guys you have to do an eps about divorced dad rock and it’s history/cultural impact. i.e. nickelback, daughtry, hinder , shinedown, hoobastank, the fray, the script, kings of leon, creed, 3 doors down etc etc. it’s ruling my life lately thank you i love y’all
Re that person being like “well use the library” that’s one of my BIGGEST pet peeves anytime someone is talking about access to books. A library is a PRIVILEGE!! Is it one everyone should have? Yes! Do they though? No! You have to have an address to get a card first of all. A way to get transportation to and from the library. I live in a rural town and my library, kinda sucks. I went in with a list of around 50 queer books, some from every genre I could find. What did they have? That one YA Aristotle and Dante book, THATS IT!!! Let alone any sort of nonfiction that was cultural or revolutionary or recently published. The library is a privilege and I mso tired of people saying “just go to the library” as a gotcha anytime ppl talk about access to books!!! If anyone is reading this and they aren’t aware, Anna’s archive is an amazing resource for free EPUBs!!! And before anyone yells at me for mentioning them by name, it’s in their FAQ that doing so is okay!! They have thousands of mirrors running all around the world, even when it gets taken down, it pops back up. Piracy is essential as a tool to fight against privilege barriers as well as an essential archiving tool! Anywho sorry to rant lmao
You can find playlists of other countries’ or languages’ songs fairly easily but I’ve always wished they’d do a translation in the lyrics section! 29:39
It's a mistake to assume everyone processes music, lyrics or otherwise, the same way. I have a friend who has an auditory disorder where he is wholly incapable of understanding words that are being sung. Meanwhile when I listen to music without lyrics my brain inserts words that I can practically hear most of the time.
SARAH! Memory unlocked with that Hear You Me mood! Literally since I was in like 5th or 6th grade (I’m a fellow Old at age 33 lmao), that was the song I’d SLAM my bedroom door shut and cry to when I was just reaching then onward into the depths of all of puberty 😂😂😂 also when I didn’t know what “gay” was but was literally in a full on lesbian relationship for all of middle school and had so many FEELINGS.
Like 6 months ago I saw someone on insta doing a poll on whether people notice the lyrics or sound/beat first in a song. I immediately thought it was lyrics, but then I thought about it more and I do normally resonate with a song through the sound. I still think about that almost weekly. lol
KENDAAAAAHHHLLL! The Chicks have been in my top 5 artists since before there was even a Spotify. Theyre they BESTTTT!! (Also to prevent a slew of comment spam: Sarah have you listened to GRiZ??? He’s on hiatus rn but he’s a funk EDM artist (I’d recommend his three series early albums of Mad Liberation, Rebel Era, and Say it Loud for his most consistent funk eras and his entire Chasing the Golden Hour series of EPs is such soothing easy funk)
18:36 Sarah , please listen to music by Lake Street Drive when I was introduced to their music, I believe the lead singer was only around 15 and her voice is absolutely incredible very smooth. Specifically the song go down smooth
YESSS LAY IT ON ME BY ED SHEERAN. My overplayed loved songs are Safe and sound by capital cities. Clarity by Zedd. Feel so close to you by Calvin Harris. I love those 2000s bops. Animal neon trees! Sleeping with a friend neon trees. HELLO by Martin solveig. Cool kids. Misery by Maroon 5. Closer by Teagen and Sarah.
I think Kendahl was talking about the song "Let the River Run" by Carly Simon? I sang it in choir and never knew it was in a movie! The movie is Working Girl according to Google
HOW did you guys find your top albums?? Idk if im too late now but I can't find them, I've been so curious especially since my top artists were not at all what I expected
i feel like a terrible queer bc 70% of this pod sounded like a foreign language (it could also be the ‘tism) also, sharp dressed man is so 🙌🏻 a formative song rly
I really love this podcast but sometimes it feels like Sara takes over every conversation and starts talking at you and almost mansplaining everything rather than trying to have a more back and forth conversation. It can feel a little unnatural and be hard to listen to sometimes
So with my experience with autistic people, that is a typical form of communication for some of them. ¯\_(ツ)_/ maybe this podcast isn’t for you. It has shifted in tone over time so it would make sense to not like it the same as before. Food for thought maybe
it’s so jarring the amount of ads in this podcast, is there any way yall can put it into one giant ad block? bc it’s like every 10 minutes and so disruptive- it makes me so upset and I have to stop working to skip or turn it down and it’s just ugh. I love this pod sm but it’s really getting to me.
Stop listing this as a comedy podcast. It used to be. And Kendahl tries her best to keep it like it. But every episode for months is just ‘here’s a subject. Let’s watch Sarah take all of the fun out of it for an hour’ I love Sarah’s knowledge journey, and she was my favorite back in the VCG days, but overanalyzing every. single. thing. Is the antithesis of comedy. I’m just so happy kendahl has another podcast she can actually be a comedian in

Divorced dad rock yes😭
I love how you guys talk to each other, you always take each other’s opinions genuinely and thoughtfully
I genuinely mourned Jenna Marbles. I sobbed for her. She was the ideal youtuber for me. I still have moments where physically miss her content.

Just saw her with a viral video on tik tok the other day …her voice has grown so well with her😊
I think she just put out a bunch of songs on RUclips

can you guys please do an episode about AI? Specifically people forming romantic relationships with AI? I think that'd be interesting

I don't use Spotify but my top artists would definitely be Kate Bush and Tori Amos
HOW did you guys find your top albums?? Idk if im too late now but I can't find them, I've been so curious especially since my top artists were not at all what I expected
my may was exactly the same as sarah, except it was hollywood where rollerskate was. and then august was too, except replace mcbling with pixie.
Sarah, If you're looking for more rock music, listen to Three Days Grace!
can you do an episode on r9k please!
someone tell kendal grace vander wall is making music again !
I am begging y’all to listen to Heaven by Begonia. The song is so catchy, and the woman is insanely talented

Clean by Taylor kind of talks about sobriety. I mean it’s relating a break up to sobriety but she’s saying how she’s so glad she’s done with that guy

I don't think they have much say in the RUclips ads
@ i’m coming from spotify 🤧 they’re embedded in the podcast
Get RUclips premium if ads cause you to get "so upset" 😂 Ooorrr if you want to continue getting free content, accept it will have ads.
@@jwxllxi’m not saying no ads, just not breaks every 2 seconds, it sucks and gets you out of the pod. even w premium??
@@TheCRaZyOwL13 I have premium and saw zero ads on this video..
