      @@KnottingKnots With me, it's a knot that can be used to secure/pull someone in a waterbody. Among other uses. This knot will ensure the loop doesn't slide and tighten around a person's body.
      But must practise so as to get the loop right. Too big and it might slip out of the body, if the person isn't holding on to it.

    Thanks, I have it now. For a simple knot there is a lot that can go wrong. I was tying it thinking that the initial loop would end up as the final loop which gave me some kind of sliding loop knot. There can also be some confusion after the rabbit has run around the tree since at that point he is faced with a total of four different holes but the video clarifies this.

    First one shows the non nautical style of the tag or working end shooting out. The second on shows the tag end along the inside of the finished hoop better for yachting as it wouldn’t flap around as much and work apart. Both are correct and you can undo it slowly and change the the way you do the around the tree to fix it the way you want.

      Hello Henry, Thanks for taking the time to view and also make a comment, very much appreciated. Are you more of a practical or decorative knotter? Funny how you liked this video and I really hate it!!! It was one of the first I ever did, yet it has been so popular??

      many thanks for leaving a comment, I am currently doing a video on the marlin spike hitch. This is a very interesting knot, as it turns into four or five of knots. If I remember I will post a link here, otherwise please subscribe and you will receive it.

    I take it the usage for this is to secure the bow of a ship to a post?

  • @BrodyYYC

    What I would do is take the tail and put a bite of it into where the knot will be tensioned. That way after you have loaded it and want to undo it should be much easier cuz you would just first yank that bite out. I've never tried but I would like to.

    Thanks for calling it the working end and not the "tag." I've always thought that was the dumbest thing. It's a rope, not a shirt at a department store.

    You should hold the line in your right hand and demonstrate it as if you were actually making the knot for the purpose of using it in a real sailing scenario.

    Hi, great video. Question, what weight/size/type of cord are you using for this demo?

    • @KnottingKnots
      @KnottingKnots  7 лет назад +3

      To be honest, it is just a ratty old piece for braided cord that I had laying around. I personally would not have purchased it, as I prefer a cord that is a little harder lay than that one is. Are you interested in Knotting and do you practice knots?

    Nice knot. But what is it used for?

    • @KnottingKnots
      @KnottingKnots  6 лет назад +2

      Thanks for taking the time to view and also make a comment, very much appreciated. The bowline is used to create a non slip noose at the end of a rope. It has many uses such as, the first knot used when rigging a ridge line, or could also be used as a temporary soft eye at the end of a rope, to name but a few. Once you know how to tie the bowline, it will serve you well in many situation.

      Is that because you are using a harder lay rope or do you mean something different?
