      Changing the decor of your home to keep up with current trends. I really don't understand that thinking at all. We bought our current home 14 years ago and just before we moved in, we had our bedroom and living room painted. We haven't repainted since, the paint has held up extremely well and I have no desire to change it any time soon. Our artwork/decor is all stuff that has personal meaning to us--paintings from artists and friends we know, items picked up when traveling, family heirlooms. I love it, it reflects who we are as people and it makes me smile when I look at these items.

      Buying books! I'm embarrassed to admit how much money I have spent on books over the years!! While downsizing this summer, I took hundreds of books to a discount book place that purchases books. They gave me $32 for the hundreds of books I brought in!!! I'm 50 years old and I am just now getting a library card! I'm just now learning about digital downloads of audio books from the library - FREE!!! UGH!!!!

    In the US when you shop at Walmart and other big box stores, they ask you if you want to donate to some cause. When you do this, Walmart is donating to the cause with your money and they get a tax break for it. It’s better to donate directly.

    I understand the reasoning for not buying a new car and I live a minimalist lifestyle. However, I always buy a car new and pay cash so I have no car loan. I know the entire history of the car from day one and treat my car very well and garage it at night. I keep a car for almost 20 years, having bought my latest car in 2016 and it only has 26,000 miles on it now. It is a Toyota hybrid and I take it in once a year for annual maintenance and that's it. These habits are why I can keep a car for 2 decades and I feel it is the best solution for me. Public transportation does not really exist where I live.

    • @SunnyKindJourney
      @SunnyKindJourney  Месяц назад +8

      If it works for you the best, and you are able to pay it fully, why not. Being able to keep the same car for 20 years already shows dedication that I think most people don't have, and means that it doesn't matter even if the value goes down. My point is mainly about buying a new car and "upgrading" every few years, so basically losing money a car after another 😄 Thanks for the comment and sharing your view!

    All of these resonated so well with me. I will be 40 next month and I still use public transportation. Never had a license and don't see one in my future anytime soon. I don't see a point paying money to own and maintain an oversized hot wheel. I find public transportation just fine. I can use it when needed and I don't have to maintain and deal with it.

  • @markbrock8662

    Great video, great advice. As usual. :)
    One thing I have always done, out of necessity in my youth, is to buy used stuff.
    Let the other guy absorb the 50% loss of retail purchase. Yesterday I bought a nice condition pair of 501 jeans at a garage sale for 3 bucks. That's about free these days. This goes for cars as well. I bought one new one in my life and look at it now as one of my biggest financial mistakes.
    For me, on the medication front, a change in my diet made all the difference. Keto/carnivore. I haven't seen a doc or urgent care in 5 years. Before that it was 2-3 times a year and getting antibiotics. I even had covid and didn't go to the doc on my new diet. It has made all the difference.
    Keep up the great work. I am sure you are informing a lot of people out there around the world.

    doctors don't make more money for prescribing certain drugs, not in the US anyways. I should know, I am one! in fact, that is illegal. most physicians in the us are salaried employees nowadays anyways, but even the ones that own their own practices don't get paid that way. oh, and I like wearing old clothes and driving an old car even though i have a lot of money. there are many advantages to not appearing wealthy. great channel!

    I recently realised that cheaply made clothes of low quality are a waste of money for me. I know it's tempting to want to save money, but I've reached a stage where I want to buy decent quality garments that make me feel good and put together. The cheap clothes I used to get (I hate clothes shopping) do nothing for my figure and wear out very quickly. After a couple of washes it loses its shape and get holes in it really quickly.
    So now I'm being more mindful about the pieces I puchase and try to go for quality if I can afford it.

    Hello there,
    Normal i don't write on RUclips any comments.
    I think you make a few goid points in this Video, but one Thing i want to add on would be your points to higher priced medicamentation.
    A lot of Companys that a higher priced not only sell medicamentation, but also founding there Research on new medicamentation for jet Not treatable illnesses or better solutions. So i wouldn't say that every Company that Charge more are only greedy and it is very important to cosider if i want to Support companies that Do Research.

    • @SunnyKindJourney
      @SunnyKindJourney  Месяц назад

      100%, I think there are many factors behind the pricing. And I don't think charging a higher price is because of pure greed (I mean could be in some cases) but a different strategy to do business, so spending that extra money on ads or some other thing that makes the product more appealing or valuable to the customer. Thanks for the comment! 😊

    But! There can be some /small differences with generic (non-brand/off-brand) medicines. It's always important to check what the non-active/filler products in the medicine might be different - it's usually only an issue if you have allergies. Worth be aware of, however!

    From the USA here: on student loans, sperm donor made me attend two colleges after I dropped out of high school. I dropped out of both of them. He got those loans in my name, so they were mine to pay back. He refused to help. I've had them since 2008. They will never go away. I never wanted them or asked for them. And now I can't pay back the loans for the schooling I did want and go for and have a career in because those things have been drowning me for 16+ years... You're lucky your parents were kind to you.
    edit: on car loans, sperm donor did it again. I wanted to spend three months researching cars to buy a used one. Three days after I spoke up about it, he had gotten a loan in my name and bought a car for me. Your lucky your parents were kind to you.
