Former Aggie band member here. The drills are a mix of easy and hard. There are about 6 “moves” you have to learn. Then each week you spend about an hour and half to two hours every morning memorizing when to do those moves. We did a different drill each week.

Agricultural and Mechanical College of Texas. The nickname “Aggie” is for agricultural. Whatever your college nickname is, it extends to all its sports teams, students, alumni and the band.

The whole school is the Aggies not just the band. They are a precision marching band. The movie 'Drum Line' is about drum & bugle corps. Not marching bands. But there are many videos about that on RUclips too if you like. If you like marching bands, those at the high school level might surprise you. I can't remember what they are called. Just do a YT search for 'national marching band competition'

So the school is Texas A&M but their nickname is Aggies? I'll look into those videos, thank you for that. Have yourself a lovely evening and welcome back to another video! :)

Texas A&M is a military style AWESOME band!! Pretty amazing what they do!! I'm and OSU Buckeye - but I can't help but watch this awesome band - they are just amazing!! The School is Texas A&M (Agricultural & Mechanical College) and they are the Aggie's which is ALSO the football players etc. -- Like The Ohio State University is the Buckeyes! This band is incredible!!
The huge instrument with the large bell in the air - is called Sousaphone (used with marching bands / named after the famed director John Phillips Sousa! - in a concert or symphony band is a tuba.

Regarding the crowd, at most football games when it is Halftime you run to get food/drink or hit the loo (is that right?), but at an A&M game you do not leave your seat. The performance of the football team varies, but A&M has never lost a Halftime.

Texas Agricultural and Mechanical University. Aggies is a nickname which plays off Agriculture.

The large instrument is a specialized tuba designed by John Philip Sousa, the March King, and it is called a Sousaphone. Every high school, college, university marching band uses them in the USA. Tubas are used by orchestras, not marching bands. 😊
The football stadium, Kyle Field, has a capacity over 100,000. The university has over 40,000 students, 4,000 of them in the Corp of Cadets (ROTC), with around 400 cadets in the band.

    Great conversation.
In America, there were 'universities', and 'colleges', as well as privately-funded schools in many states back in the1800s.
Thus the 'University of Texas' was created among other states to prepare graduate persons for law, medicine, engineering, science, and other advanced professions. 0

The first song they play is the "fighting song" (theme song) for the University, and especially for the football team. I am from south Texas, went to the Univ. of Texas, so A&M is our rival in football. I do not like them, nor anyone who goes there! (In a competitive manner only). The students who go there are called "Aggie's" (nickname). The University of Texas is the Longhorns (the cattle with massive horns, which are usually quite a big larger than a "regular" cow. The saying for the Longhorns is "Hook 'em Horns", referring to the big horns again, which are very dangerous. There is a saying in Texas among non-Aggies, in a joking manner, that if you see a person picking their nose in public, they HAVE to be an "Aggie"! (referring, jokingly again, to a not-so-smart individual). The football rivalries in Texas a re very real, and a BIG deal! It's a pride thing. Oh, and any Texas team, regardless of Horns or Aggies, "hates" Oklahoma (called the Sooners)! They are Texas No.1 rival, and it's a rough one!

@@AliKaiProject I think it’s officially called the 4 Way Cross. It’s amazing! I think you would like it. Btw- l love your 3 donkeys in the picture. Looks like they’re watching with you. Come to Texas A&M for a football game sometime. The atmosphere is amazing. We’ve had 110,000 fans in our stadium before and regularly have over 100,000. Students stand throughout the game. They’re the 12th man! It symbolizes that they’re ready to enter the game if needed in honor of E. King Gill who did have to enter the game decades ago to help the team. A&M has lots of traditions. We’d love to have you visit! I’m an Aggie (former student) class of 1981. We don’t have ex-students. We’re all former students. :) Take care!
