Изключитолно интересен и забавен човек!Ще гледам всичко, само не спирайте поткаста!😢😂❤❤
If not for time jumps, we could have known her character more
"Fire can not kill a Targaryen!" 🙂👍
when he's sitting at the wedding he's not looking at laena 😅
Exactly! 👍🏻
@@CoolCat1971 they lie in the videos to pretend it's love at first sight... no matter what. He loves Rhaenyra must accept it. why is this a problem for them? 😂🤭
