Very nice trivia, I had no idea the Dragon Princess was referenced in DDON, so this is a shock to me

disclaimer i never played dd online longer than 30 minutes so didn't do any story lol so my dragons dogma viewpoint is entirely the games we got here dd1/DA and now dd2]
to me the dragon was a red herring [aka not the real enemy] it was the brine all along at least in this world itsuno did say in a couple of the promo's leading to release they are all different worlds and if you played the first dd and paid attention to everfall you would know this anyway.
imo the reason the brine became the enemy was becuase rothais the "mad sovran" refused to do his job as seneschal and went on a killing spree to kill "the watching one" instead it made the brine react making the unmoored world and the world we play in till that point is all a lie.
and as for dlc content i think the cutscene at the end with the ex dragonforged going off in his boat we beat the brine, so he wont get sent back to his home like he has been when attempting to look for a new land i think he will get to the new land and something will be there that makes him return to find us and we have to stop whatever it is.

My assuming, Another Dragon or the dragon we stabbed with the Godsbane went there.
And with that came something else from someone else about how The Brine only appears when the Dragon does.
I've been thinking the Brine is it's own thing but maybe it is a bit more then that, the Brine being able to manifest stuff as it sees fit.... Pretty much what we have already seen.
It's all pretty exciting stuff anyway!

@@Zappieroth for real ye XD i been watching some dd online vids recently and it could be an "evil dragon" thing the purple looking one or it could have been the lighting in the room making it look purple. on and off topic do you know of a way i can get to play and do a dd online private server? every video i look at the discord link is broken.

To me the Pathfinder is really is the Guardian Dragon of the world. After the Great Will stopped caring about the worlds they've created the dragon was left alone is a world doomed to perish. The brine looks like a tool used to force changes or the result of the dying world (the big dragon didn't seem affected by it when it touched his wing). Gran Soren was flooded by direct action of the Pathfinder/Watcher after an arisen managed to gravely injury Rothais, so maybe it works as a sealing.
I think the Pathfinder is the Dragon because I his last words he mentions his heart aching and regret to not be able to witness the birth a new LIVING world (the oblivion recedes). Your own WILL managed to break his illusion of the world AND you actually breathe life into your own pawn without relying on the "transference of souls" (arisen dies, pawn gains sentience/will).
I said LIVING world because in the last cinematic with the rivage elder (aka arisen who gave up before the Pathfinder after witnessing the Unmoored World) confirms that the brine is no more = the cyclical simulation has finished.
Changing the subject, there are locked ruins across the map with hidden doors with the rift symbol on them, plus the island we can see across the sea. If we consider the true ending, an expansion that actually adds new content to Vermund-Battahl and a whole new area doesn't sound crazy (because it's after all, a whole new REAL world).
