last week I decided to clean my room. Nothing big, just wipe the dust. Then when my clothes started to fall down from the drawer I decided to do something about it, and 15 minutes of surface clean turned into whole-day decluttering session during which I found your channel and realized, that what I am doing now, and been doing in last years is actually slowly incorporating minimalism into my life without realizing it. To be honest, during that two decluttering sessions, I have thrown out maybe 5 or 6 of 60L thrash bags, another one of electronics, huge pile of clothes and still see a lot of places to check. The only thing that need to change is a mindset. I was really connected to those things and now I see how stupid it was; I don't even remember some of those I got rid of, while it was just 5 days ago. Cheers from Poland to Finland :D
Yeah I remember those so quickly too. Very rarely I feel I should have kept something 😄 But yeah that's a huge thing you did, well done!
I love the "1 hour decluttering" gamification approach! I think I'd like to try it out myself :) By the way, here in German cities you often see cardboard boxes filled with things and labelled ‘to giveaway :)' on the doorsteps of houses. People walking past can then take out what they need. I always have such a box in the same place in my flat and whenever I no longer need something, I put it in this box. When it's full, I put it outside the door and when I check on it in the evening, it's usually completely empty. Sometimes I'm surprised that something that is actually rubbish to me is still of value to someone. And the other way round, I've often found real ‘treasures’ in other people's boxes (e.g. a really great, warm winter jacket with dozens of small pockets that I currently enjoy wearing every day). Thank you so much for sharing your decluttering process. Your channel is very cosy and inspiring, a place to feel good! 😊
you have to be really careful with the ordnungsamt tho. in my city ratingen, next to düsseldorf if the boxes aren't empty at the end of day (or even sooner....) you'll get a fine. my neighbor had to pay 3000€ fine because the box was a medium sized cardboardbox for moving. don't let place boxes outside your property. if a very picky official sees this AND thinks it might be an obstacle for people with strollers, you're done. a large box can be up to 5000€ fine. it's called "illegale müllablagerung", illegal waste disposal...
@@SirMopy Oh that's interesting, I didn't know about that. Thanks for the hint!
I think that's a great system! We have it here in Finland too but mainly in just suburb areas where there are more families, etc. Luckily we have donation centers all around so it's easy to donate things I don't need anymore. I give mine to the Red Cross since it's closest to my house. I think it's great that even though I don't have money to give to charity every month, I can contribute in some way that is also beneficial for me :)
I love the bit as 6:00 “this ball” … and the ball goes from the second drawer to the third drawer. I can totally relate to that (hey a random ball, might need that one day, better just put it somewhere in case) 💕
Great video as always. Glad the ball didn’t end up homeless 😉
This was very entertaining and helpful! Thank you for not adding the music. I found it a lot more helpful with you talking through it.
Awesome, thank you! 😊
I really liked the one hour decluttering. May have to give it a try.
Yeah, I think it's really great to challenge yourself every once in a while like this. It keeps the process fun and entertaining 😊
Good job, so much done in just one hour! I might try this tomorrow actually. I did a 5-items/day declutter last month. Will try a 1 hour declutter tomorrow. It's gonna rain like crazy tomorrow so it'll be a perfect day to do it.
Sounds great! Rainy days are the best for decluttering sessions 😉
@@SunnyKindJourney That explains why I have done some decluttering today :-D
This is a fun one Seve! I'll do this tomorrow now I think! Thanks for the inspiration!
Love the one touch idea!
I loved watching this because your minimalism journey is much like mine. You aren't trying to live with nothing, just live more manageably. I've decided for the next year and few months (rest of 2024 and all of 2025) to go by the "if one item comes in, two must go" rule. I've done the one to one for quite a while and usually I end up getting rid of more anyhow, but that way it won't seem like such a big deal. The reverse clothes hanger trick is one of my favorites BTW! It really does make you realize "okay, I'm not grabbing that item, why am I keeping it?"
These videos are like a meditation. Thank you, peace and love from NJ, USA ❤
Glad to hear that! Thank you ❤😊
Hii Seve
Love this idea of declutting fr just 1 hr.
Lately even I have found if u do sumthing with th timer on ,u actually end up doing more.
Thank u sooo much fr sharing.🤗💚🌿
It really helps. I tend to take way more time and then not stop if I don't set any boundaries like this haha 😄 Thanks for watching :)
oh you have John Dickie's Cosa Nostra? I taught a Mafia Movies class at Ohio State - I didn't think anyone else would have a textbook like that just on their shelf in Finland, haha
Got a Sicilian partner so I wanted to learn more about it 😉 It's a great book!
I also sold my iPod two months ago quite quickly, receiving unexpectedly nice money!🥳
Love the hour decluttering! :). Where do you sell your items?
I sell them in an online marketplace we have here in Finland 😊
Loved this ❤. Makes me want to sort through my house to :-)
Great job. I find myself decluttering at least 1-2/month as I will be moving within the next year and only want to take the things I about love. My fashion has changed so much over the last several years and I realize I don't need many items.
Also, idk if you've said this in other videos, but is your partner a minimalist?
Well, more or less. I mean she has more stuff than I do but also she does much more complex things or hobbies in her life than I do in mine. The mindset and minimalist values are there for sure but I'd say she is not as "extreme" as I am (even though I don't consider myself that extreme)
Those black sunglasses cases are great for travelling - keeping small electronics in...charging cable, charger and battery, usb etc. Strong and very light.
That's very true, and I thought about it as well when making the decision. I have one case for my camera equipment thought where I keep my electronics when travelling so I don't necessarily need an extra one
I kept my own most loved children books for my future kids, turned out my son only liked not even loved one of them... Read it once and was done with it... So basically I moved about 20 books for about 20 years of my life around with me for basically nothing... I think it's our own sentiment that wants to keep 'm..... 😅
Yeah, this is my thought process as well 😄 And didn't even have favourites so these were just some that I kept for some reason
I hate holding on to things, I just donate or trash everything. Less stress, less baggage loving life. Stay Uncommon!
Old socks are good to use for cleaning. I would keep them then toss after cleaning.
The glass jar of Olympics games from 1984 is pretty cool, haha
Yeah, those are actually my mom's, and she got them from the US back in the day 😄 I actually ended up not selling those but giving back to her :) She might eventually sell or donate them but wanted to still see them
@@SunnyKindJourney she probably has good memories related to those
1 hour is kinda hard to explore . Good job!! 😊🎉👏
Thanks 😊
That was fun to watch!☺️👍
Glad you enjoyed it 😊
Thanks for sharing! It is interesting, even as minimalists, to see the doo dads and whatchamacallits that we collect over the course of a season or year. I did this recently and found Bobby pins and some random cord that I don't even know where it came from, extra pens I accidently picked up from places I had been (brought to the non profit I volunteer at to use).
So true! Like the ipod in this video. I found it from an old bag's hidden pocket, hadn't seen it since 2010 😂 I would really like to know what's inside lol
Love your videos but OMG- you need my help decluttering!
Thank you! What tips do you have for me? :)
That was the first comment I ever made on RUclips and I was kind of embarrassed as soon as I sent it. I was just laughing because I am a much more brutal declutterer and would have questioned you on why you were keeping a lot of stuff. Just in case? Your partner’s stuff? It cost a lot? Sentimental? Everyone has their own decluttering style and you have to be true to you.
I really love your insights on life. You definitely have a gift.
Actually- How about digitizing those receipts and some other important papers?
You are decluttering the Nedved Juventus scarf🙄??? It went to the ”sell” pile, I hope😊
❤
Jos se iPod käyttää sitä leveämpää Applen liitintä niin voin antaa sinulle sellaisen johdon jos jotenkin onnistuu =)
Kiitos!! En oo varma mikä laturi tähän menee kun en muita Apple-tuotteita omista. Tsekkasin ja tää on iPod nano 5. sukupolvi. Jos sulla on ylimääräinen vanha laturi niin ois kyl huikeeta saada tää toimimaan 😄 maksan tottakai postit!
Curious where your bookcase is from?
Which bookcase do you mean? You can write the timestamp 😊
2:00 I suppose shelving unit would be more accurate. 😊
Oh no idea. We got that 4 years ago second hand from some guy for 20€ or so 😄 The story of most of our furniture haha
#CarolineWinkler
Better keep your old children-books. The new versions are spoiled by race and gender "corrections".
Haha, I'm pretty sure I can still find good ones from the library if I'll ever need. These were just wasting space here 😄
