The $48,000 RAV4 Prime is great, but here in Canada the dealers want a $50,000+ markup and you have to wait 4 years to get one after you submit your order. $100,000 for a RAV4 Prime? No thanks, its way too much.
It’s too much even without the markups! It has the same starting price as a Model Y and that’s before tax incentives.
I couldn’t get one here in the states either. I was told unless you live in one of the largest cities it is very difficult to come by one. I love my XSE hybrid though
Here in America lots and lots of dealerships are marking up new and used cars to extreme numbers. Its gotten better over the past year but at one point 30 year old used cars with nearly 200k miles were selling for 30k. Wild times
Wait, are you serious?
My Model Y had been going strong for 15 months. 29k miles with no problems so far. I have been all over Illinois and Missouri, including as far from chargers as Tower Rock with no issues whatsoever! The cost of ownership is amazing.
My Mrs has a Mazda, its a beautiful comfortable car to drive, especially long distance, with great fuel economy, better than all the luxury brands I used to sell.
Mazda's extremely underrated reliable cars. Those cars are workhorses never let you stranding or woth issues. Never got one that failed me at work
😂 Have you followed the reliability of cx 90. It’s pathetic and so many lemons
Mazda is the unsung hero
I don't care about recommendations on new cars. Come back to visit these vehicles in 5 years or ~50K miles. Tell me what breaks, which one(s) are no longer reliable or cost $$$ to maintain.
Ain’t no way I would trust BMW long term reliability.
I don't trust a manufacturer with plastic water pump.
With that grammar, you likely can’t afford it.
To be fair, BMW benched the 2jz to make the B/S58 engines. So I trust bmw’s engine (6cyl) but I’m not sure about the other internals. But I believe most bmw drivers should be good out to end of warranty at least.
Ain't no way I would trust Tesla short-term reliability, and that's on the list too.
Ain’t no way to Ford
Nice picks, but no Lexus?
CR rates Lexus as the most reliable of all, but this isn’t a “most reliable” video. They’re factoring in things like price & value too.
lexus and toyota is the same thing, lexus is the luxury variant of the toyota company
NX350 hybrid is one of their favorites it just didn’t make this list
How come you guys forget about the Mazda CX-5 ??? I have a 2020 Grand Touring naturally aspirated. It has one of the best safety ratings in it's class and is super reliable !!!
as the title said 2024 Top Picks not the 2020😂
Great vehicle to drive, but I think it’s way too small inside when compared to the RAV4 and Forester which are both recommended.
Because cr is up Suburu’s butts traditionally
The truth is most Mazdas Toyotas and Subarus will be great.
It says top pick, Mazda didn't make the top pick
Not one Honda? Oh no!
"BMWs are endless money pits!"---Scotty Kilmer
What about in crash test how did this vehicles are in tha category
Pretty sure CR recommendations have to be IIHS Top Safety Pick or Top Safety Pick +
I own a 2023 Mazda 3 Carbon Edition AWD. I absolutely love it! ❤️
Zoom Zoom! I love my Mazda3, it's an absolute pleasure to drive
Mazda3!! 👍🏻✌🏻👍🏻
Me too but 2018!
What was the mileage on the Ford Maverick?
511 miles for hybrid
It was predictably a Toyota/subaru party this year
Honda>Subaru
@@benchmark3332 Honda reliability hasn't been that good according to CR and CR road test scores subaru higher on average too. I have no idea why but could be factoring in safety systems.
While not the only great cars on the road, its really hard to ignore just how well Toyota and Subarus cars are doing. They out perform most cars, are more reliable, and somehow still meet a reasonable price tag. I wont say theyre the best or the only good cars but they are doing very well as cars and as companies right now. Theres a reason theres so many of them on the roads these days.
Nice model y ❤️
What do you suggest: city driver, not daily, 6,000 km/y. 1 or 2 passengers new or used?
Where is Honda ????????? Why does CR always ditch Honda ? I am driving a 15 year old CRV with great reliability
I'm driving a 22 year old crv. They were much better and a completely different engine and transmission than they are now
I've got a 2007 Honda odyssey with the right-side door falling off, brakes are a bit sketchy, and 230k+ miles, but it works like a dream.
My Toyota Rav-4 is hybrid but not plug in it is fast as well 0-60 in about 6.5 seconds in sport mode. It is also one of the best SUV’s I ever had . It is a 2024.
One thing they leave out is that the plug ins as well as all the EV’s give terrible range anxiety !
My Rav gets 500 miles on a tank !
Plug ins can drive exclusively on gas as well genius
Impressed, actually snuck in a Ford.
Most people who buy beemers can’t afford them, maintenance suffers and the second or third owner parts the price
What about the new refreshed model 3?
Subaru 👍👍👍 I have had four Subaru, top quality, the only thing they need to improve is sound insulation.
I've bought houses for less than they are asking for vehicles these days.
So what? Moron comments here.
The environmentalist in me would love to commit to an electric car or hybrid if I was ready to purchase a car, but the; I've almost always had significantly older cars than most, brokeassnesss part of me hates that cars aren't designed to really be long term investments anymore (imo) it seems the days of being able to change your own oil or use a salvage yard are fleeting fast. We got every option under the sun, but cars that can outlast my couch.
You can still change the oil of hybrids.
The average age of a passenger vehicle on U.S. roads has reached 12.5 years, according to research firm S&P Global Mobility. The average age of 12.5 years is a record for American car ownership.
I am glad to see the Mazda 3 on this list. I have a 2018 and I still love it after all these years!
How much money did you get from BMW to put it on this list?
Toyota and Subaru #1 Topguns
#1 🇯🇵
#1 in UGLY UGLY UGLY... and the 2 most recalled cars in last 48 months! Subaru engines are catching fire due to poor engineering and lack of proper cooling systems and the TOYOTAs are way over priced can you say UGLY!
The real problem is they are boring….
How can you determine best picks for cars that are only ~1 year old...
..of course people are going to like “brand-new cars”...
...and these reviews are as reliable as Yelp or hot-Gas...
I’m confused. CR trashed the Prius in a previous broadcast.
I want sliding doors. Don't leave me hanging here, CR!!
my vote is for the Sienna hybrid... daughter's got one and loves it!
Sienna is the only choice if you’re looking for a minivan. Great fuel economy, cosmic luggage capacity and surprisingly good looks. Love the green color they offer
Not a single 2024 Honda review. Curious.
can agree on almost every car except the Tesla and BMW
All hybrids - your team is not biased lol
I owned an X5 and I am permanently traumatized by the unreliability of that POS and treatment by BMW dealerships. Nothing will convince me to give that company a penny of my money ever again.
Fakyeah Rav4 Prime love mine! Toyota killin it!
Toyota: Buy once, cry once!
Funny how they recommend the RAV4 and Prius Prime models but also say that plug in hybrid models are not as reliable as regular hybrid models.
You clearly lack common sense
Nothing funny about it. Plug-in hybrids are more complicated, have issues. Toyota doesnt. The others do.
Rav4 Prime is very reliable
To me, the most important part is the car buying experience. Our legal system curiously omits dealing with outright fraud and deception that is the norm in any car dealer; be it Ford, Toyota, Kia, I have walked out of several car buying attempts in the past because of dirty business practices by salespersons and horrible service departments falsely claiming defects to drum up business.
Having suffered through many unethical stealerships, I profoundly hesitate to trade in my seven-year-old Subaru Forester. I don't know if anyone in America's car show rooms has a conscience or even a trace of morality. I hope that I die before I need to replace my car!
Almost all toyota 👍
No surprise here
Surprised the Prius was on this list after it was named as a least favorite vehicle on your worst cars of 2023 podcast.
It was named one of the most disappointing cars by one of the reviewers
Ya that doesn’t make much sense, also who two of the three top picks were Hondas on that podcast and not one of those Hondas were on here, doesn’t make too much sense.
I was in such agreement before you said BMW but I guess every list needs a turd
Very strange in a video 2 months ago Best and Worst car 2023 Toyota Prius is depicted as the worst car in 2023….what happen between 2023 and 2024 to be become now a top pick….strange very strange. Even in the review of the Prius the members has been unanimously saying that is not a god buy…please explain
Prius and Rav4, no availability for 2+ years. Why recommend a car you can’t buy.
Add likely LONGterm reliability and some of these should disappear from the list.
It was mostly Japanese cars...
Tesla’s ha ha ha … replacement battery not included !! 😂😂
It's beyond stupidity why the Ford Maverick doesn't come as a plugin hybrid.
Hell, the Ford Escape hybrid came out 20 years ago, why did it take Ford so long to be the first in class to produce a hybrid pickup? Why has Toyota been worse?
Bruh plug in hybrids only work well for a small group of people
Doesn't surprise me at all: the Mav was designed to hit the low-end of the market that has been ignored for too long. And this was a very good move for Ford, delivering a basic work truck that many people want. Would a PHEV Mav be nice? Sure. Would Ford's marketing department go for it? Probably not.
There will be a change in the next 3 to 5 years on the way new lithium batteries are produced some manufacturers are waiting until then to come out with full lineup. Batteries will be smaller lighter.
They copy Toyota a lot with hybrids but they did well with the Escape and the Fusion hybrid in the past.
Yes, I thought Toyota would have the first hybrid pick up truck that got phenomenal, gas mileage I was wrong it’s the Ford maverick hybrid! I have this vehicle and I absolutely love it! Highly recommend it to anyone looking to save a ton of money in their fuel cost! I used to be a loyal Toyota customer not anymore. Toyota has completely missed their mark in producing a fuel efficient pick up truck and no the new Toyota Tacoma is not a pick up truck that gets excellent Excellent fuel mileage, they went after the torque and power. Very sad that Toyota missed their mark on this vehicle completely #HappyFordCustomer.
Why on earth is Consumer Reports so addicted to Subaru?
Mattress money.
The Prius might be a fine vehicle but I can't un-see that it looks like a Dodge Neon.
You're blind.
Ford Maverick? Really?
Yes
Does long term reliability not mean anything anymore?
I'm sorry, but outside of Subaru and Toyota, the historical brand reliability (and value) for some of your picks are garbage.
Toyota recalled about 1.9M RAV4s a couple of months ago for potential fires. Toyota reliable? That's a big NO. LMFAO SMH
Most were the good Japanese brands like Toyota Subaru Mazda
Other than every car that wasn’t a Toyota or Subaru, this has to be one of the most anti-climatic videos yet
There's a BMW on this list of top picks next to Subarus a Prius and a Mazda 3. Strains credulity and reliability of CR as a reliable source for actual consumers.
Itwas going well until he mentioned BMW .....absolutely not avoid if not in warranty
So basically Toyotas line up
Love my Tesla
If only a RAV4 could fit inside my garage (that's a must for our house). Will consider a Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid or Kona instead.
Your garage must be tiny.
You live in a shed dude? 😝
Where is the Volvo ? Best Hybrid Sedan and SUV. How csn you ignore these American made vehicles?
BMW with all that expensive maintenance and fragile technology
I just never liked Toyota's style / design. Why can't I get reliability and luxury design and sorry Lexus won't cut it.
Genesis is a great alternative now that I think about it.
Miles per gallon?? When are you going to stop use that, stonage type of
Toyota Highlander is unrivaled….Unless you compare it to the Toyota Grand Highlander hybrid. More space, and same fuel economy.
TOYOTA FORD and SUBARU are 3 of the most recalled brands in the last 48 months.. and these are the cars being recommended... HOW MUCH is CONSUMER REPORTS on the take for.. they take so many envelopes
no clue about cars or properly engineered cars with good dynamics and build quality
outback!
Where's the $25,000 Dodge Grand Caravan? or $12,000 Chevrolet Cavalier?
Consumer Reports claims that their list includes the 10 best vehicles yet no models from Acura, Alfa Romeo, Audi, Infiniti, Jaguar, Lexus, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, or Volvo appear on it. Looks like CR is not a reliable or objective source of information.
Looks like the troll bots are hard at work
Did you not listen to the beginning of the video that explains the criteria of the list?
NOT SURE I BELIEVE EVERYTHING CONSUMER REPORTS SAYS.........
I'VE BEEN TRUSTING THEM LESS AND LESS IN RECENT YEAR'S
Sponsorer by BMW
No understanding why even this channel puts superfast acceleration high on the list. Who cares if you can go to 100 km an hour in two seconds? Totally useless.
A summary of this video: Head to your Toyota dealership, and pick the vehicle that suits your needs. 😇
Putting Tesla above Lexus puts your brand’s credibility in jeopardy if not in the toilet.
Big NO to BMW
Nobody in their right mind would recommend a Tesla.
1.81M owners in 2023 disagree with you. LMFAO SMH
Without elaborating your comment means nothing.
What ev would you recommend?
Yeah. It’s not like it’s one of the best selling cars in the world or anything.
Why!!! It is the best selling car in the world. Guess you have some wisdom that they are missing.
There are some butt ugly cars there....
Tesla, no way they should be on the list. So many issues to name and lack of support for issues.
I was surprised at the horsepower on the Mazda3, would actually consider.
The rest are just a bunch of boring Office Karen cars.
Toyota…no thanks. Those cars are as exciting as…mmmmmmm…nothing!!
Would you rather have reliability or excitement?
The excitement of wondering if your car will start or breakdown on the way to your destination is not for me. I will take a Toyota,
@@unclej3910
Civic > colors
Accord > Camry
Odyssey > Sienna
CRV > RAV4
Pilot > Highlander
You can keep your boring
@@unclej3910judging by their overly dramatic comment I would say excitement 😂
@@Jgjginkg244 You are clearly a honda lover, for example the Sienna is flat out better than the Odyssey in fuel economy which is a massive consideration, the Highlander also has a hybrid and a larger version.
EVs are dead.
I think CR has lost its credibility w cars, seems to select on some ghost criteria rather than real world experience.
Bmw😆😆😆😆😆😆
