Normally I would not say anything but I just watched about ten other "how to" tie a bowline knot videos and I just went away frustrated. Your video actually taught me to tie a bowline. Great job and thanks so much. I don't feel like a dummy anymore.

I did this knot hundreds of times back on the college sailing crew. Like so many others here, I didn't need to tie it for decades and completely forgot. Then when I needed it, I found you. This former sailor thanks you, sir!

The very best explanation I've seen. I've done this knot dozens of times before but always struggle to remember which way the loop goes and which hole I'm coming back through. For the first time, I know exactly what I'm doing.

Hope this comment helps some of you because I struggled with this simple knot because I kept thinking the ORIGINAL LOOP I made was going to end up being the final Bowline loop. NO! That first loop you make @0:32, forget about it, it goes away and the loop you make when you bring up the main line creating the actual final loop @0:44 - anyway, this is what made the knot very easy for me.

I learned this knot as a Boy Scout used it frequently during my service in the British Army then had no occasion to use until now at the age of 71 while cutting some trees back from my side of property’s boundary, and guess what I had forgotten how to do it. Your video explained in such a manner that I could not believe I had forgotten how it goes. Thanks a lot mate for sharing I shall not forget the process from now on.

Next level: For my swift water rescue certification, you tread water as a boat goes buy and throws you a rope. As the boat continues by, you grab the rope with one hand, don’t let go and with the other hand secure the rope around your waist with a bowline before the boat pulls away again, and yes, it is possible to tie a bowline with one hand.

Thank you Michael Rappaport for the demonstration. I thought your character in friends was kinda annoying, but I think you’re a funny guy, maybe the character was just written poorly. Idk. To be honest, I mostly tune out the Phoebe storylines anyway. We get it, you’re quirky and your mom’s dead. Chandler and Monica were the heart and soul of that show. RIP Matthew Perry.
