G-TUG!! Gotta love those guys, they're awesome!
The newest boat gets passed by the oldest boat great photo opportunity there
Wow ..good one! That is definately the Alpena at 15:00 !
The Alpena coming down to laugh at her... priceless!
She didn’t laugh at her. She just said…” welcome to the real world on these lakes. You’re not a real boat without a few scrapes on your bottom.” LOL
That’s a ridiculous thing to imagine. This is simply a hiccup in a brand new vessel. She was backing up under her own power and anchored in the middle of the Detroit River to find out if she should proceed. That’s all, Jon. Stop inserting negative crap.
I think I saw her in port at Cleveland just last week, loading!
Great seamanship on the part of the Great Lakes Towing crew for getting her off so quickly, and for the quick actions of her Captain handling the sudden loss of power. It’ll be interesting to see what caused it, perhaps an automatic shutdown after some component failure (cooling?). Sort of worrying to see the newest ship on the lakes in trouble, but glad there is no pollution or loss of
Iife at least. I suppose some kind of mishap had to happen at some point in her career.
I wonder how many minor run ins Alpena has had in her long and illustrious career. She’s such a beautiful old ship and I sort of hope when she retires she is preserved!
Glad to see they got her loose. Those tugs and their savvy captains saved the day again.
The newest boat on the lakes is already making a memorable career for itself! Hopefully there isn’t any major damages to the hull, I think it should be fine.
The newest and the oldest in the same video.
@@Dan-dg9pi ou beat me to it. I was gonna say that.
Ha ha ...After more than a few years experience in the trades I have learned this fact....Things tend to beak down when they are new, and also when they are really old, but mainly when they are new!
@@Dan-dg9pi I do love that, that was funny. The Alpena is very beautiful lake boat. The classics may not hold nearly as much, but nothing can beat them looks wise.
@@Delta_NWAB747fan Alpena's color is just so distinctive. And when it was built, I think it was the longest ship on the Lakes! Times have changed.
I watched the entire footage and video. Breathtaking! Glad she is at dock being checked out.
Looks as if the Pennsylvania has everything under control. When she came into view around 8:00 I was instantly transported back to my childhood, and my mother tirelessly reading Little Toot to me at every bedtime, 1940s. I guess tug boats are timeless in a way.
Typical Miami sport fish has more power than Pa
@@mikestevens9455 Hook them up to each other and see which one has more power lol
Great memory from your childhood! ❤
This is the Belle Isle on the Detroit River LOL I was lost there in Florida for 20 seconds , coffee time now
Thank you for sharing 😀
Thanks to your great coverage I just subscribed. !!
She lost power. Do you think that's still under warranty 🤣😂
Didn't seem to be stuck that bad. The J.W. Wescott prolly could have pulled her free.
SOMEbody had to put the first scratch in the paint. I guess they knocked the new right off of her.
It must be a power issue , or they would be using their bow thruster to move the bow to the starboard. Also the main engine could have backed her back into the main channel.
The convayor in the front looks a bit too hight for a good view from the Wheel house, but stiil it a result of power loss. To new and to modern for these kind of problems in my mind. But doesn't looks to bad. Get out of the way and let the old lady go pass hehe.
Good thing the front didn't fall off.
Spare us the immature REMARKS.
Ha ha, funny 🙂
@@RioJudy aye aye Captain Serious
In this video, it sure does not look like the ship is under its own power
Her main engine evidently is operating as there were definete wakes from the stern and there were visible wakes from the bow thrusters.
Wow, a 2 minute video turned into 15 minutes. That’s the story we ought to be covering….
What happened? Get stuck on a sandbar?
Wow, they changed boats. What happened to the triple decker boats they used to take people to the island? 🤣
First dings.
Bet a computer failed,,,,
The ship lost power. I wonder if DTE was involved in the power outage? This beast looks like the Edmond Fitzgerald. The song by Gordon Lightfoot, "The Wreck of The Edmond Fitzgerald" should be playing in the background instead of us hearing the wind in the microphone 🎤 of this video.
Just a spot of bother. No worries at all.
Barely an inconvenience.
